Ice Melee Brute Armor Set

What is the ideal armor set for an Ice Melee brute (nonfarm)?

Ice has alot of mitigation tools, so any would work.  Ice/Fire Armor is probably the damage king.  Ice/Ice for thematic reasons.  Ice/Dark for lots and lots of mitigation.  Pick just about anything and have fun with it.

I really hate endurance drain.  I've been leveling an ice melee/energy aura brute and I've been really digging to combo.  It doesn't necessarily have any obvious synergy other than that it has:

• Tons of mitigation tools in the primary (slows, hold, low mag sleep)
• Heal, +Regen, and Endurance discount (Energize)
• Endurance drain, +DEF (Energy Drain)
• Endurance drain resistance
• +Recharge
• +Exotic Resistance

 

Really everything pairs with energy aura reasonably well, but I've been having a blast with this guy.  If you're looking for pure DPS increases thanks to the mitigation tools, @PLVRIZR is spot on with ice\fire.  You could also do ice\bio for something a little more safer (or ice/rad).  I prefer the playstyle of ice\ea though personally since it's the one secondary that tanks don't get.

While a Tanker gets bigger AoEs, DoT damage loves Fury so I don't think it is a straight win for Tankers. I had a Rad/ice Tanker which I soloed, and I found the damage on the lower side than I would like. Could it street sweep +5/+6? Even in my 20s. I did take a Ice/stone Brute to 50.

 

In short, Ice is cheat mode for mitigation due to Ice Patch alone so it can be used with less sturdier armors, or added to the stronger ones and make the build all the more tank like. My Ice/stone Brute soloed +4 Council before level 50, and I didn't even need Ice Patch. Note, that means +5s were involved. It was watching paint dry slow, but it can be done.

i prefer this combo ona brute.ice patch slows down  the incoming dmg enough that rad armor can handle it,brutes superior dmg handles the rest.

 

Rad armor can be(with a fat wallet) made tanker tough (near 90% resists) on brutes.

--tanks can go 2 routes then--more dmg or add DEF,and wait till incarnate ageless radial epiphany for ANY debuff resistance.--that's a long haul.

 

i lean heavily on ice patch for my melee mitigation, make sure to add a +RANGE to FROST(i use set bonuses) and it becomes a monster of an attack.

 

for my incarnate alpha i'm still waffling between cardiac radial(to shore up those resists and max out absorb) or spiritual core for more regen and that huge +recharge
