Kill All Mission

I have a suggestion... I don't mind kill-all missions, but I have a problem when they are "stealthed" as other missions.  The redside mission by Tavish Bell drove me crazy as the title CLEARLY said, "Find the two crates." Immediately after finding them, it said, "Eliminate demons," and later, "Secure the cargo."

Listen, if you're going to have me do a kill-all mission, PLEASE stop layering it under everything else. So here's my suggestion... either rename missions like these (pretty doubtful) or put an icon on the screen to NOTIFY the player that this is definitely a kill-all. I detest "cheat" missions like this that literally lie to the players upfront.  There are quite a few missions that are labeled, "Cleanse the area" and "Secure the cargo" and "Eliminate the threats."  Just call a kill-all a "kill all" and stop trying to hide the fact that you made it a kill-all.

An indicator of this would be nice.

I agree. I don't know about the Tavish Bell one, and from the OP it just seems tedious for the progressing objectives, but there are missions that are stealth kill alls and they really shouldn't be. If the mission says "Get <glowie>" or "Defeat <boss>" as the objective then that should be the objective. There are blue side missions, that I can't remember currently, that give objectives like Defeat X, and my friends and I go in, stealth our way to the target, annihilate him, clear the room he is in because the mission isn't done, and then have to start working our way back through the map butchering everything because the mission is an unstated kill all.

(It is for this reason that my friends keep the wiki open for every arc we do together to see if the current mission is a stealth kill all or not.)

It's like most of Anton Sampson's missions, where "check out Nemesis base" always seem to have the unwritten addition "...and defeat every Nemesis trooper inside", even though it never actually shows as a mission goal; the mission just won't complete until the map is cleared.

I know, but I HATE keeping the wiki open all the time because the devs wanted to slow the player down in the game -- and that's the ONLY logical reason for hiding the kill-all missions. It's frustrating because when AE came out, the Tips section was like, "Don't make kill-all missions because players hate them" and then a LARGE amount of their missions are kill alls.

Definitely agreed.

Funny thing is there are also missions that are the opposite.  They say kill all, but aren't.  I know of at least one anyway that I've run enough times that I recognize it and go, "Oh, its that one where I can actually just stealth and click the glowies despite what it says."

When going for the Frontline Badge with Cadao Kestrel through Ouro unless you go to the Wiki you don't know that Stop Circles Battle mission is a defeat all.

It is obvious which Circle Mystics to defeat, so I did that.

And just stood there ... ummmm

Then I went to the Wiki... doh!

I'm going to +1 this.  It may be difficult for the devs if the missions aren't actually "marked" as kill all, maybe a script adds the objective later or something, but it would be good to allow for this to be easily added to the objectives for any mission.  Then just treat the missions that don't update right away as a bug and fix them when players point it out.

On one of my characters, I remember doing a mission that was like that; the mission goal in the nav window was to "defeat all thugs" or the like, and I happened to be playing a character with invisibility and a gonzo range, and I went through the mission map defeating all the thugs, leaving the mobs they were fighting (Crey, IIRC). When I was done, the mission wouldn't complete until I went back and defeated all the Crey, too.

There are a few missions like that. Missions that say for instance "Defeat All Praetorians" or "Stop The Praetorian Invasion", you enter the mission and there are Circle and Praetorians on the map and the mission is a kill all. Basically, if a mission says "Defeat All X", you need to clear the map of everyone regardless of faction. This is true of all missions that say to defeat one faction, but multiple factions are on the map unless the other faction cons as friendly. (Mission is to stop the Tuatha and there are Firbolg on the map? Gotta drop the Firbolg too. So on and so forth.)
