I'd make any build that does base editing have fly, but you can do the same with a p2w flying power.

I've seen people lose full days to base building.  I don't think running out of P2W jetpack time would help. 😉

  2. About the only thing I disagree with Mezmera on with that post is the AOE hold recharge. That got knocked down hard, years ago, and could use a tweak - there's a good bit of space between "better recharge" and "constant spam," and if constant spam is a worry, a recharge cap (or just not letting it be affected by recharge) can be tacked on.

  3. I wouldn't want to convert an existing IO, personally.

New set? Sure. Looking at the stun sets, there aren't any "offensive" stun sets - all acc/stun/rech/etc. So there's room there for something to be created for actual stunning attacks that do damage. (Back when zone PVP was more popular on live, I had an energy/energy brute... couldn't be TP Foed, thanks to EA, and I had stuns in every attack. Lots of complaints 🙂  )

  4. ... in regards to the OP, the sky is not falling, DOOOOOOOOOOOM is not upon us, there won't be a "caste system" and if someone gets spammy, report it to the mods and go on with life.

If there's an option that can be added for people to ignore them, fine. If not... just ignore them.

  5. I know what you're referring to - used to play some text based games,  after all (still have Zork sitting around somewhere.) Even SCUMM based games from Lucasarts and similar were like that. And I think that's where you're going with it - say...

    /Read newspaper

    > The front page story is about Manticore's "special" arrows and how a Rikti is now filing for child support because of them. Tabloids, amirite?

But ... while I can see some value in having something "with more description" on it (see: newspaper) ... as you yourself point out, we can already do this with text.  I can already do /em walks to the counter and gets donuts for everyone. "I hope everyone likes sprinkles!"  or /em reads the paper - some tabloid nonsense about Manticore.

Yes, we can put some extra description in some things, but... would we really want them hanging around? Or adding more systems (on top of the already ... *eccentric* text editor... can we get that worked on before anything?) for kind of a niche use?

Now, if this were part of an addition where we can tag *actual objects* in bases as well (the newspaper on the desk, click and it shows it's from last week, click on the takeout container and get a note that it... should probably be thrown out before it gains sentience,) I think I'd be more for it, but as just text... not really sold, personally. Even as an RPer, it'd be *really* niche.

Did anyone else notice the other villain groups?

    killing crew

    revelation

    twilight men

    fear factor

Any guesses on what they turned into?

There was some discussion on it on the old guide I had on the original forum:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20120905065800/http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=117073

The Killing Crew was apparently the basis or the original Sky Raiders.

    Twilight Men = Malta

So my question for you is do you like power sets that stand out as unique or wish they were more similar to other sets for that type?

    "Yes."

The "standard" set layout is fine as a guide, but if every set followed it as gospel... it would be pretty boring. You could collapse them down into one and just give them custom graphics instead. I want sets to inspire ideas for characters, or backstories, or just be fun and unique in their own way - whether it's secondary effects, look, breaking that order, or having some other quirk... at least up to a point. When they start feeling like they're there to have you chase a mechanic (see: dual blades combos,) they become less fun.

@Greycat, funny you mention respecs being purchasable.  With the greatly increased access to respecs (every 10 levels, plus you can buy them...), perhaps changing the reward from the Respec Trials to grant a build slot instead could work.  I think the last time I actually ran one of those trials for the respec was way back on live (shortly before CoV came out, IIRC)

Eh, maybe as an option, but not as a wholesale change, I'd think. One of the complaints i typically hear about using builds is that you need to treat it like a second character - the sets don't transfer over, it gets filled with its own enhancements.

Better yet, put it in as an option on the trial with its own badges. 😉

  9. Looks like you ended up "outside" the zone. I had that happen to a character when Siren's was rotated. Just get TP'd somewhere, maybe go back to and out of your base, and you should be fine. Worst comes to worst, ask for a GM.

(See below, attachment, for instance - Siren's, outside the war wall. If you look WAAAAAAAAY down on the lower right of the map, you can see part of my marker.)

  10. There's always "Turn it off and on again." Yes, I know, cliche. But on the other hand, you're asked to do it because it's needed at times.

But, yes. The game's essentially a self contained little world, software wise. It doesn't interact with or even know about your email (or any other program, pretty much.)

Actually the staff power Aoe (Eye of the Storm, I think?), where, if you miss, at least you did some cool Break Dancing.

Ah yeah. Staff... what is it, Innocuous Trikes, ala "Got your toes, got your toes, got your toes" that makes the enemies hop around (if they're not already animating something.)

  12. I normally don't like "open Paragon zones to redside" - I think things like the Arachnos base in Faultline or incursion into Atlas are just ridiculous.

