This seems like a cool idea, but you're making me feel like I put too much effort into my suggestion xD I definitely agree with the general "upgrades are necessary to have the pets actually be combat-viable" but maybe having support pets would be a nifty idea. You could have a "cherubim" type, that has melee attacks and small AoE heals, an "ophanim" type that buffs/debuffs and has weaker ranged attacks, and your "seraphim" that's a straight up nuke blaster.

No, you did not put too much effort into your suggestion. More detail is far better than no, or very little detail. You should have a concrete idea of the suggestion you're making and know what you want to do with it.

I do have to disagree with the idea of support henchmen (MM's have henchmen (and sometimes henchmen & pets); henchmen can be controlled, pets can't). I need my henchmen to attack and maybe provide some defense/protection. I don't need them to support me; that's what my entire secondary set is for. Henchmen are how we deal damage (our personal attacks are penalized; they do less damage and cost us more end to use)--having them have support powers meaning they're do less of something I actually need them to do.

I'm curious how you feel about 'bots and demons then. The Protector Bots have both a shield and a heal, and one of the tier 2 demons has a heal.

Hm, fair point. I was thinking of the bots' and demons shields, but I did forget that the T2 demons throw out a heal and I think one or two of the other powersets can do that as well. I think I was reading their suggestion as the angel henchmen being support focused.

Like yeah, the bots and demons do those things, but it's not necessarily their main thing; their main focus is still being there to deal damage/protect the MM. So yeah, one or two minor support powers, sure, but henchmen whose sole focus is support? That's where my opposition lies, otherwise the entire powerset would be nearly useless because our secondary is support. Hopefully that makes it more clear.

The other sets mostly work like this too. Thugs LTs with their leadership. Mercs Medic. Beasts' Lionesses with their team buffs. I think Necro and Ninjas are the exceptions, and they both get CC heavy Boss pets.

Yes, you are correct. As I said in that post, I was reading the person's comment as if they meant for the henchmen to be support henchmen, meaning support majority powers; if this is true, then I would be against this since MM's have an entire support secondary.

However, if it is more in line with how henchmen currently are in terms of having support powers, then that's fine and it's my bad for misreading the comment.

I agree it would be a mistake to make an MM support pet that didn't contribute sufficiently to damage, and for the same reason, that's what the secondary is for.

Great, so we'll need a "Holy Moley Affinity" support set in addition to an Angels summoning.

Yeah.

I mean, I didn't look too closely at stuff, but the core idea is fine.

Masterminds started out as a villain-only AT so some of the sets leaned very heavily into that identity.  Now that they can also be heroes, some more minions that can lean more into that identity are welcome by me.

Now, having just taken a closer look, I am not sure about some of the other stuff.  Might be a bit too much to ask for all new "other" powers.

Empyreal flame could just use existing fire attacks, possibly with some exotic default coloring, but since demons already have fire I think that it would, at minimum, have to be some other flame-based powers than what the demon masters use.
Or they could just go with something as yet-unused for that role.  Radiation (maybe that is Empyreal Flame?) or energy feel like they might fit that role best, but I would lean towards energy.  Energy blast or manipulation to pull the direct attacks from.

Save radiation for a future "mutations" set and ice for some sort of snow-critter mastermind, whether that be a holiday-theme (three snowmen, two elves. and a reindeer?) or otherwise (snowmen, icemen, and a Yeti or maybe penguins fit in there somewhere...   Past my bedtime).
