A lot of people who RP, who might want to share a close space or seat, usually have a hard time cause hitboxes are boxy.

A workaround for a lot of people has been to use Speed Phase power from Super Speed.

Would like to see something like this as a purchasable from S.T.A.R.T. similar to the turn off powers and only affect self powers. It would save having to make mechanical choices for RP convenience, as well as eliminate the glow from Speed Phase for those who find it immersion breaking.

If the power needs balancing, it could speedcap you (so people didn't just take this and Speed of Sound) as well as make you OAS as Speed Phase does.

Just food for thought. All the components are already there for this power to be implemented. And I think it's been at least one patch since the RP hounds have been fed. 🙂

i always wondered how nophase people can stay on earth since its always moving.

like theres no way kitty pryde didnt have a nightmare or something when she was developing her powers and boom suddenly in space.  what is the speed we are moving at?  18 miles a second?

Powers generally have built-in safegaurds. Super strength includes stronger bones, super hearing has either an ability to filter out the excess noise or a brain that can handle the additional audio stimuli. Super speed includes the ability to overcome friction burns. Perhaps out of phase individuals don't move from their spot unless they will themselves to.

There's also the fact that you're generally in uniform motion with the planet. Without wind resistance to change that immediately, you'll still be moving at the same vector as the planet at least for a few... I dunno - seconds, at least?

EDIT: In the case of Shadowcat specifically, the Marvel wiki says she can selectively keep parts of herself tangible. It did also mention she's exploited what you're referring to, kelika, to travel westward as the Earth rotates under her. Hope that helps.

If we're going to have this discussion, then the way phasing works in the comics very much depends on the character and the comic reality. Because some characters do immediately start falling into the ground when they phase. That was actually used to remove an enemy in one instance. The character only phased for very brief instances in time, but when the character was rendered unable to control the phasing, since phasing only made the character able to not be affected by physical matter but was affected by forces normally, he fell down through the floor of the skyscraper they were fighting in, then down into the ground, and supposedly kept falling until he reached the planet core where he was trapped for however long he had left to live like that. As for phase shifted characters that don't fall through the ground or get left behind by the planet? Like @megaericzero says, phasing doesn't remove inertia. And it is air friction that causes thrown objects to slow and gravity that pulls it down. Phased, they aren't subject to air friction, so they don't passively lose inertia relative to the world. And gravity's effect on them is lessened, not lost. (Edit: Though in cases like Kitty Pryde, gravity seems to become a more tangibly interactable object while phased, letting her air walk or simply stay put.) So they remain in motion with the world as it moves through space. A very simplified approach to phasing to keep it easily digestible by the audience.

Hit boxes in this game are in general roughly the size of Texas and all outdoors put together.  I've posted before about my Dark Wolf (? the Dark Control pet) having a hit box large enough to be a game play problem on cave maps.  And recently I noticed my giant ice/ tanker has a wonky hit box too.  They need to be looked at imo.

Not trying to invalidate your request here, just piggyback on it and amplify it.  A quick fix like START or maybe adding a reduced hit box to Walk or something would be great.  Probably have to add a mechanic to not engage the smaller hit box if you have aggro or been in battle within the last 30 seconds or something.  It's hard to imagine someone abusing "I'll move slowly and shut-off all my powers" but I suppose it could happen.

Anyway, yes please, look at hit boxes, including special cases for RP.

Re: The OP - Sure.  I can see where that could be useful for a lot of RPing.  Always the question about whether it is at all an effective use of dev time, of course, but the idea is one I could get behind.  It's not just some ERP thing or a super-niche case.  A lot of players might find it helpful as an RP tool.

As far as comics phasing goes...  It's phasing.  It's a comic.  I really don't think that people should think too much about it.  My all-time favorite phasing character is Vision.
I am old, I do not read comics these days, but "my Vision" could, among other things, stick his intangible hand inside a villain's chest and start to solidify it, causing the villain great pain.  It could quickly incapacitate minions and help turn a battle against a major threat or even be used to destroy some machinery.

But it would kill anyone.  It would block and sever the cardiovascular system and generally destroy tissue and bone and whatever organs that might be in the way.
It should also damage Vision's hand/arm.  His 'synthezoid' body would be affected by having outside tissue, blood, and bone inside of his body when he began to solidify, to say nothing of metal or other such material.

But it's a comic book.

Vision is (pr at least was) one of my favorite characters.  I do (did) not care that his powers "shouldn't" work like they do.  I just want them to "work right" inside of the narrative.  They established how they work, so just roll with that.
