Katana(i guess bsword too) Assault for doms

Tier1 - Gambler's Slice - ranged, minor, two ticks

Tier2 - Air Cutter - Medium damage ranged attack, uses sting of the wasp animation

Tier3 - Ruthless Impale - high damage attack that uses Assassin's Strike animation, chance to hold

Tier4 - Venom/Poison blade, basically fiery embrace but toxic  damage.

Tier5 - Lotus Drops

Tier6 - Soaring Dragon

Tier7 - Throw Katana, uses Cimerorian Spear throw animation, can be snipe

Tier8 - Vacuum Slice ranged cone attack that uses flashing steels animation

Tier9 - Dragonfly but taoe like Battleaxe's attacks

Makes sense.

I mean, not sure what all powers/animations might be the 'best' choices for Katana or Broad Sword, but I agree with the base concept.

I'd even add Staff to the list.  One set at a time, but it feels like it could be a Dominator kind of weapon.  It could certainly be used to enhance some wizard concepts.

oh man i just realized that spear throw uses the right hand and katana users use their left hand

Small point of note (though it might be seen as a reason to not do this?) is that Rebirth has a "Ninja Assault" set that incorporates the Katana.  FWIW, it's laid out like:

 

t1 - "Flashing Blade" - Throws a dagger, normal t1 ranged attack

t2 - Gambler's Cut - from the Katana/Ninja Blade set

t3 - "Steel Wind" - Throws a fan of daggers, ranged cone

t4 - Soaring Dragon - from the Katana/Ninja Blade set

t5 - Chi Strike - Like Envenomed Blades from Martial Assault, but energy damage instead of toxic

t6 - Scorpion's Sting - Throws a dagger, same animation as t1 but does more damage + DoT

t7 - The Lotus Drops - from the Katana/Ninja Blade set

t8 - Caltrops - from various other sets

t9 - Golden Dragonfly - from the Katana/Ninja Blade set

I'm sure it'll need to be tweaked, but I like the base concept. More weapon assault sets for doms seems like a good/fun idea.

I tried to get decent AoE at or below level 20.  I loathe sets like super strength or psi melee

Yeah, that's my take as well.

Whatever arranging of powers and/or which animations they choose for the abilities is whatever, but the core idea seems good.

You could combine the various "ranged slash" animations from claws focus and shockwave with katana animations, for some of the attacks...
