  1. I did too (rad/fire). Got the basic Degenerate Interface proc and noticed an immediate boost in kill speed. I still need sets for my two Mu powers and one more LOTG. Having some endurance issues though when I go full-bore. Does Ageless fix that? I note that your suggested build uses a Musculature in the alpha slot (though I found myself seriously considering Cardiac). I assume I shouldn't try to switch over to a no-xp-gain-all-inf setup until I finish slotting out my incarnate slots.
  2. Here's an update to my build. I have incorporated some of Coyote's suggestions, but not all. I really like my KB->KD enhancements, for example, and for the time being plan to keep all 4 of them. Though Stone Cages can duplicate this, I am not in the habit of always throwing it down, and this also keeps targets it misses in large packs from being flung away by a big Gale or by Tornado. Watching lightning bolts from the storm throw people to the ground when they run into the area (from ambushes or from inadvertent pulls) is infinitely satisfying. I got to 50 last night, and though my Alpha is unlocked, I do not yet have the materials to slot it (perhaps tonight? We shall see). I'm currently very seriously looking at Intuition for the Alpha slot. The only differences between this build plan and what I actually have on live at the moment are that Stalagmites only has basic IOs (I'd like to put Stupefy in it rather than Rope-A-Dope, but most of the bonuses I already have 5 of in the build, particularly the +6.5% recharge - I plan to put Absolute Amazement in it more permanently when I can afford purples), and Lightning Storm is currently sporting 5part Devistation as a placeholder until I can afford Overwhelming Force either via Inf or Merits. I only just picked up the Energy Font ATO before logging out last night, so I'm eager to check out its performance in Stone Cages this evening. Maybe having it there will make me use it more and I can trade away from the KB->KD IOs and either move those slots or finish out sets or something. We'll see. 3. The single-target hold also does damage (though less than lift and about half of what propel does, at base values). Of note, the intangible power is a hard skip for most people. It may have a place in soloing builds if you just need to thin a crowd out to deal with it piecemeal, but if you're teaming up, it'll only piss people off. My grav/time is now in the mid-20s. I recently ran him through the Synapse TF and here's about how most encounters went. Aside from keeping your pbaoe debuff up, I typically dropped Time Crawl on bosses or others that might last long enough for it to matter, Distortion Field if it is off cooldown and once everything is grouped up, Crushing Field to lock them in place. Gravity Distortion Field is, at low levels, on a pretty long cooldown and needs Accuracy IOs to reliably hit anything. I saved it for very large packs that were threatening to drop our tank (in this case, a scrapper, our only melee). Otherwise I'd whittle away at the pack with everyone else using lift/propel/grav distortion. Of note, Propel's knockback actually has a small aoe (though the damage doesn't seem to), so its also useful for soft control in keeping small groups on their backs. Of note, changes in... i24 or i25? (I dunno one of them...) made it so that immobilizes will convert knockbacks to knockdowns for you, so once you've got them trapped with Crushing Field, you can propel at will to keep them tumbling without worrying about scattering them everywhere (unless Crushing Field wears off right before the power activates, which happened to me once or twice, because I wasn't renewing it frequently enough). As for team v solo - its probably better solo at low levels than a lot of other controller builds (except maybe Mind), because it actually has several direct attacks. That said, I am not in the habit of soloing with controllers if I can avoid it in general (its an MM O after all) and particularly not before they get their pet.
  4. As I have been wanting to play with Rad Melee anyway, I've constructed a Rad/Fire alt based on the build in the first thread. While I'm still leveling up, I'm already over 40 and headed on to 50. I am wondering, though, when I get there, how do I exemplar down to do these missions at 49 as the guide suggested if I am not on a team? Is it just a matter of picking a level 49 mission on the AE terminals?
  5. Hum that's interesting... I'll have to shuffle some slotting around and see where it lands. Currently I have that set over on thunderclap just because I'd be able to use it reasonably frequently without messing anything up, but given what you've said, it probably is worth moving.
  6. RE: The AoE Immob, I wasn't entirely comfortable slotting it that much, I admit. Mostly, I was pursuing +recharge set bonuses (though I'm far enough over perma-hasten that maybe I don't need quite so many). That said, I also don't really want to always be using it since it will frequently prevent knockdown from Earthquake and Freezing Rain. As I've been leveling a common tactic is to alternate groups: knockdown stuff on one, and then while that's recharging stun/immob on the next group, the aoe hold the next, then loop back as stuff comes off cooldown. That said, once I have a bunch of set bonuses in, I imagine that tactic will change.
  7. Despite people talking quite a bit about how they love their Earth/Storm controllers, I couldn't find many threads on the topic. Instead I cannibalized information from Earth/ and /Storm threads, as well as some more general stuff about controllers in general. The end result follows. Please, do tell me if there are ways it can be improved. In general, this build doesn't use purple sets, as that's currently significantly out of my budget. If it were to, I'd certainly switch out the Stone Cages set for 5-part Gravitational Anchor with the Chance of a Hold. I'd probably also trade out the Lightning Storm set for Apocalypse. KB->KD enhancements have been placed in Gale, Hurricane, Tornado, and Lightning Storm in an effort to make them more team-friendly and not scatter enemies everywhere. This should, I hope, make it easier to Hurdicane enemies back into ground-placed control effects. Character is currently level 44 and has no sets actually installed yet (except a KB->KD in Tornado, which is working wonderfully). Build also has some endurance problems in its pre-set-IO state. I'm hoping sets alleviate some of that. Any suggestions on incarnate slotting would be greatly appreciated, as I've never actually gotten a character into the incarnate system so far (I didn't have Going Rogue back in the day). 8. I set the build up on Justin to try it out. Ran a few missions - fun as hell. Made it on one of the active servers, eager to get it leveled up.
  9. So, I made a Rad/Rad thread yesterday with no replies - that won't happen here! So, I'm only level 38 on my Rad/Rad. My planned build doesn't have the values yours does - yours is better (I'm probably going to steal a lot of your slotting picks - I'm just back to the game and don't really know what sets are good or how to pick them 😛). I can say that you may want to consider taking Irradiated Ground earlier. So what it does is this: Every couple of seconds (4-5 seconds, maybe?), it creates a damage patch at your feet. The damage is nothing to write home about, and Mid's doesn't have a value for the -Def it applies. To my mind, the real benefit is giving you a passive way to get Contaminated onto enemies around you without directly hitting them. This boosts your AOE damage output when you hit them with single-target strikes and gives you more chances to get some health back with Radiation Siphon.
  10. Currently my planned build does not include Hasten - I was sort of hoping that Beta Decay would make up for it. Having not ever seriously played a tank or brute (and not having played at all for close to a decade), I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not. Additionally, there are several powers that I'm just not quite sure how to slot. Notably these include Gamma Boost, Radiation Therapy, Beta Decay, and Particle Shielding. Having read all of the other Rad/Rad threads on the forums, I do think my slotting for Ground Zero and Meltdown could also use some work. While I'd like to be able to handle the occasional toxic AE farm for influence, my goal is actually to be able to explore a lot of the end-game content that I never got around to during live - task forces, storylines, etc. Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build!
