Injunuity Posted March 13 Posted March 13 just a thought, but lock the channel in discord, and change it to forum post alerts for here. so that any suggestions made can alert those in discord about a new post for suggestion and other players can see that they can come here to make their suggestions, etc. hope this is considered, Rob
Retired Game Master GM Tock Posted March 13 Retired Game Master Posted March 13 (edited) It's respecting "the divide", if you will: There are people on the forums who want nothing to do with Discord. And there are people on Discord who want nothing to do with the forums. This is irrespective of our community, but folks who feel that way regardless of where/who is running it. By holding feedback and tech-support channels/boards in both places, we can serve either side of it at the cost of some folks 'duplicating' their request on each. And that isn't as much of an issue: Discord offers immediacy, as people can reply in real-time who have suggestions to address it immediately. Forums offers 'meditation' on a problem, where folks can take the time to form a response to satisfy all the pain points of a problem. After all, some suggestions are tech-support and the user doesn't realize it yet. Both are good in tech support as some problems need both. (Bug Reports are only on the forums for a simple reason: Discord search has always been imprecise.) Edited March 13 by GM Tock 1
Injunuity Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 it's for this one specific channel, as all suggestions always seem to get the response, "post it to the forums, the dev's will be able to track it there" so, why not do just that, have them all posted here, and alerts in discord. it still meets both to a degree. 6 hours ago, GM Tock said: It's respecting "the divide", if you will: There are people on the forums who want nothing to do with Discord. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx? Check out Michiyo's modder or Solerverse's thread. Got a punny character? You should share it.
Retired Game Master GM Tock Posted March 17 Retired Game Master Posted March 17 Take 2: Not all feedback is bug reporting and suggestions. And even if it is, if the suggestion is something that is frequently asked and not done, folks can reply faster than the forums to say why it is. And I can understand it is frustrating to see the same response repeatedly, but that is a staff burden to respond like that, not yours. Changing the channel to read-only or removing the channel won't stop or alter the user behavior, they'll just suggest bug reports and suggestions elsewhere. 1
