You haven't been to a hami raid or done an apex tin mage lately have you ?  Try about 4-6 merits/min

Team formation time makes those unreliable as a "farm" for merits

It should take shorter working a niche, but it doesn't for me because I don't bid on salvage until I have the recipe. If I start bidding on both at the same time, then yes it likely would take less time. Time to rethink my approach.

I dont think bidding on salvage ahead of time is usually required unless you are looking for a lower-than-average price.

It is possible a schedule to check/bid/craft may help you as it did for me:

    1) Before work - bid on all required items (mostly recipes, almost never salvage), post auctions if not running late

    2) Coming home from work - collect all sales, collect all recipes, craft, convert, bid on all remaining items

    3) Before sleeping - same as step 2

Now that some time has passed, I think it's safe to say that 10 billion would be considered a lot. Less than that - well, you probably have a life outside the game and aren't concerned with the game within the game - making inf.

The market didn't exist when I started playing. I enjoyed the dopamine from the sounds and visuals from leveling up. That was really enough for me. But now - with the market...noticing that I can plunk down 60 million for a hami-o to give away...that's pretty nice.

What boggles my mind is that there are people who would rather play the game than the market. I just don't get people.  Kidding!

Haha I think it's the person.  Personally in all games with AH (Diablo 3, WoW and Cox) I've tried to own the AH.  Often leads to new friendships 😃 and several bitter enemies 😭.

My only dopamine is FOOTSTOMP FOOTSTOMP FOOTSTOMFFFF (spits)!!!!!!!!!!!!

🐾🐾 on a 5 second CD, all mobs knocked up, full 15 enemies saturation, force feedback rez-icon proc, 650% damage cap.

Titan weapons whirlwind attack is a close second but the delayed knockup breaks my instant gratification heart.

    Else, it's /AH.

I do use converters - fairly often, although I intensely dislike gambling or anything where the outcome depends on chance.  But I don't sell the resulting enhancement; I run them only until it lands on something one of my alts will find useful, and then I use it myself.

I'm also used to the idea that it will take a long time before I fully IO out a character.

This is my opinion only, but the old ways don't apply anymore.  If you sell the good IOs, you make profit.  Take that profit and re-invest into creating more good IOs, re-sell good IOs.  Once you get enough (1 billion influence) you start rolling out a several hundred million inf profit each night.  My opinion only, but it will help you IO out all your alts very quickly.  The cost of doing it?  You have to:

    1) Understand that in this video game, you aren't really gambling.  Any risk aversion you have to gambling, be gone!

    2) There is no "helping" no players by not using inf to buy IOs.  When you create good IOs from bad ones, you help everyone, you also make profit.

    3) If you can stop IO'ing your alts for now, create a pool of 1 billion inf by converting and selling good IOs.  Once this pool is created, gradually shift tens or hundreds of millions to your alts.

    My opinion only.  😃

I am poor as a church mouse, it seems.  The richest single character I have has around 60 million inf on her.  Most of my other 50s have comparable amounts, from around 20 to 50 million.  If I put it all together it would probably be close to 200-300 million.

I buy very little with inf.  I buy recipes and ATOs with merits.  I believe that paying for those things with inf, over time, creates a difficult environment for new players.  Nobody ever got billions of inf fighting mobs.

My farming is different, being entirely task force oriented, so I have more than adequate merits to buy recipes for builds.  My builds are improvisational in any case, often focused around lucky drops.  I have lowbie task force farmer characters built to run stuff like Synapse and Citadel for the merits, which I use when a character doesn't have enough for what she needs by herself.  All of my mezz protected characters farm tips for merits as well.

The only difference for me between Homecoming and i23 is that I don't run Architect like I used to.  Used to be that I bought all needed salvage with AE tickets.  I now do buy some salvage for crafting with inf.  I only do this because salvage prices have been given a ceiling here, and AE is not what it used to be.

Gotta play the converting game.  Saves a TON of time farming via TFs and very comparable or better than farming /AE.

Converting game is just using converters to convert low level recipes to rare recipes, or converting ATOs to other ATOs (brute, or scrapper) that sell quickly.

You can do it my dude.

  6. Hello forum helpers,

I am a long time player of brutes using anything /DA, mainly SS/ and Spines/ now looking into TW and would appreciate your help.

