thank you for the explanation but i dont really see people who invest as people who.. work either.  its more or less loan sharking.

    terrible terrible example

The point wasn't about investing.  It's that if you want your accolades, you get them the old-fashioned way: You earn them.

City of Heroes is not the status board minmax game with extreme competition esports festival some people think it is.

And it's also not ProgressQuest or a cookie clicker. I don't mind farming or taking fast paths, but its arguments like this that turn me into John Houseman.

I know what you’re going to say, you have to wait for a celebrity to die before you do a memorial.  But I am ALREADY dead!

Sorry, city charter specifies you have to be dead dead, not undead.  Council passed it after the Count Chocula Riots of '85.

Again, why should something some people enjoy be removed from the WTF rotation because some others don’t enjoy it?

Why should something some people obviously don't enjoy not be improved?

How does anyone decide which group of people are more important?

How many are asking for the old Posi and Psyche to be added back to the WST rotation?

  5. You get tons of merits for a Quartermass and still nobody's doing it. Meanwhile, every day it seems someone's running the Posis and Pennys since they're relatively quick and still net you the same merits. I think that's where you'd want to Synapse and maybe the other TFs to go.  Four to six missions with some special trickery in the last one and everyone'll want to run them.

The -25% ToHit (self) on Catherine Wheel... not sure why?

Negative mez protection as well.  Are its attacks plus the knockup too powerful that it needed self-nerfing?

Glittering Column looks like someone thought the set needed a power that was a slightly better version of Energy Font.

It's a Containment time bomb with range, I've had good results using it that way. The trick is hitting enough targets with, say, Sparkling Chain to get that Containment.

  7. Some men just want to watch the forums burn, even the builds, I guess.

Only one on my Savage/Regen build is Instant Healing since I'm going the Reactive Regen route.  But then I also took everything in Savage as well.  Sure, no epic pools, but what does a werewolf need with Gloom?

Is it plausible to make a character that just skips the movement powers altogether and just survives on Athletic Run/Sprint and temporary jet packs?

It would allow for some playing around with the pools some.

Have you done this?  Do you have a favorite movement power/why that one?

Yep, my ninja is just a natural origin ninja, so no fancy travel powers.  So, he's sprint, athletic run, jet packs, and the rocket surfboard for when it's easier to travel by flying.

I'm not going to rehash arguments about how I don't see solo pylon or trapdoor runs as offering a large amount of insight about utility of certain build choices for most of the game. When I'm playing the game, I'm stopping to chat, do some inventory management, whatever... and AFAIK none of the Ston tests include anything like social interaction. There is more to Quality of Life than trying to have fastest solo times... literally no one know how a solo times compares unless someone comes to brag or goes looking to complain about performance.. which is certainly valid, but not for sub-60 second times IMO.

I play on Everlasting. I do RP mission teams. Most of my gaming are PUG teams from LFG. I exemplar. I mentor. I've dragged through a Posi-1 with 31 defeats on one day and swept through a Posi-2 in less than a half hour the next.  An RP buddy of mine has had a 50 for over a year and didn't even learn of IOs and builds until recently. I go through a lot of different missions with a lot of different teammates, and I don't even think there's any simple testing you can do to balance around all of that.

The fear only occurs when you use slow Assassin's Strike, and only has a 25% chance to occur. If you're using slow Assassin's Strike on teams, you're neutering your DPS.

Depends on when you're using it.  On lower-level teams, I'll lean into it more on Bosses since we won't have the room clearing AoEs.  On higher-level teams, I'll use it as an opener on Elite Bosses and above to help speed things up a little.

  11. I guess if we're sharing brute experiences, I'm currently leveling up a Savage/Regen and tested him out on Brainstorm and I'm having the time of my life here.

  12. I go by priorities myself, depending on the build and its needs.  Perma-Hasten or as close to it as I can get is usually a given on all builds.  After that, it depends.  Low damage scale ATs and holds get loaded up on procs, melee builds will get varying levels of defense and resist, depending.  Chasing recharge usually gives me enough accuracy and endurance, so I've never worried about that.
