Developer The Curator Posted May 26 Developer Posted May 26 Fire Control Bonfire This power is now a true pseudopet. Cinders This power now has Adaptive Recharge. It has a base recharge of 8 seconds, and each affected foe will increase the recharge by 14.5 seconds for a maximum total of 240 seconds.
... Posted Sunday at 02:38 AM Posted Sunday at 02:38 AM Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what does being a "true pseudopet" mean. Sounds like a misnomer, no? Inherits caster buffs? Obeys AT modifiers? Specifically what does this mean for bonfire?
Doomrider Posted Sunday at 03:52 PM Posted Sunday at 03:52 PM live beta Using the same build, both bonfires unslotted im seeing ticks of 3.08 on live and ticks of 1.81 on beta (before containment). What gives? Is this part of making it a "true pseudopet"? If so, the containment dmg aint gonna make up for that hit to the base dmg. 3 1 1

It would be helpful if we could fully understand what benefits a "True Pseudopet" confers. 2

I don't want to say it's intentionally misleading to use that wording but that is certainly how it can be, and likely will be interpreted as once someone explains/learns that it means the pseudopet now use the AT damage scalers, unlike on live. So the base damage goes down as a result, and we're given some of it back by the 33% for containment damage which is still a net nerf by about 27%. Edited Sunday at 04:47 PM by Doomrider
... Posted Tuesday at 11:16 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:16 AM (edited) Live dominator version has the same damage value as controller. Dominator version on beta. Dominator ranged modifier is 0.95. Controller ranged modifier is 0.55. 0.95 / 0.55 = 1.73 2.64 / 1.53 = 1.73 So the goal may be that "true pseudopets" obey AT modifiers. According to City of Data, live MM bonfire matches controller beta damage per tick at 1.53. They have the same ranged damage modifier of 0.55. But I'm unsure whether or not the live MM bonfire is a "true pseudopet." According to City of Data, live Blaster bonfire damage is 2.78/tick. Blaster ranged damage modifier is 1.125 1.125 / 0.55 = 2.05 2.78 / 1.53 = 1.82 So this comparison breaks the rule, but I'm fairly certain live Blaster bonfire is not a true pseudopet, since it uses the old bonfire damage. Perhaps we'll see a buff to Blaster bonfire damage soon. Overall, I would like to request that the Devs explain what a true pseudopet is. It's a confusing, meaningless term that appears to be used for the purposes of a stealth nerf in this context. Please provide useful, clear patch notes. Edited Tuesday at 11:19 AM by ... numbers 2
TygerDarkstorm Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM I want to say True Pseudopets are also not as procable due to pseudopet behavior, but don't quote me on that. It does appear they brought them in line to respect AT modifiers. I don't play Fire Control much on live at the moment, has anyone tested to see how bad this change feels for controllers (if it does feel bad) on beta? Global: @Valnara1; Discord Handle: @Valnara#0620 I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂 Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster

The only real noticeable difference from a power becoming a real pseudopet is inheriting AT modifiers, which for damage on controllers is a bad thing as they have a really low AT modifier. Controllers can usually utilize Containment to be on par with other AT's on the limited set of powers they have available, but that's not truly the case with a lot of the new true pseudopets (Tesla Coil, Vines, Gravity Distortion Field) which only have a 33% containment proc chance. Another example of a damage nerfed power is Arsenal Control's Tear Gas (where most of the above powers were likely copied from), which has been dropped from pet modifiers to controller modifiers and from 100% containment to 33% containment. Same for MMs. The Blaster and MM Epic Pool version of Bonfire has had the appropriate flag for quite a while though; and currently there's no difference between Live + Brainstorm. So personally I think this is the Dominator + Controller version playing catchup.
... Posted Wednesday at 01:02 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:02 AM Ok yeah. CoD has Live Blaster bonfire at 15 yard radius with 10 targets, but Controller/Dom at 25 yard radius with 16 targets. Which seems to be inline with how many other control powers work.
