I'm enjoying my seismic/earth blaster so far (lvl 27). I'm currently running with combat jumping, superjump, tough/weave, etc.,... Meteors, while really cool (and hilarious) has that pesky delay, so I am wondering if I really need it. I haven't seen much for builds yet. Thoughts?

i would never give up that hard hitting nuke.  it is a case of "dont just spam it"  you have to know it is needed and 90% likely not to be wasted.  

 

here is my oddball take on it. leveraging even more range for safety...

Never skip your nuke.  With Meteor, you just have to adjust your timing of it's use - like you do for Rain of Arrows in the Archery set.  

 

After you cast Meteor, you can immediately cast 2-3 other powers with the last hitting right as the meteor strikes devastating the mob.  I usually hit my buildup/aim power, Meteor, Upthrust, and Rock Shards (especially great if you have your seismic shockwaves as damage is doubled, arc is widened, and target cap goes to 16).  My Seismic is a /Martial Combat, so I will add in a Burst of Speed for more AOE damage right as the Meteor hits.  Rarely does anything survive, and if they do, they're easy pickings with your ST attacks even though they've been flung away.

this soloes well, but it is all about tactics (depending on missions/settings)  at +0/x1 any Blaster should run great.  the trick to utilize this "F U from over here" build is to really hit hard first.  The nuke is great for that.  using bonfire and fracture to control any ambushes.  then knocking down the most dangerous enemies in the spawns with ST until the nuke pops back up.

Would it be recommended to slot a knockback to knockdown in Meteor?  I've seen it launch mobs so far I can't even tell where they've gone

If you want. I find it less needed on blasters, as it's likely to blast everything clean. No need to worry about cleanup if they're dead.

 

You can extra ensure they are dead by using the drop time to chain your other aoes.

 

If a few bosses get rocketed to the heavens with a sliver of health, I consider that a bonus. Few better displays of power in this game than a meteor amok!

This is personal taste.  I do not nor would ever slot one as my meteor kills them outright since I've chained plenty of AOEs ahead of time before it lands as i described in my first post.  And as I also mentioned, if one or two bosses survive, they have only a sliver of health left and are easy pickings with ST attacks even if they are flung far away - you're a blaster and can easily reach them!  😄  I also like having the full set of Blaster's Wrath in it for the bonuses instead of losing a slot to a KB2KD io.

As written above, it is a matter of taste. I do tend to slot Meteor with a KB->KD piece because I've found that in some content a total-wipe of all the critters hit doesn't happen... and sometimes there are things like ally toggles on creatures' corpses, or allies that want the bodies for their own nefarious reasons.
