i been going against my own advice and i been hating the archetype
Schiz0 replied to kelika2's topic in Mastermind
I know for a set to be viable you should not have to take incarnates, but I have found that any set is viable once you take barrier. I know exactly what you are saying though. I have gotten pets to 45 defenses and/ Or very high resist on certain builds and they still get annihilated on 3/8 or 4/8 depending on your secondary. I complained and just stopped playing them for a long time. Then I just decided to play them again and took barrier and now every MM I have played is great. So that is just an idea for now and hopefully something will help them more in the future. -
Yes, I can agree about group invis. I hate having to take it just for that. I have done that in the past though. You should not have to take it just to keep another power that is so vital just to keep it from blowing up constantly. Since group invis was mentioned though it reminded me of dominators and how they get Gleam instead of group invis. I really think that should also be an option for Illusion controllers. They can take out the damage it does too and I would be super happy with just the AoE stun. I also should have been a little bit clearer on Temporal Bomb. It is mostly useless to ME. I have no use for it and it would honestly not help ME. I apologize for generalizing and I am sure on some builds it would be fine. Anyway, I suppose I could just take out caltrops and put Ginvis back in.

The only trouble I have is all the chance to heal procs. When I use those they never seem to actually proc when I need them. Then out of battle or full health they seem to proc constantly. I wish they would make them only proc when you are actually missing health. I also saw someone post somewhere, I forget now, but they block each other from or something so they don't proc as much? No idea how true that is, but what is your experience with them so far?

Please make Force Field Generator invulnerable and/ Or invisible in some way. It is very annoying when (in my case) I am Illusion/Traps and I am in Superior Invisibility and if I have FFG out then everyone can see it and attack it. I play it a lot though with other toons since it is one of my favorite secondaries. It gets attacked and I have to re-summon it. The CD is short, and right now it is only 6 seconds, so it has nothing to do with CD times. It is just more of a QoL issue I suppose. You could even turn it into a version of Dispersion Bubble since they are basically the same thing. I also would not mind a re-work and/ Or new powers to replace Trip Mine(TM is actually very nice damage, but it takes way too long to place it. So even if you made it instant and made the CD longer it would be more valuable imo) and Temporal Bomb is mostly useless from what I have seen, but the FFG issue bothers me a lot more 🙂

Controller pet comparison - are some better than others?
Schiz0 replied to malleable1's topic in Controller
Singularity is amazing! Best pet IMO I don't really count PA as a pet honestly, it is a summon power that is the backbone of illusion and it is amazing, but still not a pet IMO. Phantasm is great when it is alive, which isn't very long normally. It barely makes clones and runs right into melee and dies in seconds....Very annoying! If they kept it from going into melee it would probably be one of the best pets because of the illusion clones. Fire imps are pure fun and chaos....great damage The earth pet is cool. I have him on a dominator so I think I appreciate the tank more than maybe a controller does? Most doms can't debuff or heal with the secondary so maybe we get better use from a tankier pet with less damage. He can really take a beating. I like the plant set, but I don't really like the pet that much, I don't know why honestly lol. Maybe I don't realize what he is doing, or it isn't as visual? I just never liked him much. I think maybe creepers are so cool they maybe take a lot of the spotlight off the pet to the point you don't even need him? I dunno.... -
Earth control is amazing on a dominator imo. You get so much control it is crazy. Even out of domination mode it is the same. I barely notice a difference honestly. I am sure this changes drastically with other primaries though. I do agree though that endurance is a huge issue. You can easily get past this with Drain Psyche. That power is so good! I have to force myself to pick another secondary set over Psi. It is horrible for AoE though, until you get Psychic Shockwave (which is amazing)
-
Awesome! I will take a look now! I appreciate the info!

I think from my brand new experience with Earth control that it really gives you so much control that I have zero problems playing without domination active. I honestly don't even really notice a difference when I click domination. With Earthquake and Volcanic gasses the mobs are flopping up and down and chocking the whole time. I don't take stone cages because I just don't see the point, or the need for it. I don't take salt crystals either, but most people don't take that.

