To clarify my post and others -- I read this as people talking about exemping to lower levels *after* they hit 50 and get their IO's and slots. I don't think anyone has actually said "you can do it at level X prior to hitting 50". I might be wrong, and if so, would like to see the clarification.

Hypothetically, it might be... but you'd need 3-slotted Hasten, PA 3-slotted for recharge (never mind damage), 5 defense powers for LotGs (EDIT: Not so hard with illu, as it has 2 such powers by itself!) a KB aoe attack to trigger the Force Feedback proc, and a source of + recharge that can also stack or be made perma. For a level 20-ish build, that's asking a LOT.

Of course, now I want to try this, but I don't have time right now... maybe when I get home 😃

  2. I wonder if, for the teleport one, a 2-second untargetable or self phase effect would be better? That way, enemies have a small delay reacting to your presence, giving you time to queue up an attack or something? Granted, there already IS such a delay (due to lag and such) but this would provide a bit extra of a cushion for those with slower reaction times or whatnot.

It's still a "combat" thing, but it could also be used to avoid combat as well.

    I dunno, just spitballin'.

  3. @BurtHutt Yes, this TF is VERY verbose. The very first NPC you encounter has a 7 or 8 page dialogue box... and then you take them hostage and they make comments throughout the mission (or you can skip it and attack, making them run away instead).

Dr. Aeon also makes mid-mission comments via caption boxes, and there are several bosses who quip at you at 75, 50, and 25% health, random things you can click to read a description or a bit of lore or a joke, as well as random NPCs saying random stuff to one another as you approach.

And I'm 50/50 on it because while there is a LOT to read (and a lot that can be missed), it's all really good. However, the ASF really is the most wordy piece of content in the game, so casually blasting through means you're not gonna have any idea what's going on. If the writing wasn't as good as it is, it would feel really obnoxious.

My suggestion would be to duo or trio this with one or two others, with the understanding that you'll take your time to read everything, and expect to take 2-3 hours (I wouldn't advise soloing it). After that, you can join normal 8-mans and speed through and you'll still know what's going on. However, know that there are different ways to solve the different puzzles, and some dialogue trees you may miss the first time around, so maybe do a couple "read everything" runs to know what's going on.

  4. I'm torn on this, because you're not warned in advance by the game that you need a specific team composition/abilities for a certain part of the TF... OTOH, I was on an all-tanker hami raid and we pulled it off with temp powers and such. If you have everyone use P2W to change their starter prestige power to the Taser dart, you should get enough mag to break through the weakened mito's defenses. Slot "Chance to hold" procs in your powers. And while only available for a short time during the year, the Five Golden Rings temp power would also be very beneficial here. Also, you can use the Rikti to attack Hamidon and defeat the mitos. Just stand near the Rikti (in stealth obviously), fire a potshot at a yellow, it will shoot you and hit all of them, they'll agro onto hami and start killing the mitos. Circle around and keep doing this and they should clear most of the mitos for you.

But, adding an extinguishable "hold" power I don't think would be too awful. I'd probably either revoke it after the mission, or make it work like the Clockwork Immobilizer (in that in only works on Clockwork) and have it only work on Hamidon. But being able to save it and use it in other content would be too OP, so there's have to be a limit on it besides just number of charges.

  5. When you say "ableist", do you mean from an in-game perspective, or a real life one?

Cuz if it's in-game, then "not really". You don't need a crazy incarnate IO'd build, you just need to pay attention to what's going on instead of leeroying all the mobs.

If you mean from a real life perspective, well, ALL video games, by their very nature of being an interactive medium, are abelist. You need to be able to see (and sometimes hear) what's going on, be able to know what to do with the information provided, then be able to execute by manipulating the controls (usually with your hands). So calling master badges ableist feel really disingenuous.

If you want to talk badges that are specifically problematic in that regard, then the convo pretty much begins and ends with the ski slopes, as those take actual reaction time and ability to make subtle movements and micro corrections. Master badges just require mindfulness (and teammates who also have situational awareness. This is usually the hard part!), which can be more boring than difficult.

That said, if you legit have problems getting these and are on excel, shoot me a PM and we'll get a posse together and bang 'em out for ya 😃

  6. I'm for it!

The TFs have a lot of lore which gets thrown aside in the rush rush rush to get rewards, and it'd be nice to actually experience it and take one's time without holding others back, or worry about getting stuck because one's favorite character doesn't have the tools to deal with a +4 AV. As long as it's an option (not a total change to the TFs), and the rewards are reduced as CA said, I'd call it fair.

  7. Yeah, I feel like "more hair styles that hide ears" would probably be easier to implement, as removing the human ears would require all new head models.

Actually wait, moar hair would also require new models... derp.

But in either case, even cat ears aside, I'd like a way to get rid of the ears. If you have a full mask, your ears are just painted the mask color and that always annoys me. So either way, +1 for more options 🙂

Now I'll be blunt: I absolutely abhor PvP.  I will not enter a PvP zone for any reason whatsoever.

