Farkon Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I'm mostly new and I want a big sword to slap mobs around and to regenerate damage I take so that I don't die Thus I want to try out Titan Weapons with Regeneration. I was wondering which archtype I should try and what powers/enhancements I should take. The reason I ask is that there was an update to tankers and it looks like they can get regeneration now... and after reading around, there was a sentiment that tankers were basically better brutes in terms of handling content both solo and for group play.
SeraphimKensai Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Tanker get more HP, and this more Regen as each tick recovers more HP. Regen wants to be paired with a set that provides a great source of knockdown to help you Regen more HP while your enemies are picking themselves up. I suggest building layered resistance to reduce the amount of damage that gets through as Regen, so you ultimately have to Regen less HP. That said slow resistance will be your friend. 1
Erratic1 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 As @SeraphimKensai notes, Slow resistance is very, Very, VERY important. Get to 95% on my planned build for my Regen/Fire Tanker. I think it would be perfectly fine on a Tanker. Were I doing it on a Brute, I would probably feel more pressure to push global recharge so you can abuse Moment of Glory more often. There is great beauty (Brute or Tanker) running in, popping it, and whittling down a group while they ineffectively whiff at you.
Alter Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Would anyone have an example build for this as Tanker? I'm also new and trying to come up with some sort of plan for this combo.

I'm also new and trying to come up with some sort of plan for this combo. I typically don't just give out builds as I practice the feed a man a fish vs teach him to fish mantra. That said download mids, try and make a build yourself, state what build goals you have and I'd be totally willing to work with you to try to get more efficiency out of your build. Right off the bat with Regen... Aiming for high slow resistance is paramount and you can actually get 100% slow resistance based on a combination of ailment resistance, integration, winter's gift proc, and combinations of 2-3 pieces of various Winter IOs. Build for Max HP. You want to have 3,534 HP after all the things I list, but not any more as that's the cap and any more is wasted. Having max HP means your Regen ticks will be larger than if you didn't have max HP. Assume your character is going to have the 4 state boosting accolades, slow wind (this +HP is perma with decent recharge slotting and minor global recharge), ailment resistance's +HP, and then building +HP set bonuses (luckily their usually the 2nd bonus after a bonus to Regen which is useful for Regen tanks). Resistance to Regen debuffs, you'll get this by taking/slotting fast healing, ailment resistance, integration, reactive regeneration Other considerations for Regen tanking: Knockdown is your friend, a mob on its ass isn't doing damage or debuffs to you, which helps you Regen during that time. Padding for either resistance or defense: there's 20% DDR in the Regen pool, which is barely anything. If you build for defense, eventually attacks and more importantly defense debuffs will get through to you. I agree with @Spaghetti Betty in thinking the 20% DDR is a trap. I feel you're more likely padding for resistance to attacks, which you get resilience, and can supplement with things like tough, or stacking +res bonuses. That said I for higher level game play I enjoy juggling things like Rune of Power, Melee Core (which also boosts your Regen), Barrier, and Demonic. MoG is a nice oh shit but it's uptime is small enough that even with its CD reduced to 2 minutes, it's still only useable 12.5% of the time. On the Titan Sword side of the house: Make sure you slot the Force feedback proc, maybe two of them. Have in a cone that doesn't require momentum and maybe whirling which does. Defensive sweep is a great place for an LOTG 7.5. Anyways I gotta roll to work. Best of luck. Edited July 8 by SeraphimKensai