Crey's, though, I think can get away with this - specifically because of the direct connection and open gate to the RWZ.

I don't think I'd pull the DE - this is, after all, *exactly* the sort of thing that would raise their ire. (Plus, of course, Jurassik.) Maybe not a huge presence, maybe more underground, but I'd think they should still have some hold in here.

Something I did the other day just to see if it would work. Which it does, but it has to be almost the most inefficient use of powers available: DP Blaster shooting Cryo ammo to put out a fire.

Faster than waiting on the backpack, though. Plus you can do AOEs.

Also nice with other ice and water powers. (I have an Ice/Ice sentinel who, canonically, prefers fire fighting - it's "cleaner" than some of the other 'hero' situations and she's had more than her share of fighting.)

Did you see my post earlier:

If you never play with others that can hold aggro to prevent your VS detoggle, it's useless.

If you never play with others that can grant status protection to prevent your VS detoggle, it's useless.

If you never take powers that grant your character status protection to prevent your VS detoggle, it's useless.

If you only fight enemies that can hit you with a status effect that detoggles VS, it's useless.

...you see my point?  It's a player's choice.  I prefer the toggle, especially since the original had such a long cooldown and a very large up front end cost.

    1. You're aware there are such things as AOE mezzes that can hit you as well as whoever else has aggro, as well as ambushes, right? AOE sleeps, AOE holds, stun grenades...

    2. You're aware that there are teams that do not have people granting status protection, right? Or that it can drop? And that teaming should NOT be a prerequisite to playing the game?

    3. Blaster.  Not available for most of the game.  Not available for much of the game on a Defender or Corruptor for most sets, either.

    4. You're aware that there are a *great many groups* that have status effects, right? Starting all the way down in the single-digit levels and appearing through the rest of the game. Including sleeps, which can cut through the protection some support sets give against mez. (And which, of course, will detoggle VS.)

And no, it is not 'players choice.' Unless you're so uptight about which content you play and MUST have certain things on the team that pay attention to you specifically. Me, I play the *entire* game, from 1-50, on the way up, with whoever comes along, with friends, or solo, and not while going "OMG we NEED this so I don't get mezzed!" Of course, with live VS, I don't have to *worry* about losing it by getting mezzed.

And "Long recharge?" Let's see. Description of VS:

"Creates pet Voltaic Sentinel for 1m0s."

    Recharge time:

    1m0s.

Hmmm. No, doesn't look like you have a point there, either. Everything other than an SO or basic, non set IO build - and even some of those - will have overlap.

So, yes, I saw your prior post and gave it all the attention it deserved. Only bothering to reply to you this time to point out your "points" (mostly thinly disguised "L2P") are seriously flawed,

Got this from wiki or fandom site,

If it's wikia or fandom, don't use those. They still pop up when doing quick COH Wiki searches, and some of the information wasn't even up to date when live shut down or is flat out wrong.

Go to the top of the forum, click "More," pick the HC wiki, bookmark it. Yes, some of it still needs updating, but it's much, much more up to date and risk free.

  16. Or just make them purchaseable after the third is unlocked, through inf and/or threads/empyrians (since those end up - for me at least - building up and sitting unused.) Inf at the least, just as another sink. (Besides, we can buy respec recipes that way.)

Or even just make them recipes. *shrug*

Not even sure 4 is a good cap, might make that higher for those that want them.

For me, Eternals is the Godfather 3 of the MCU.  Not as good as the others or perhaps not as interesting.  It didn't grab me.

Hope the MCU isn't just going to raise the stakes higher and higher with more powers.  Bigger isn't always better.  The whole MCU from IM1 to Endgame are going to be hard to match, much less beat.

Yeah. That's the thing. I keep hearing "it's going to get more cosmic" and "multiverse" and such. And yes, some of the concepts are interesting. I'll keep hopping around the galaxy with Guardians of the Galaxy.

But the big risk is getting to the point where it's just ... well, too big. People could deal with Iron Man. Single person, sure he's rich, smart, etc. but you could deal with him. And with Thor, and so forth. Even with "big cosmic threat coming to eat your face," you could care about the characters. Granted, this took *years* of movies.

They've managed to get bigger and more powerful - Dr. Strange dealing with another dimension (or however you want to look at it) didn't get too out there to lose interest or focus. Wandavision... ok, we'd gotten to know Wanda a little before, but even having "Oh, you're big, chaos, super dangerous power" doesn't lose the character, and I think people can handle her, even if she's doing "big things."

But it's going to be very easy to screw up by going as big as it sounds.
