I have a Broadsword/Willpower Scrapper named Shellback Sara.  You can stretch the pirate looking female bit with a lot of the Gunslinger and steampunk pieces and tattoos.  I will screen shot an edit when I get home.

When I have Hurricane, I normally Gale so they're already knocked down. Yet due to high group power now they maybe dead due to just the Gale setup...

That is why I don't quite understand suggestions to skip Gale, when a KB:KD enhancement makes it one of the better T1s in the AT, and a properly-supported FF+Recharge stack makes it one of the better T1s in the game, period.

If anything, skip O2 Boost; what little utility it has is based off its secondary effects, and most folks have THOSE accounted for by the time O2 Boost's heal starts putting up significant numbers.  It MIGHT be a good set mule, but then you're robbing other powers to get some little global bonuses that likely aren't as useful as fully slotting other powers for effect.

As far as Hurricane goes, I still say take it

even if it's only useful in certain situations. Unless things have changed, the -ToHit is auto-hit, and it's an absolutely massive number so even through resistances it's still a significant debuff.

  3. I always slotted for set bonuses over enhancement value/procs, with an emphasis on positional defense, resistance, recharge and endurance in that order.

That's why I am such a fan of Corruptors... not only are they dirt cheap to kit out EXTREMElY well under that philosophy, their ATOs can be split to shore up bonuses that would suffer in pursuit of a higher priority global bonus.

So you are for an increase the the amount of debt you get for falling in battle?

How about cutting off the x2 XP and zeroing out all patrol XP when you get debt?

    Is that good enough?

Would you rather have it turn off all XP gain for an hour if you fall in battle?

Back when the game first came out, there was no x2 xp booster or patrol XP.

If you weren't a damage dealer, it was really hard to get influence because it was based on damage done.

    There was no market.

I had characters that had so little influence (non-damage dealers, especially heal-focused Empathy Defenders) that when they reached their lower teens, they didn't have enough influence to fully slot training enhances. I think I had a character that was like half slotted until the Wentworths went live.

Debt was crippling. It seemed to take forever to get out of debt back then.

And, as you might imagine, with only half slotted with trainings only, it was pretty easy to end up defeated in battle.

So you are correct that debt doesn't mean all that much at this point.

So I'm back to, are you asking for a stronger punishment for defeats?

Reading about the way it was in the old days reminds me how much better it is under HC.  The Hollows SUCKED on a Controller, waiting there by the entrance for a tank to materialize, hoping somebody lets you on the team because you're one of 2200 Grav/Kins lingering around the Hollows, and if you DO get picked up, all 8 teammates have the same mission, so you repeat it 5 times and right when YOURS would be next, the team disbands... next thing you know, you see all your former teammates flitting around and they're +3 levels to you and now your mission is -2 so nobody wants to complete it and you can't solo it and... jeesus.   I would have shitcanned this game in four hours if I hadn't rolled a Blaster.

Plant is really the whole deal by itself.

I vote go dominator! Plant/fiery amazing.

Plant/Thorns is a riot as well... once it gets rolling, it's damn-near unstoppable.

Sticking with Controllers, though, Plant/Poison and Plant/Rad are both extremely powerful in their own right, and though I haven't run it myself, I am betting Plant/Traps is sneaky good as well.

Well, that was a fast generic-ed name.

My complaint is not that it was generic-ed.  My complaint is that it was generic-ed when no one could have possibly seen it, so clearly someone reported me from this post in the forum.

I'm wondering why there's no XP for mobs that die attacking each other during World of Confusion?

I mean, it's a bit like Gang War, isn't it?

    /shrug. I'm just wondering.

I don't even need to read the thread, it's just going to be a shitshow about playing the game the right way, no shortcuts, why don't you just play on the test server and all that.

Meanwhile, if out of nowhere the devs were to triple the size and max targets for Tank AoEs, the same folks with a hard-on for farmers will bubble to the surface to tell you what a great idea it is to have triple-strength Tanks and how the original devs missed the mark on THAT one, how great it feels to finally have that addressed.

  9. Claws/WP on a Scrapper is fantastic when you're inebriated or otherwise largely incapacitated.  You basically have 3 buttons to work with, outside of Incarnates/Temps/Pool powers.

You get just as many Critical Strikes procs as any other Scrapper primary, but you're firing off your attack chain 6 times a minute instead of 4 or whatever.

this game has a lot of "I got you" effects that only apply a few seconds later.  in combat that seems long.  Ha ha.  I made it to safety.  you cant touch me.  I'm dead?

Tom Waits has a song about this.

BTW, it's awesome to leave town for the weekend and leave this playing at full volume in the barracks to torture the jackass who was remanded to station for being thiefy.

You know you have altitis when you are scrolling through your list and "discover"  a lvl 1 you don't remember making.

Try coming up with a great name and concept for a character, only to find someone already  took the name, then, a couple months later you're looking through your character roster and not only did YOU create that character with that name already, it's T3'd.

I knew there couldn't be someone else who made a Mercs/Emp named Missionary Physician.

Currently at 84x 50s and 55x somewhere between 1 and 48.  As of December 2022 I had 1920 unused Enhancement Catalysts, 4044 Emp Merits, 42440 Threads, 6673 Shards, and 26706 Reward Merits spread amongst those 50s, and I have labored on it ever since.

    Oh, 'tis a ponderous chain.

I actually run BA/Rad with similar slotting in attacks. I slapped this together when FM and BA got their changes and couldn't decide what to do. Ended up doing FM/SD and BA/RAD.

Man, that is a good-looking build.  Thanks a heap!

  13. Not to hijack, but since Axe is being discussed - anyone got an Axe/Shield build for Scrappers?  I've got an Axe/Shield Brute which is awesome, but the placement of ATOs on a Scrapper is a little trickier than on a Broot, it'd be nice to see where other people put their 50% crit proc.

  14. I *used* to think of a combo I would like to try, then think of a name, then do the build in mids, then test the build on test, then farm the build 0-50, then farm/msr it to 53, use the vanguard merits from the MSR to create Reward Merits, use the reward merits to buy Enhancement Converters, use the ECs to convert all the recipes I got while farming, keeping what goes in the build, flipping what doesn't onto the market and using the inf to buy Super Packs, build out the character and do 50+ content.

Then they kept horsefucking farming every time they looked at the source code, so now the only time I log into the game is when I am in no shape to actually play anything else.