I haven't played this game since before IO's were even a thing on live, so I'm still attempting to learn how these builds are all thought out and assembled. I will download MIDs and give it a shot. Right now I'm mostly trying to plot out a leveling build and slots to transition to start filling in IOs when I'm able to afford them. I assume slotting is planned by the set bonuses that are only able to be put into specific power types correct? I've also never played TW before, so I'm excited to make this thematic idea work. Reading some posts around, it seems most powers are desired in TW. Is there a strategy when planning out a new build as far as knowing if a power can be skipped to add in an IO set to make the regen aspects complete without gimping damage potential? I'd like to still be able to solo on this character and team as well. Any guidance in these areas as I work on throwing together a build would be much appreciated!
SeraphimKensai Posted July 8 Posted July 8 You're welcome. I'd recommend installing the open beta server as well and reading the forum sections on it for pop menus to give your character levels, IOs etc, so that you can test your character out with a full build before you commit to actually investing the time/influence on the production servers. Once you have a build that you like aimed at being a final build. What you could do is by generic IOs to slot your power picks until you can afford the actual set based IOs that you'll use in the final build. Once generic IOs get to at least lvl 30, they are pretty comparable to SOs with the caveat they never expire. Build theory for IO set bonuses takes a cumulative look at all the IOs you have slotted on our character. Look up the "Rule of 5" so that you don't slot bonuses over 5 of the same kind as then their affect is lost. Mids tab for view can give you data on any time that happens so you can adjust your build. Note though that individual powers have limits as to what kind of IOs can fit into them. Regarding Titan Weapons play around with it on the beta server to get a feel of the play style. Some people like it, some don't care for it due to the momentum mechanic. You may have to skip a power here or there in Titan Weapons to fit in everything you need for Regen (but Regen with IOs you can potentially get away from quick recovery, or possibly MOG if necessary. You won't want more attacks then needed for your attack chain (unless your using them for set bonus mules). It just takes some experimenting, and that's why I recommend the open beta server to get some experience before you end up $500 mil influence into the toon and decide that you don't care for it. Anyways best luck.
Farkon Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 So I've leveled a brute to 30 and tanker to the 40s, Brute was a lot eaiser to level up and doing 250 a hit when I stabbed, which was pretty awesome, damage as a tanker sucks but I can eventually wittle enemies down,(Except when I soloed my patron missions, I had to second wind revive 3 times to win) spinning around knocking everything down is the highlight as a tanker and even without having incarn, I was tanking for a Imperious task force, we made it through but I died a lot. Probably going to get earth mastery for the quicksand and other big aoe as my epic powers. mu, psionic, and soul seems like good picks as well.
Farkon Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 (edited) So I hit level 50 and gave a crack at making a build, dunno if it's any good but I have a decent amount of regeneration, which was what I wanted in the first place. I don't have a Tanker Regen/TW nor a build or I 'd post it, BUT my suggestion is to (first off refer to @Spaghetti Bettyfor any regen related builds) search for builds that have either both sets you desire or builds that have one of the sets and then combine them to make your own. I am, of course, assuming you have MIDs. I learned from being taught with builds, not being instructed on how to build. People will tell you to increase this or that but forget that they are used to the game and have forgotten how daunting and overwhelming it can be. GL out there! -WT

Warshades Posted Sunday at 06:48 PM Posted Sunday at 06:48 PM 13 hours ago, Farkon said: 2nd build after modifications recommended by the community. I can take a look after work, but a few suggestions off the bat: Do not skip Reconstruction. If there's any power that's most skippable it would probably be Fast Healing. It offers a relatively low amount of regen compared to what you get from other sources like Reactive Regeneration and set bonuses. Reconstruction is your fast recharging heal and you want to have it, preferably slotted. You can boost your e/n resist by splitting Superior Gauntleted Fist into 2 sets of 3 for the 6% e/n resist it offers. Priority for getting resists is based on the most common damage types, s/l first, e/n second, then whatever amount of f/c/psi/tox you can get on top which are less common. I wouldn't recommend slotting to much recharge into Build Up. High recharge slotting reduces the chance of the Gaussian build up proc activating. Maybe 1 recharge IO at the most. Rather than doing regular 1 acc and 1 dmg IO in some attacks, it's more effective slot the acc/dmg HOs which boost both while using 1 slot. Priority is to try and get your accuracy to at least 95% (make sure build up and the Gaussian proc aren't toggled on) to enemies at +3 (you can set relative enemy level at the top area of the mids screen).
Warshades Posted Monday at 04:24 AM Posted Monday at 04:24 AM Quick sample build. The accuracy of some powers isn't the best and it would help to get Tactics earlier into the build or else change some of the power slotting to improve accuracy. Without Tactics, if you exemplar down, Arc of Destruction, Rend Armor, and Dominate don't quite hit 95% accuracy to +3. I've not played Titan Weapons since back when CoH was live so I kept your same power picks from it as I'm not very familiar with the set. Tanker (Regeneration - Titan Weapons).mbd
