I have a powers idea for Defendders/Corruptors. "Witchcraft and/or Sorcery". Can place spells on enemies, paralyzing them, turning them into a frog, or any animal or object. Have heals and boosts. New costume pieces as we'll, flowing robes/long skirts/gypsy shirts and scarfs, etc...,

Sorcery is an Origin Pool and Magic is an Origin and not the basis of a powerset available to five origins. Search function demonstrates this has been settled before many times over. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

We already have a good sorcery pool. Almost all powers can be spells or hexes with the sorcery origin and costume pieces abound to support that notion.

You can polymorph yourself using costume emotes and powers but if you turn another character into something else that is playing their game, not yours.

Short answer: /jranger

Keep the suggestions coming.

Given the comments, maybe if this was something that could work for all five Origins (Science, Technology, Mutation, Magic, Natural) like an Elementalist. You can come up with it I believe in you!

You're mixing control effects and heal/buff effects into one set.

Heals & Boosts: staple support effects, but what sets your witchcraft set apart from the sets we already have? Empathy, for example has strong heals (3 different powers) and strong group boosts while Storm Summoning has only one single target heal but makes up for it with a group stealth and a number of offensive enemy debuffs, as well as a random attack stationary pet.

Paralyze: a number of Defender/Corruptor support sets have a hold, so this is an acceptable effect. It shouldn't be as effective as a Controller/Dominator hold, however.

Shapeshift target: this is an interesting twist on an effect we already have with one of the P2W buff powers that could randomly turn you into a rikti monkey. However, I feel like this is more of a soft hold (effectively negates attacks from target for a short duration but they could still run around), and that would make this more of a Control power. Having this and a paralyze power shifts this toward a Control set but not into a full control set (due to the buffs and heals).

I feel like you should pick a lane, support or control, and pitch it that way.  Drop the heals and buffs and lean into control aspects. Throw in a sleep spell, an immobilze, and a confusion.....maybe combine the shapeshifting with confusion for a higher level effect, such as transforming the target into an animal that can attack AND have it be confused.

Or maybe drop the standard hold and keep the animal transformation effect as your support set hold, and then come up with a list of heal, buff/debuff effects suitable for Defender/Corruptor use.

In the meantime, look at existing controller/corruptor/defender combinations to suit your sorcery needs. Darkness Control and Poison would make for an interesting witch type character. It would have a healing potion, an elixir of life, and antidote (boost) to help allies while also giving you powerful curse effects (Envenom, Weaken) and poisons (Neurotoxic Breath, Paralytic Poison, Poison Trap, and Noxious Gas) as holds and debuffs. The Darkness Control doesn't give you the ability to transform someone into an animal, but you can summon a familiar (Umbral Wolf) and curse foes with summoned shadows (Haunt), as well as having additional hold/immobilize powers of Shadowy Binds, Dark Grasp, Living Shadows, and Shadow Field....plus a confusion effect (Possess), fear effect (Fearsome Stare), and disorient (Heart of Darkness). Most of the darkness powers also carry the additional curse of a temporary -ToHit debuff. Darkness has a couple different visual effects to choose from, too, so you can really customize the set to with color, animation, and visual effects to get something that looks not like darkness at all.

Add in powers from the Sorcery pool and you get an additional ally heal/buff with Spirit Ward, an ally damage boost with Enflame (can also "curse" enemies by making them the target and they'll burn their own allies close to them), flight, a direct damage spell in Arcane Bolt, and a self boost damage resistance ward with Rune of Protection.

This. I'd make it a Control set "Transmutation" or something, that could apply to any origin. (I mean, it needs serious stretching for "Natural", but is it really any harder for Natural to rationalize Ice Conttrol?)

  • Holds would temporarily bamph you into a (large) frog or something that can reasonably be targetted, but not atttack much.
  • Immobs might turn your lower body into a tree trunk?  Literally "rooting" you in place.  (Although this might be difficult if we still need to animate the immobilized target doing martial arts kicks....)
  • Intangibilities are not always the most popular, but turning the target into a cloud of mist?
  • a partial transmute could be the basis for confusion / disorientation
  • a pet is easy, you point at something and turn it into a large black cat, panther-sized.

The downside is... that's a lot of graphical / animation work to toss in there.

And my understanding is that's one of the more troublesome aspects for the dev team.

Do keep ideas coming though. Worst case, people say "No."

Although, this may be best transplanted to the "Suggestions & Feedback" forum.
