  1. Anyone ever played this combo? With Beasts' fairly high defenses (without using Fortify Pack) and heals, combined with the high Resists from Sonic, sounds good. Just wondering if anyone has played it, or has any insight on these 2 powersets.

    Appreciate it.

  2. I had one before the rework. It was pretty good. Teams generally love /EA to begin with.

I haven't played it since the rework, but I could see it being a powerhouse.  Some of your resistances should be capped, and the Absorb, heals will be a nice addition. Your 1st upgrade slot some resistance IOs in it, and your final upgrade throw in some Heal uniques (Numina's,  Panacea, Regenerative). They will have a chance to trigger , and it helps.

After the rework, I fell in love with my Necro/FF.

  3. Have you thought about Demons/EA ? It's EXTREMELY tanky.

Anywho....between Demons and ninjas, I would lean just a bit more towards Demons. Ninjas are cool and all, and can pump out some damage....but they have like no resists. Having the ice shields on them would cap them, but when something gets thru it, MAN it hurts.

Demons would have a nice mix of Def and Resists...plus one of your pets will heal also. I feel like Demon Prince is a better pet overall compared to the Oni. I like throwing in the Impeded Swiftness proc in him since most all of his attacks has a chance to trigger it.

Demons= safer, good mix of damage types, good mix of Def and Resists, heal

Ninjas= can pump out major damage, hardly any resists, last upgrade will allow pets to heal. Better kill fast before the enemy gets to you

Bio has 2 sources of -dam in defensive mode: Parasitic Aura and Genetic Contamination. Also has -res in the armor set. Agree with combining Darkest Night (which is the heftiest reduction) and layering with Paralytic Radial Interface (stacks up to 4 of 5% -dam).

I also thought about Bio, but I already have several Bio toons 😎

The only problem with KM is the -damage isn't up all the time, only when Power Siphon is up.

As for primary, ice does more -damage than shield does, and it also does the -recharge which would be nice for team play.

I had thought about doing the same thing, stacking -damage, but when I realized the KM -damage isn't up all the time, I changed my idea to a Dark/DP defender running chemical rounds.

I had forgotten that ice did -damage in Chilling Embrace, it might be worth trying again.

Seriously? I didn't know it only worked when power Siphon was up. Hmm...

    And I have a dark/dp defender. It's pretty awesome!

  6. Hey all.

Thinking of trying something totally new. Looking at building a tank debuffer, and Ice or Shield paired with Kinetic Melee sounds like a gem. It appears you could pump out a LOT of -damage debuff...especially with Darkest Night.

Is -damage debuff actually worth it? Is the debuff noticeable?

Or should I go back to the drawing board and maybe build something for -to hit debuff, or -defense debuff?

    Thanks for any input.

Only for AOE assuming ATO proc. With fully slotted shields and the other defense procs, you can get defense up to ~40.

    Insulation/Deflection: ~16.5

    Dispersion Bubble: ~11

    Maneuvers: ~3.8

    Edict proc: 5

    Call to Arms proc: 5

    Total: ~40.3

TLDR you need to get your gets to 45% def either through raw defense stacking or -tohit debuffing

Softcapped pets are happy pets.  There is nothing better for you as a mastermind to do than getting your pets softcapped however the hell it is possible.

/radiation has some very small ass radius on their debuffs.  I believe it is only 15ft.  and if i am right on how i think radiuseses work, thats melee range all around your anchor.  7.5ft in all directions.  check other radius from other sets to see how small radiations range is.  dark and trick arrow are worth noting

Some masterminds require expensive builds and level 50 with a firefarming account powering you to max level.  Cytoskeleton hamis in Enforcers can bump them up to 20-24% def to all.  thug-cold/trap/dark/etc shines super hard when your enforcers are giving off a ton of defense working with your buffs or debuffs.  on the flip side, if you go thug/ff you will be way over defense softcap and no snare/slow pit.  every single one of the combos you listed do not synergize well.

Forget necro as whole or get some thicker skin while playing it.  i tried necro/ff, necro/dark, necro/thermal and /ff only really works because of mace mastery's power boost bringing them to defense softcap.  necros innate resists are rare damage types leveling up and hard to synergize with any secondary.  i had to adopt team teleport on my necro/dark to really move that dark servant around with its gigantic -tohit aura.  teleport target is also a thing for the servant

beast/nature reroll into beast/cold.  adopt a tundra like avatar and go with it.  beasts innate defenses with iceshields+fog+maneuvers is good times.

thugs you have so many things to work with here.  thug/trick arrow to keep up the natural crap while still having flash arrow at level 1, glue arrow at 2 and the fabled oil slick arrow.  thug/traps, thug/dark.  i can go on but i already typed too much

Don't need PB on FF to get pets to softcap.

