Project
I know pvp has never been a big thing in this game, but just wondering how doms are actually doing? I mean I've only leveled one to around level 30 and they start becoming quite the powerhouse by then, but then again they are pretty dependent on their domination skill to really punch through, but that bar hardly will fill in a pvp fight? Felis Noctu
From what I understand, at 50+ levels, a dominator will destroy most stalkers/scappers/blappers in a straight one-on-one fight of raw DPS. In team fights, you're likely going to be playing more to a controller-style, since if you're in close and glowing as doms tend to do, you'll get dogpiled on. But that's also 50+, when doms really come into their own. Before 50, I'd assume you'll be more of an opportunist, like pre-50 stalkers, looking for lone squishies who aren't prepared to be yanked out of the sky by a hold and blapped. Doms are probably the hardest AT to master, and for optimal performance are also incredibly enhancement-reliant, so many still don't make it to 50 or get retired quickly. Once they get there though they're also one of, if not the, strongest in the game. It really depends on you to know your limits, think tactically, and judge situations accordingly, especially in PVP. Project
Actually halfway excepted someone to scream they would be terrible xD but I guess your right about people giving up on them. 🙂 Thanks
Felis Noctu
Haha, no, far from terrible, just hard! Running into an equal level one alone is almost always a death sentence. I guess the best way to put it is they have a high cost of entry, and most people don't have the patience for it. 1 Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer The build planner to make your awesome characters even more awesome! Project
Out of curiosity, which primary would be good? I mean they are all about control, and I would halfway except most other players to have enough mez protection that all the control in the world hardly will do much of a difference. So I'm thinking illusion, as the pets are quite devastating or gravity, because that is more about damage than anything else
Ringo
Mind has Sleep, Hold, Confuse, Fear, Knock-up, and the TK repel/immob, which I think is slightly better than Illusion for finding an opponent's weakness to exploit. The way that mezzes work in PvP is REALLY different from how it works in PvE. Everyone -- even armored classes that are pretty much immune to mezzes in PvE -- will get mezzed in PvP, but only for very short amounts of time (for Dom/Troller holds I think it's 4 seconds base?), and then they have a cooldown period in which they're immune to mezzing. Felis Noctu
I'd echo the Mind recommendation. It's considered to be better on doms, and PVP-wise, it utilizes more uncommon mezzes that tend to see less resistance. There's plenty of sources of immob/hold, but sleep res is often ignored, as is confuse res, and repel res is almost unheard of. And like @aethereal mentioned about the mechanics of control in PVP, even though knock res is one of the more common ones, you're still likely to get bounces out of it, even if it's barely knocking them on their butt. It's still disruption! Mind/ has a great deck of cards for PVP. Edited November 13 by Felis Noctu 1 Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer The build planner to make your awesome characters even more awesome! jprewitt73
Anyone have a Mind/Fire build for PvP? I'd like to check it out, but it's been 15+ years since I've done any sort of PvP.
