Hi. I hope you fare well on this mortal plane, or are - at the very least just - having a good time.

As stated above I'm too old for this game, but I lovesss it so I'm back. I mained a Regen Scrapper (Velvet Noir) back in the day. The 'hardest' content I played was the LRTF and that Crimeria TF - I forget it's name. I also played tanks; see below.

Disclosure:

- Before you read the below it's worth knowing that I tried Inv/SS, Ice/Ice, Shield/DM when I used to play and they just didn't stick; I was not motivated to play them past the 25-35 level range.

- I played pre-incarnate and all that stuff so any mentions of such things or more recent enhancements sets will be lost on me (for now) unless it comes with a more detailed explanation.

I could use some help with the following, please:

- Rad/EM - I'm inclined to build this - any issues I should know about or big wins?

- WP/ ? - What 2ndaries pair well with this set and why? [I tried this with DB back in the day and it did well enough in Crimeria, although I didn't enjoy DB at all]

-  ?/TW - It's cool. What primaries pair well with this and why?

P.S.: What's the quickest way for me to catch up on end-game for tankers, including all the build stuff. I have Mid's and know how to use it, but there's a lot of new and unfamiliar (to me) stuff in there.

Regards

A few us are a bit on the old side as it were.

I'm still sussing out Rad for armour.  I'll let someone else answer that.

WP is a great set, paired with Ageless for the Debuff resist.    My best pairing is with Street Justice, but anything can work.

I have yet to get into TW.   Strong set, but it's just not for me.

One method I often use is testing builds on Beta since you can get all the enhancements just granted.  (And the Mids export works well)

Rad armor is a great set that uses resistance paired with Regen/absorb. There's a few build theories in that you can build towards its strengths or shore up weaknesses like no defense.

IMO, It works well with capped slow resistance and capped damage type resistances or as close as you can get (noting you can get extra resistance from might of the tanker procs, meltdown, melee core hybrid, demonic, rune of power). Building for defense didn't seem necessary given the resistance and absorb shield. Once you have resistances set, getting decent recharge is important because you can proc bom rad therapy and ground zero to help your AoE damage output.

First, thanks for the responses; I really appreciate it! Also, forgive me the following questions 🙂

I'm not familiar with Ageless; I found it, but there are many of them; do you pick one or get the whole lot or... ? A primer on this stuff would be great if anyone has a link for them? I don't think I've found that section of the wiki yet. How do you get automatic enhancements? I've done some preliminary checks on Brainstorm, where I run the level up to 50 command and then I spam Ms Liberty. Is there something I should do after that or do you go about it differently?

I've seen this "melee core hybrid" in Mids; what is it and how do you get it? I'm also not familiar with Might of the Tanker(?). Demonic is an Accolade I think; not sure. Finally, how do you get Slow resist? Is that +recharge, +spd, or the ResEffect(Recharge) I've noticed on one or two enhancement sets. I'm assuming it's the latter and if that's the case, what's the best way to build that? I'm trying to get familiar with all the new enhancements types and things in Mids, but it's taking a little while.

  1. Melee Core hybrid is an incarnate Hybrid choice that increases your resistance based on how many enemies are around you. you can build it using Incarnate Salvage after unlocking the slot post lvl 50.
  2. Might of the tanker is an ATO enhancement set unique to tanks only. It has great set bonuses, but it's proc ability allows it to proc a 6.7% or so bonus to every damage resistance type. This value can potentially stack up to three times.
  3. Demonic is an accolade. Heroes call it Eye of the Magus. You can check out the badge requirements at the HC wiki.
  4. Slow resistance is typically got from Winter's Gift proc, and also 2/3 PC set bonuses from Winter IOs. Rad Armor also gets some natively. If you can get up to 100%, nothing in the game can slow you down.

Incarnate powers are obtainable once you hit level 50.  You then begin gaining Incarnate XP instead of regular leveling XP.  This iXP goes to unlocking Incarnate power slots, each of which has a small tree of powers in it.  Typically there are two main branches in each tree, Core and Radial.  These are different versions of the same power.  Slightly different effects. And then there are four ranks or "tiers" from T1 to T4.  Your goal would be to aim for either the Core or Radial T4 in each Incarnate power slot, eventually.

Caveat: Debuff effects can be unresistible.  The only one I can think of for Slow right now is Tsoo Ink Men.  Their Siphon Speed doesn't care if you have 100% slow resistance. There could be others.  You do still want slow resist, most especially if you are not defense based (as you get hit by most/all debuffs)...just pointing that out.

Thank you all for your responses.

This gives me a lot to work with; I can now be quite focused in obtaining most of the key knowledge I need in the short term, and expound from there.
