  1. Welcome to the best part of the forums Mystyr.

Well in addition to the costume thread there are multiple writing threads here to post your stories in.

Would've been fun to be there for Beta, I got in at i2 so I've been around for a long while but I did miss some of the OG content.

Also you might be able to change your handle, I would Ping a community rep about it.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Also sorry for the delay I had a bunch of errands to run this morning.

I did write out the dozen or so names on a sheet of paper cut and fold them up

and pulled one out of a hat, the winner of the first forums artz contest is.... ***drum roll***

    Barbarette!

Congratulations! PM me your refs and what style you are thinking about going with for your prize. zb7XgP0P_o.png

  2. Just as an F.Y.I. a thread for this purpose does exist in the art section. zb7XgP0P_o.png

@MetaVileTerror not sure what you find confusing?

The person helping SmallTalkJava (@QueenBethari) created a whole thread for this very

purpose but it is not in the Roleplaying section it is in the Art and Multimedia section. Anyone

else reading this who also wants help in making a costume for their character might want to know it exists.

  3. Welcome to the best part of the forums @Barbarette!

You wish you could draw as good? So does that mean that you do draw?

What made you switch from Blasters to Tanks (I am guessing Blasterette is as implied?)

No worries I never know what to say for introductions either. What you posted is perfectly fine.

You're welcome and good luck and thank you for all the liking you have been doing around the forums.

Edit: Welcome @Seemun Ulfarsson to the best part of the forums as well! Your post happened mere seconds

before I could reply to Barbarette. Hope to see you ingame as well and good luck to you. zb7XgP0P_o.png

I had no idea Liev Schreiber was even in the Mighty Ducks. E9rkOkuW_o.gif

Okay I see that it's from Goon the movie.

The resemblance is strong with this one though.

  5. Last of the Softbrushing for a while, this was another birthday gift artz from Live.

I used to draw a ton of these back in the day... basically anyone who commented on a

fairly regular basis in the art forums got one on their day of Uterine Expulsion Remembrance.

Here then is Slithershot, a vigilante I believe, who belongs to SenseiBlur.

As I understand it she's a gene splicing experiment (part human, part snake) gone awry.

Actually I think Xoza was first IIRC. Back in your "Place to publish stories" thread.

X-men jokes aside, Layla Rei is awesome and I have mentioned her several times over the years to draw

attention to her wonderful plushies. She also makes very fine hats, I know because I had this one made for me.

Also welcome to the best part of the forums Hyperstrike. I remember you from live as someone who

posted all manner of useful guides and just being really helpful to new players in general.

Good to see your text on a screen again and your mug to go with it. zb7XgP0P_o.png

P.S. The Sabertooth bit, obviously a joke, no offense meant...

...besides you clearly look way more like Ray Donovan than Sabertooth. HmWYqjbR_o.gif

Seriously I can't be the only one getting a badass Liev Shreiber vibe from this pic can I?

@Christopher Robin, CWCID? I’m sorry, I am unfamiliar with this acronym.

Oh sorry, it's one I say often enough in these forums that I thought

it was acceptable to abbreviate, it stands for Credit Where Credit Is Due.

Just meaning that it if you are talking up a thing it's always a good idea to mention who

said or did the thing in question. In this case just pointing out what I am sure is an honest mistake. zb7XgP0P_o.png

And just for clarity's sake, of the five who have completed your story four have said or implied it

aloud (Myself, QueenBethari, DJ1 and Xoza) and one was in a PM. Midnight Blue Mage has talked about

the teasers but has not said whether he read it all the way through or not. So five I know of and possibly a sixth.

  9. @Dacy by my count 5 people have mentioned something about reading your story and CWCID unless I missed it

BlackBlade only has 10 posts total and they all appear to be about base building and patches.  If you

mean from earlier in this thread it was Midnight Blue Mage that suggested the teaser

and smaller chunks, DJ1 seconded the idea and I chimed in thirds.