Could someone guide me on what powers are necessary for TW single target and AOE attack chain once perma hasten (or near perma) is achieved?  Also, is perma hasten an absolute must or is near perma acceptable?  I've leveled a TW/DA toon up to 32 and understand the momentum mechanic, but am curious what end game TW/ attack chain should play or feel like.  I ask this because experience leads me to believe that the play style or playability of a toon often changes once fully IOd and/or incarnated.  Influence is not an issue if anyone has build suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  7. Just to answer the original topic of "How much wealth is considered wealthy" in this server.

Not mentioning any philosophies (e.g. "wealthy" is relative to the next guy) and how you earn your money in /AE or /AH I would say 20+ billion would be wealthy.

I played since July 20 - today is Aug 13.  I farmed the /AH since approx July 30 and used only 1.5 billion to IO out 2 brutes.  All other inf has been exclusively used for reinvestment into /AH farming. Currently have 5-6 billion floating in the market, 2 billion in email (in case of market crash or /GM decides to stop all AH farmers) and earn about 800-900 million profit each night /AH via 45 minutes of converting on 2-3 very niche markets.  The more influence I have, the more I float into the AH to increase the # of recipes/converters/salvage I can earn overnight.  Total I have earned about 9.5 billion (10% AH fees is extortion...) over approx 3 weeks of intense /AH farming with the majority of profits coming in the last 1.5 weeks.  The more inf I have, the more I earn.

Personally, I've lost interest in the actual game aspect after optimizing my 2 brutes (IOs, incarnates, 4 accolade passives) and play the game solely to rule the AH so this may be a contributing factor.  I am happy the GMs do not counter /AH farming because I believe that us entrepre-auction-housers supply the much needed IOs to the players that need it.

Edit: The American dream is alive and well in this game!

That's great that you controlled a market at all!  There's a limited number of things to do in this fungible economy, and it's got to be rare to find something that no one else is meddling in.  Hopefully your profits will return.

Personally, I found there are 2-3 markets virtually left untapped (except by me).  For my own profit reasons I will not share  (>.>)     (<.<)

All I would say is, with enough influence floating via bids in the market, it is very possible to corner certain markets because of converters.  When I say corner, I mean control about 50% of the supply by a single player via consistent daily bidding/selling/converting at regimented times of the day/week.

  9. 11 hours ago, MunkiLord said:

Influence per minute for dedicated farmers on the low end is 333,333 influence per minute, and just starting out on my Ice/Fire Blaster I'm already around 400-500k a minute, which will only get higher as I upgrade Incarnate abilities and become more efficient in general. And I don't think I'm anywhere near the top end of that either. That also doesn't take into account drops which will raise that number likely a significant amount. Now this is all running solo, having door sitters will lower those numbers.

I imagine the better farmers doing it a few hours a day can easily surpass a million influence a minute.

edit: This is for when farming at level 50. On farms that exemplar you to 49, you can double the numbers. I completely forgot about that.

From personal experience and reading farmer forums on /brutes (Spines/Fire and TW/Fire), the high end of inf/minute is about 4-6 million inf/minute.  Since merits are earned at approximately 1 merit/minute, but usually less, and at the best case of markets or converters you could earn 27 million (after tax) for 100 merits, farming via /brutes is the most efficient use of time.

The purple supply has doubled since July, going from 20-30 IOs for damage types (hecatomb, apoc, armg, rag) to 50+, even 89 Apoc: Damage IOs.

Based on personal experience of having successfully played the AH to earn billions in a few weeks, I am bored of my handful of 50 brutes that I used to game endlessly on live.  It is only my conjecture that some of the playerbase bores of their 50s after complete IO'ing, and incarnate optimization, and 4 passive accolades.  It took me 2 weeks to achieve this (optimized IOs, incarnates, and 4 passive accolades) on a single 50, and another 1 week for my next 50.

The large coalition of which I am part of exhibited an enormous and somewhat continued decline since August.  Although the Excelsior server is always busy (3 red circles upon login), there seem to be less and less 50s playing at any moment.

    Just my 2 cents.

  10. Hello,

This my first controller build with the goal to get perma hasten and softcap to all except melee while providing good bubbles to all.  Please critique away!

  13. Hello

Theorycrafting a Spines/Dark Armour brute with capped melee defense (nearly capped S/L defense and res <-- need help on this) without hasten.  Trying to make it tanky enough to eat alpha strikes with enough end to last through an AV fight while running 2 PbAOE damage toggles without Cardiac incarnate.  Any advice and input is appreciated!
