Captain Fabulous Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Another thing you can try is going to System > Display > Graphics in Windows, add City of Heroes to the list and select High Performance. It *should* list your Nvidia card when you click Options.
shortguy on indom Posted August 26 Posted August 26 IF TRIED ALL THE SUGGESTIONS, AND STILL NOT FIXED.... UNPLUG ALL DISPLAYS BUT YOUR "MAIN" AND TRY THOSE SUGGESTIONS AGAIN. IF STILL NOT FIXED.... GPU-Z (FROM WHATEVER LINK YOU FEEL SAFE DOWNLOADING FROM IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE MINE....(IT IS THE STANDARD).... RUN GPU-Z IF THE OPENGL BOX IS NOT CHECKMARKED IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER AREA.... IT MEANS THAT YOUR OPENGL DRIVER ON YOUR AMD IS NOT ENABLED. THIS IS BAD. AND IS YOUR ISSUE BECAUSE THE AMD DRIVER ENABLES THE OPENGL FOR YOUR INVIDIA CARD. THIS CAN BE DUE TO EITHER/OR: NOT RECOGNIZED NOT INSTALLED NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY CORRUPTED let us know or not, just trying to help. PvP Capture the Flag! Bring some fun into it....

He disabled the AMD chip, which is why it's running the basic Microsoft driver with no OpenGL support. 1

SEEN THAT POST EARLY ON... THINK YOU NAILED IT. KUDOS. IF NOT THE LENOVO SPECIFIC AMD DRIVER IS BORKED SOMEHOW. CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT IT ENDS UP BEING. 1 PvP Capture the Flag! PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 I've done those things as well, everything short of rebooting and going into the bios to check those setting as you suggested, still same error message.
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 I have just place City of Heroes in the windows Custom Option for apps window and am going to reboot now, then I'll try the Homecoming start up again. Here goes!
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 I also changed all my display setting back for high performance Nvidia 3050 Ti card. Here goes!
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 For a minute the Loading.. splash screen hovered there and I thought " HOLY SHIT! THIS IS GOING TO WORK!" Then the error screen appeared again. I'll try the reboot and go into my bios and see if there is anything in those setting that might be doing it. Or I'll try putting everything back on the motherboard graphic driver(AMD onboard graphics) and try that with the City of Heroes app in my gaming setting for Windows. Its getting there guys thanks for your support and help with this problem. I really want this to work...
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Ok, I've downloaded GPU-Z and will run it looking for the AMD setting you were talking about for enabling OpenGL for the Nvidia card. I'll repost when that has been finished.
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 The GPU-Z reading look to be set with all the correct parameters. The Open GL is activated for the Nvidia card.
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 I don't know what to tell ya, short of going into the bios or going to Windows and manually looking for this Windows Basic Display Driver, I've done EVERYTHING and am still getting the error message.

PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 (edited) Ok, I just went into the bios and I noticed that the bios was set on Dynamic Graphics(onboard graphics), so I reset it to Discrete Graphics Device(Nvidia card). Now the GPU-Z said the OpenGL is loaded for the discrete card so this should work. Here goes! Edited August 30 by PhiSchmo56
shortguy on indom Posted August 30 Posted August 30 GPU-Z SHOWS OPENGL DRIVER AS VERSION 1.1 THE NEWEST OPENGL DRIVER AROUND IS 4.6 OR 4.8, BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHICH DRIVER THE OEM LENOVO AMD CHIP DRIVER USES. THINK ITS DEFAULTING TO THE GENERIC MICROSOFT DRIVER (OPENGL 1.1) WHICH IS MOST LIKELY WHAT GPU-Z IS SHOWING, AND YOUR LENOVO LAPTOP PROLLY NEEDS THE OEM DRIVER. PvP Capture the Flag! Bring some fun into it....
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 THAT DID IT!!!! I'M IN, I'M IN!!!! You were right about the bios settings creating a conflict!!!! Thank you both, SHORT GUY AND CAPTAIN FANTASTIC!!!! Without your suggestions and my persistence I would have NEVER gotten in, a million thank you guys!!!!! 1 1 1
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 That was the trick Manga, the setting was on Dynamic(onboard graphics) while in conflict with the Nvidia settings. Now it all set, thank you for your guidance! I have been playing the game all night. Come look for Psi Nami sometime in-game and we'll do missions together or invite me to your supergroup!
PhiSchmo56 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 That did it! Thank you, the bios is now inline with the hardware settings. Thank you so much. 1
Captain Fabulous Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Excellent, glad you finally got it up and running! 1
PhiSchmo56 Posted September 21 Author Posted September 21 That was it EXACTLY! The bios was set on the motherboard(onboard) graphics engine(AMD) and the software was set to the Nvidia graphics proprietary card. I reset the bios. Great going Manga, Ive been playing the game for a month now! Thank you! 1