Also it's good to see the quantity of writers and writing picking up in here,

(welcome Iynx and Firebrandi) I suspect more are coming soon as well. zb7XgP0P_o.png

  10. Welcome to the best part of the forums Eirwen (or the larger art forums in your case). zb7XgP0P_o.png

Good to see we have someone with decades of color matching experience and

it's cool to hear you tried out for a position with Marvel.

I don't know if you ever heard of Swanzy (aka Eddy Swan) but back during live he got part of his early experience coloring CoH art
and has since gone on to be a professional freelance colorist working for companies like Xenoscope and Top Cow comics.

I too was a fan of computers for many years and actually started building them custom for friends, family and clients

back in 2000 and I can directly relate to that line about not connecting with a character you've made if you

cannot get the look you want. I went so far as to actually start modding for the few instances where

the CC didn't have a face or costume option I decided I needed for a particular heroes look.

    Fun fact:

    Spoiler

Sidenote:  Did you know the slang term "Limey" came about as a scientific solution to the disease Scurvy?

Turns out it was simply a Vitamin C deficiency that was the cause of the often fatal condition

that plagued primarily sailors since being on board a ship for so many months with

no access to fruits and vegetables led to a point in history where the Royal

British Navy worked under the assumption that 50% of sailors leaving

port for any extended missions would die along the way from it.

The simple answer was citrus juice, initially lemon but later from limes

as they were in abundant supply in the British Caribbean colonies. Barrels of

limes became standard issue on British long voyage ships hence the name "Limey."

I always found it amusing that the slightly derogatory slang for British sailors and eventually

for any British person was named for the cure to a disease and not for the disease it had addressed. rs4wmRnk_o.gif

Thank you so much for reading!

Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out why they would be friends. I'm thinking something along the lines of

      Hide contents

Marilyn is new in town. She never had any friends at her old school, so having even a bad friend feels amazing.

but I feel like there should be more to it, since that makes Annabel pretty unlikable. Do you have any suggestions?

    @QueenBethari coming along nicely.  zb7XgP0P_o.png

After reading what you wrote but before reading Dacy's comment above I also wondered what

reason was keeping them together and the first thought that leapt out at me is that their moms must

be friends and when getting together they often suggest the girls should go shopping together or something

and while neither girl is happy about it they both see something in each other that they find missing in themselves.

Another thought could be a shared common tragedy, i.e. the Rikti invasion devastated both of their homes

and while they don't see eye to eye they both know what the other is going through.

Could work depending on what kind of tone you want in your story.

Finally, maybe Marilyn was being picked on for being the quiet one and Annabel came to her rescue?

Not cuz she likes Marilyn or anything (don't get any ideas that we might be friends or something ugh) but just

because she hates bullys and feels compelled to help when she sees injustice (heroic tendencies being hinted at perhaps).

Not sure any of this is useful and I don't want to sway your

story but if you are looking for ideas those were what popped to me.

  13. I will present the winner with a couple of choices and let them pick.

If they have no preference or are not sure then I will

see what refs I get and go from there.

Options would be mostly what is in my gallery already i.e. pencils, inks, softbrushed, digital greyscale,

a mini-image for their avatar, I sing you a song... you probably don't want the song though. 07K1tHnz_o.png

Here are some examples of what they could expect to choose from.

  15. Hello Eirwen and welcome to the best part of the forums (I know I have responded

to you in the costume thread before but still). To my knowledge they have yet to post any

group screenshots here (you'd think this would be the place for it), your best bet would probably

be to ask in General Discussion or @ the dev themselves if you remember their name.

  18. @QueenBethari

I know it's a very early kernel of an idea at this point but I already like the dynamic you've established between the two characters.

One reads as very blustery and incredulous that she isn't immediately accorded hero status and the other reads

as trepidatious and someone always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Sounds like a fun mix. zb7XgP0P_o.png

Also I have to say it made me smile that Dacy's great story is inspiring you to dip your toe into writing.

Ah well, Italian was the first language I learned to speak as a child.

I should point out @Darth Delicious is far more impressive in this regard, she speaks Frisian natively
