Dynamo-Joe Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I found this bit of amusement on Quora by someone named Jonathan Glen: Quote QUESTION: "How would Peter Parker act in the elevator fight scene if he were in the same situation like Captain America?" I love this question because it says “Peter Parker” and not Spider-Man. If Peter were in this situation and dedicated to not revealing that he is in fact Spidey then you would get an amazing scene. Here’s a quick idea of how I think it would go down. Peter: (Spidey sense tingling) Hey, I’m actually going to get off here and take the stairs. You know I heard exercise is important and … Thug 1: (presses door close button) Peter: Oh, ok I guess I’ll get off at the next one. Can you push 25? Thug 1: (silence) Peter: Man, weird energy in here. Is anyone else getting that? Did the coffee machine break? Actually too much caffeine isn’t great you may want to try … Thug 1: Shut up Peter: ok I really don’t know what I did to you but will you please let me off now? Thug 2: (grabs Peter from behind in a bear hug, lifting him up) Peter: Whoa, we just met don’t you know you’re supposed to ask for consent first? (Thug 1 throws a punch at Peter’s face) (Peter breaks out of Thug 2’s grasp and as he falls to the floor he slips between the thug’s legs to get away as Thug 1 punches Thug 2, knocking him out) Peter: Ouch. That looked like it really hurt. Anyone have any aspirin? (Peter looks around at the rest of the elevator and sees the determination in each person’s eyes as everyone prepares themselves for battle) Peter: Whatever it is, I’m sure that we can talk about it. … The rest of the scene is Peter basically dancing between punches as each of the soldiers is taken out by friendly fire. At the end, only two soldiers remain and both have stun wands. They both attack at the same time from either side, one going low and the other going high. He’s finally forced to tap into his powers a little more deeply as he does a spinning flip to avoid both, causing them to stun each other. The end result is the same but Peter never threw a punch in the fight, and didn’t use his webs or ability to stick to walls. You also get him playing a bumbling teen the whole time and apologizing as people get injured like it’s not his intention. I’d love to see something like this make it onto the screen. It could be the perfect combination of comedy and action. I bet you could find an excuse to have a scene like that work in an upcoming Spider-Man film. I think you'd HAVE to play it as comedy - and homage at the same time. A comedic callback if you will. And it totally goes with the light-hearted Spider-Man portrayed by Tom Holland! Almost "Jackie Chan as Spider-Man" if you get my meaning! 1 4
Techwright Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) It's an interesting concept. Once it happens, though, you know packed-elevator fights are going to become defining moments for characters in the MCU. Daredevil, Power Man, Black Widow II, Wonder Man, etc. It would be just like the hallway fight scenes in Star Wars started by Darth Vader's moment in Rogue One. I know of at least 5 so far: Vader, Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul, Baylon Skoll, Dinn Djarin (aka "The Mandalorian"). EDIT: I'd add one concern: there wasn't a lot of maneuvering room in the elevator. Peter's not going to have the room to move that he normally does. A choreographer is going to have to be VERY inventive. Edited September 17 by Techwright
Aracknight Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Hmm. I seem to recall an issue where that happened, and Peter's thought balloon read something along the lines of "have to make it look like karate so they don't suspect I'm Spider-man." The memory is clear, but I'm afraid i cant cite the issue number. 1
Luminara Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Heh. Peter Parkour. Heh. Get busy living... or get busy dying. That's goddamn right.
Mopery Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Don't ever back him into a corner. There's a comic where Spider-Man gets trapped in an alley by Firelord, a former Herald of Galactus. By the time the Avengers show up they have to pull Spider-Man off a badly beaten, nearly dead Firelord. 😁 Those times you saw no footprints, I had Fly toggled on.
