AR/Dev blaster or SOA 'Huntsbane'?

I am planning a completionist run and have decided I want to use rifle attacks. What would serve me better? The huntsbane or the AR/Dev?

rifle/dev will do much more damage

huntsman with bane buildup is dickass damage for single target and OK aoe, even with rifle sneak attacks

AR/Dev will do more damage but huntsman will be a lot more survivable in the not-endgame, which as a completionist is a fair amount of time.

AR/dev you get buckshot m30 and flamethrower going with caltrops most stuff is dead

I'm not 50 yet, but I confirm AR/DEV is the YOLO life. If you screw up your combo, you're in trouble. Then again, you're also AR/DEV. You can pry yourself out of some nasty situations on that alone. I REALLY keep underestimating just how well I can do that in a pinch. No wonder my friend used to main Shoot Man.

True.  But I love AR/Dev Blasters so much, I'm levelling another.  As a Completist.

I've done both. I enjoyed the Huntsbane more(*1), but in order to maximize what it can do, you have to pick up the mace.

 

(*1) I tend to have a lot of fun red side, but playing a Hunstman as a redside gun-toter (and not leaning at all into the Arachnos VEAT concept) was possibly the most fun I've had in the game.