You know you don't have to PvP in a PvP zone, right?

I mean technically, if there's someone of the opposing faction there, then yeah... but if you'd ever actually go into one other than RV, you'd know there's almost never anyone there to worry about! Every time I go to Bloody Bay, I get my Shivans, do the Vincent Vega meme, and leave after 5 minutes.

    But still, your choice 🙂

  9. Hmm, I'm a bit torn. On one hand, I do like badges, and also I have nothing against no deaths/temps/etc.

However, even without incarnates,  these trials aren't particularly difficult. The Master requirements would just mean that my next run (when Live) would take 15-20 minutes instead of 10. Not sure there's much to "master " there.

But, whateves, I'm cool with whatever!

  10. I think some of the new DSynchs are going to have some good demand. Acc/Recharge (also /threat but lol) can be useful in SO many powers, especially those that don't take sets (Like Siphon Power and Fulcrum Shift). Some existing HamiOs might lose value, since some D-Synchs are just reskinned versions of existing special enhancements, and people will probably dump those when they don't get the newer, shinier ones.

As for the new IO sets, though? Meh.

Maybe keep an eye on End Mod sets. The buffs to electrical blast (making it do more damage based on how low a target's endurance is) might have them see an upshot in demand, especially the newer ones that also enhance damage.

    That's all I got.

  11. Funny thing is, she landed and started jumping around, but couldn't even clear the railing; then she stopped and became vulnerable again after summoning the ambush. I know what's SUPPOSED to happen, which is why I'm reporting what actually happened. Sadly, I didn't think to pull out the combat monitor to check her for debuffs or whatnot to diagnose the cause =/

  12. If you're talking about basic IOs (that aren't part of a set), then the drop off is closer to 2. If you take two level 50 Recharge IOs (roughly -43% recharge each) and slap them into Hasten, you've already hit the ED drop point. Adding a third would only yield an extra 2 or 3 points of recharge... which you can also achieve by boosting the existing two IOs to 50+5 and save yourself a slot to use elsewhere

  13. Depending on how entrenched you are on your current shard, maybe make alts on each shard and try to make an sg with the name you want, and if that works, then have everyone move to that shard?

Granted, this won't be ideal if you have an RP group on Ever or a PvP group on Indom, but otherwise, shard transfers are free and it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Also, if your plan was to try to get this other SG to give up their name somehow, I don't think that would fly. Afaik, there's no sg rename tool, so you'd need the devs or GMs to do it, and, as I found out the hard way (not the badge), they don't involve themselves in "SG issues". So you're probably better off coming up with a different name.

  14. The only issue i see with that kind of inf sink is that players who don't have billions of inf won't be able to partake.

Also, the grind is what keeps people doing i-trials, and incentivizing fire farming over raiding seems kinda counter intuitive for an MMO.

That said, I'm not against the idea, just pointing out its downsides 😃

  15. Control in general is depreciated in late game content, especially when Incarnate powers come into play. But Mind seems to get shafted a bit more, considering that many of its controls stop working thanks to the actions of inattentive teammates.

Sleeps, this is obvious. They wake up when attacked. If the team is ready for it, fine, but I've lost count of the number of times the team was busy with a group, a second one tries to engage, I put them to sleep... and then someone turns away from the fight and fireballs the sleeping guys and we get overrun. And it's always a fireball, even if we don't have any fire blasters on the team, it's so weird!

Confuse. Sure, you can attack without fear of retribution, but people seem to love insta-killing shield drones, Rikti Guardians, Immunes Surgeons... you know, critters that are now helping the party? When I bring this up, it's 50/50 as to whether or not the response will be "dont tell me how to play my character" So, whatever, but it's kind of a waste of time confusing those things then and I guess I should just mindlessly attack like everyone else!

Terrorize is the same deal as sleep. The critters won't attack or move unless you hit them, so of course people instantly go after the fear'd dudes instead of the ones actively shooting. Whatever.

Tk affects four targets in addition to the anchor. If the anchor dies, the whole ability fizzles, freeing the other four. Guess who always dies first?!

I don’t know if this is official, but my headcanon is that Mr. G is the Praetorian version of Agent G.  Although Praetorian Mr. G (later) says he is also Doppelganger, who is the Praetorian counterpart to Protean, who as far as I know isn’t Agent G.  It’s all very complicated.

The St. Martial version of Mr. G is definitely the same one as the Praetorian Mr. G, though.  During the fall of Praetoria, you save Mr. G (in the Inside Information tip mission).  He relocates to Primal Earth and settles in St. Martial, where the events of his (very good) arc there take place.

I mean that sounds cool and all, but I'm like 75% sure we were told that Mr. G. is the Praetorian version of Protean?

    Praetorian Protean sounds funny 😃