Well, I played this (the first mids build I posted) and it was basically unplayable because of huge END issues. I also noticed I put +recharge in EQ which doesn't work. So I changed a few things. I lowered my defense which I hate, but I guess the Tohit debuff from EQ will help with that. I have just been testing on +3/+8 and I had zero problems. I hate not having a heal, but that is why we have inspirations I guess. I also was not even sure if I was perma domination, but it IS, so that is great. It does just as good though even without domination active. Overall, earth is just a killer control primary. I really like this build so far. I might try earth control with some different secondaries though just for some fun testing. It was VERY difficult not to pick Psi Assault because Drain Psyche is SO good! It really spoils you! I have not played a dom in a long time. I normally play controllers and brutes, but I feel like doms are a nice mix. So I want to give it a try again. I have never played earth control since on a controller it always seemed like too little damage I guess, but it seems perfect for a dom. I probably didn't get some of the slotting right or optimal. I have honestly never played nature. I will look now! TYVM 🙂
-
The main reason I love radiation is Choking Cloud with a Hold proc IO 🙂 One of my all time favorite powers! I wish something else was similar with any other secondary. It is an always on toggle and I love it. I still rarely pick radiation anymore though so that sucks 😞
-
I have had both. The first character I ever got to 50 on live was Illusion/Rad. I solo'd everything with it (AVs and GMs) and it was a lot of fun. The first character I got on Villains side when it came out was Bots/Traps. So I had a lot of experience with traps too. You can honestly solo +4/8 with traps alone and not use anything else. You can do the same with /storm too (off topic sorry) But I have done both. It isn't fast, but doable just to try something different lol. Anyway, I just made Illusion/traps since I didn't even know it was available until I saw this thread. He is 50 now and I really love it so far. If I had to pick I would choose traps over radiation. The only power I actually miss in radiation is choking cloud, which IMO is one of the best powers in the game(especially slotted with (Lockdown +2 chance to hold) GOD I love that power so much! Probably because it is just a toggle and I never have to worry about it. My only problem is it seems like I do less damage than I used to do. I don't know why honestly, but it just seems to be lacking. I don't know if something was nerfed or what? I just feel that something is different somewhere. Here is my build now though. I changed acid mortar just now, added another slot and I am going to try chance for toxic+chance for negative X2. I am also going to change Poison Trap and remove the +2 mag hold and add EH? probably ghost widow's chance for Psi. I might try to change some more, maybe Seeker drones so I can add a damage proc to those as well? I just need some more damage I think. EDIT- I think I just realized why I seem to do less damage (this is only on AVs) It is because I am not really using Poison Trap enough. I get caught up with PA, and other stuff, and I have been forgetting my -regen comes from poison trap lol. So it is more about the AV regenerating vs low damage IMO. Bolo – Enter The Dragon. (MA Brute) The Three Storms – Big Trouble In Little China. (MA Villains, not really brutes at all) Colt – Return of The Dragon. (half and half MA Villain, partially a brute I suppose?) Gogo Yubari – Kill Bill. (a tasty little Morsel of a MA Villain) I think Bruce Lee might be a Brute though? Didn't you see Fist of FURY! Bruce Leeroy on the otherhand is definitely a scrapper! Sho'nuff - (MA Brutish Villain) Playtime's over boy! When I say who's the master? You say! Sho'nuff!

I have been playing this for awhile and it is mostly fine, but I know it could be better min/maxed. I also see some new enhancements I would not mind having in my build, like the Power Transfer chance to heal. I have probably over slotted some and possibly under slotted others, but who knows. I would also like to keep my debuff resistance vs recharge and run speed at 95% if possible too, but mostly everything else is negotiable IMO. TYVM for any help or suggestions! Also, if you think I could do more damage with another primary, feel free to include those builds as well. I love AoE, so TW is great.
