Isit Hotinhere
Hi All, Recently i've noticed that COH: Homecoming (homecoming.exe) , when i'm playing is jumping from it's usual 150 ping, to 1500 or so, then back again, for no reason, (I'm not downloading or uploading anything, aside from the game) I've added homecoming.exe to the firewall to allow it as an app, but wondered if i need to allow specific ports, or to make my PC a DMZ or something on the modem router, to help? I've no idea what has changed to cause this. It happened a while ago as well, back in may, but it appeared to fix itself. I suppose it might be my broadband connection, but i want to be able to prove it isn't (example: it doesn't do anything wrong when im watching a stream on twitch) Thanks,
Zep
Routing out on the internet can be weird. Each packet can take a unique path. Open the task manager if your on windows, click on Performance and check your connection speed in real time by clicking on Ethernet/wifi as needed. If your on wifi your neighbor using the microwave and any number of other things could be the cause. ** Asus TUF x670E Gaming, Ryzen 7950x, AIO Corsair H150i Elite, TridentZ 192GB DDR5 6400, Sapphire 7900XTX, 48" 4K Samsung 3d & 56" 4k UHD, NVME Sabrent Rocket 2TB, MP600 Pro 8tb, MP700 2 TB. WanderingAries
There's no reason you should have to do Any of that. I would focus more on examining your environment first. Call the ISP and mention the high ping so they can check their lines to the house. Check your house for things that Broadcast on the wifi frequencies (radios, home phones, etc). You should be able to take out of the box network hardware and be fine.
