       So, looking around this forum, and the other ATs", I see a recurring theme...people coming on here and asking the same question. 

     

    " What is THE BEST sets?"

     

     

    While at one point in time, I, too, wanted to only play THE BEST. The most damaging, the most OP'd, the most UBER, etc etc.

     

    And then came along MY best.

     

    Willpower/ Staff

     

    Yes, you read that right. MY best is my WP/Staff tank.

    Oh, you're still reading? Great. I'm sure you're wondering why on God's green earth do I believe that WP/Staff is the best. Well, it's not. BUT to me, it's MY best.

     See....I can picture myself as this character. Practically all natural. I can see myself AS this toon. Especially once you understand his Bio...

     

     My toon's name is Rastus. As a kid, my dad would call me that. Unfortunately, I lost my Dad back in 2014 to cancer. I lost my Mom in 2019 (she had/beat cancer, but it was her heart that gave out). And here's where my character's bio develops. 

     

      Brian "Rastus" Fury watched as his parents were slowly succumbing to cancer while he was in his prime. He volunteered to be a guinea pig for Dr. Vaz,who promised his experimental drugs could help.  These drugs were meant to boost one person's immune system to the point that a blood transfusion from the subject could seek out and destroy cancerous cells in another. The side effect was that Brian's body was able to regenerate so quickly at the molecular level, that wounds were almost healed instantly. Brian KNEW he could save his parents!  However ,Dr. Vaz couldn't keep an IV in Brian long enough before his cells repaired themselves. Unfortunately, Brian's parents ended up losing their battle because of this. Although he couldn't save his parents, he knew he could save others. Brian is now a hero for those that can't fight for themselves, even as he fights his own personal demons and deals with his loss.

     

     

    There ya go. THAT is what makes MY WP/Staff Tank MY BEST. It's personal. An extension of me.

     

    So, go ahead and calculate, to the .0001 how fast your attacks are, how much damage each attack does, how long that power takes to execute, how many Procs you can fit into each power, what the absolute "best" slotting is, etc etc. Your toon will never be as "good" as mine.

     

     And when the day comes that I, too, pass on, I hope that my fellow Heroes in game will /em torch , and tell stories/remember the advice/builds I've attempted to give (mainly in the Tanker forums), and perhaps say "He was a good man". And continue to fight the good fight.

  4. I agree...it's hard to say there's a "bad" primary. I guess "sub par" would be better? Haha

     I actually like WP. One of my favorite tanks is my wp/staff.

     

    Oh, and I refuse to play Kinetic Melee or TW. As slow as they are, I hate em.

     

    I hardly ever see DB on a tanker, so I thought about that.

  5. I wanna try something different...

     

     

    What do you think are the "worst 3" primary and secondary powers? I want to roll a new tank, but with a twist. Everyone always wants to know what the "best" is. Well, I wanna know the worst. I plan on trying take what most people don't play/don't like and turn it into something "good". Maybe as a challenge I guess?

  7. Admittedly, I've only played TW once. And hated it. It just felt too slow for me.

      If you truly have a regen rate of over 600% (with no temp/incarnate/etc), then I am genuinely intrigued. My WP/Staff tank (which I focused on max HP/+Regen), only regens 799% with just 1 mob in range of RttC. I'd like to see that build.

When come to find out, they've got an Accolade power (or 2) turned on, along with Rune of Protection and lord knows what else. When I build my tanks, I build them with all "sliders" set to 1, and with no Incarnate powers turned on, or any "gimmick" powers turned on. Way I see it, you can't ALWAYS have your Incarnate powers on, RoP always on, etc etc. I want to see what my baseline is. THEN I can try to improve with slotting/IO set bonuses. And finally look at Incarnates and whatnot, just as icing on the cake or for an "oh $#@! moment".

    I have a WP/Staff Tank, and the amount of regen I get on him is absurd. If my memory serves me right, I think with just 1 enemy in range of RttC, I regen like 104 HP/sec. I wanted as much regen as possible, so I went with Vigor Core for my alpha (+Healing 45%, Accy/End Reduction 33%).

  12. If I were building one, I would probably go this route.

     

    Once you get the 4 main Accolades (Portal Jockey, Atlas Medallion, Freedom Phalanx,Task Force Commander), you are sitting at capped HP.

     

    The build boasts very high defense (almost capped F/C/E/NE), capped Perception/+17% ACCY, +35% Accuracy (I HATE MISSING), and the focal point of the build is regenerating 80.47 HP/Sec with only 1 mob in range of RttC. If for some reason you waded into a group of 10, that would jump up to 126.69 HP/Sec.

     

    Downsides....low F/C/E/NE Resists. However, when you're regenerating so many HP every second, your Regen should compensate that fairly well. 

     

    There's so many different ways to build any toon....perhaps there's a couple ideas in this one to help you. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

  13. Admittedly it's been a while since I've played this toon. My "sustain " is Reaction Time. 

     Also,  the Heal is conditional. You can't activate it any time you want...I believe you can only use when you're at least below 50% health ( and maybe when mezzed?).

     If it's possible to soft cap defenses,  then I will sacrifice a bit to achieve that.

     And I dunno about dropping Ki for Storm Kick...I just have so much fun with Ki Push 😁

  14. I guess it depends on what you're wanting/how you play.

     

    For big game (AVs/GMs/etc), Degenerative Core works pretty good. It gives a 75% chance on every attack that lands (including the attacks from your pets) to debuff Max HP ( -MAXHP Debuff), and a 25% chance to inflict minor Toxic.

     

    OTOH, Diamagnetic Core gives a 100% to debuff To Hit, and a 50% chance to debuff Regen. The To Hit Debuff stacks very nicely with Necro/Dark.

    Reactive Core is also pretty nice. It adds a 75% Chance to debuff Resistance (which will help you/your pets' attacks do a little more damage), plus a 25% Chance for moderate Fire damage over time.

     

    The ONLY Hybrid choice IMO to go for on a MM is Supprt Core. It gives +Damage,+Accuracy/+Defense/+Special to you, and it's DOUBLED for your pets.

  16. This is an excellent combo. With some work, you can flirt with, or even meet/exceed, the defense softcap.

     

     Ki Push is a hilarious power. You hit a baddie, and he flies SLOWLY away from you. It's a perfect to follow up with Executioner. Overall just a fun power.

     

     I can share my build later (when I'm home and have time) if you'd like.

  17. So, it's my understanding that Brimstone Armor gives a chance of fire damage with each attack? If that's the case, does Stone Armor get more benefit from a more AoE focused primary (say like Staff or something) vs a primary more geared towards ST damage (like EM)?

     And this extra damage, is it pushing towards Bio Armor levels, or is Bio still the way to go for most damage?