  9. Greetings all !

I've not played Empathy since about issue 5 on Live. Someone that has ran with my SG has recently been talking about how her Empath has been such a valuable asset on some HM content...well, any content actually.  So it got me thinking that maybe I should revisit the powerset after all these years.

Now, on Live I had an Empathy/Electric defender. He ended up being nothing but a heal bot. Took everything from Empathy, and like 3 attacks. All slots were dedicated to Empathy powers and Leadership. I played him before IOs, and before ED., if that tells you anything.

Anyway, think I'm gonna give it another shot, and decided to pair it with Water. Figured he would be an ex priest who performed exorcists, but left the church because of too much red tape. There were more so many exorcisms that needed to be done, but he had to get "approval" before he could do anything.  While waiting for said approval, some of the subjects perished, when he knew he could have saved them.

His Water Blast powers are Holy Water that he uses, while using his Faith and divine powers to Heal.

So, my question is what kind of recharge are other Empaths getting Recovery and Regeneration Auras down to? In Mids the build I slapped together have those 2 powers recharging in like 120 seconds, with duration of 90 seconds.

Since it's been decades since I've played Empathy,  anyone care to share thoughts on it now, suggested slotting, etc? I would greatly appreciate it.

Couldn't you get similar results with time manipulation considering you can double stack -to hit debuff?

I think necro/time would be a powerhouse also. Couldn't softcap defenses, but with all the -to hit debuffs stacked with Time...plus heals....might be my next toon.

  11. I agree with what's been said for the most part. Personally, whether I'm playing an MM or a Tank, I love to see a Thermal on the team. Most players stress and push as hard as they can to soft cap their defenses, that they kinda forget about Resists.

Thermal isn't the "best" , but it has a lot going for it. Every secondary is gonna have some things that stick out, but that doesn't mean you should give up on Thermal. It DOES pair well with Demons.

I would suggest, as mentioned, get the pet uniques ASAP (+resist, +defense). Also take Maneuvers, Tactics, and Assault. And of course Hasten to speed up your buggs/debuffs/HoE.  And team. Teams will, in my experience, enjoy having a Thermal.

I was on my Necro/FF on a team, and had several teammates state that they love seeing a FF'er on the team. Same will apply to Thermal.

Necro/time works very nicely for this. Most of your pets want to be in melee and times juncture gives you a very strong incentive to follow. Chrono shift is very useful for recharging soul extraction too.

Very cool! Love the idea. The revamped FF really a hidden gem (along with Necro which was always beautiful). I’ve been pondering a new Necro; your post pushed me over the decision line.

Did you decide to take you MM attacks? And if so, slotting them or leaving with base a lot merely to trigger the ghosts?

Yes, I took the attacks. I constantly attack to ensure that I spawn the Spectres, plus to help with damage and the little bit of -to hit. Also, with how I slotted Life Drain, it heals for 115HP. Doesn't sound like a lot, but that's 13% of my total health.

I'm sure there are probably better ways to slot (like the Soulbound Proc in GKs for one), but so far it's working out really good for me. I think Soul Extraction if off perma by like 13 seconds? I'm gonna keep on playing, finish off my Incarnates, and maybe try to tweak a little bit here and there.

  14. Greetings all !

After reading insights on the revamped Necro, I decided to pair it with FF. From what I gathered,  the pets could achieve a decent amount of mitigation, with the slotting potential of Dark Empowerment being the icing on the cake. I figured if they could reliably self heal, plus have Panacea, Numina's , Regenerative, and Imp Skin procs working together in unison , then if I could bump their defenses up, then they could be a nice little powerhouse.

Finally got my newest project to 50 and at least T1 on all incarnate powers. All I can say is....I believe this is my new favorite MM!

I did not take any Epic Powers (didn't have the room/slots to reap any benefit). I got all my pets to 45% defense to all (except psi and toxic).

And it is glorious. They are so sturdy. With the procs in Dark Empowerment , their heals, and the OF proc in zombies, they are hard to kill. Well, they're zombies. So they're already dead...so does that make them hard to get double killed? Anyway, you get the picture.

Such a strong and fun powerset. Highly recommend to anyone that wants something different , or has never played either set.
