For the kind of upscaling that I posted in the example, there doesn't need to be a change in monitor resolution. What they did is simply take the original texture files and have the AI clean them up. In terms of performance, the only difference is that the texture loading times will slightly increase, but it shouldn't even be noticeable on modern PCs.

What I'm saying is that these origin contacts can usually only be completed within a certain level range. If you click one who is beneath your level range, they are permanently stuck in your Inactive Contacts list. Also, many of them don't even have arcs, they just have random missions. As a person who doesn't like having permanently incomplete relationships in my Inactive Contacts list, I'd love to be able to dismiss some of these origin contacts, especially the ones that don't even have arcs. For those of you having a debate over what the origin contacts offer or how they connect to each other, just look at this link: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Stature_Levels
-
I only said they can't be completed beyond a certain level. For example, the level 1 origin contacts can't be completed at level 20. If you accidentally click an out-leveled origin contact, you'll have them stuck on your contact list forever.

Due to the amount of origin contacts that many players don't complete (and can't be completed beyond a certain level), it would be great if we could dismiss them from our contact lists. This would reduce a lot of clutter. Technically speaking, this could be done using the same mechanism as dismissing detectives. If you aren't sure what I mean when I say origin contacts, click this link: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Stature_Levels

I've been playing some older games lately like Morrowind and Deus Ex and have noticed that there are a lot of AI upscaling mods. These mods just take the original textures and use AI to de-pixelate them. Some of the results are pretty amazing. Here is an example: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/46221 Do any mods like this exist for CoH? It seems like it would be pretty easy for the modding community to implement and could have some pretty amazing results.

I've noticed that some of the other rogue servers have a huge amount of new costume pieces. Is there any chance that these pieces could be imported into Homecoming? I'm surprised that the devs haven't reached out to the community to design and import a lot more costume pieces, as I'm sure they aren't that hard for modders to develop.

I'm playing from Shanghai and also use Astrill VPN. I haven't noticed a improvement in latency while using the VPN, and in fact have more often noticed a decrease. If you still want to experiment, I recommend testing the Speed Test option on the Astrill VPN desktop app. USA China Direct, Taiwan Supercharged, and Japan 2 have all worked fine for me. I am currently playing on Excelsior. My ping ranges from about 280 to 500, but is usually in the low 300s. As long as it stays below ~400, the game is surprisingly playable without any hiccups (though I haven't tried PVP). I've done large group content many times without any trouble.

Giving players a LIKE or THUMBS UP for Costumes!
Phanto replied to Phanto's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't think that would be a good idea. It wouldn't add anything positive to the game. The point of having a simple option for giving likes is just to make it very easy for shy people to share tiny bits of encouragement and appreciation. -
Giving players a LIKE or THUMBS UP for Costumes!

See, I read the thing about some players gamifying it and don't think its necessarily bad. Having a bunch of likes for your costume won't actually give you any material benefit, so if someone wants to collect likes for their own personal satisfaction, I think its ok. Its not like having the most liked costume won't get you ad revenue. That said, I don't think many players will be interested in collecting as many likes as possible. In regard to badges, the amount that something like this should offer should be very few (1 to 3 I'd say). Maybe you get a badge for giving one LIKE, a badge for receiving one LIKE, and a badge for receiving 10 LIKES, and that's it. The badges would exist mostly just to introduce the mechanic. -

Does it take five seconds to do two mouse clicks? -

Yeah you totally got what I was thinking! -
Giving players a LIKE or THUMBS UP for Costumes!

What I was imagining is that you could simply right-click on the player, and a LIKE option would be among the lists of options which it already shows. -
How often do you see a cool looking costume in game? All the time right? How often do you stop just to tell a player that you like their costume? For most people, not that often. What would be really cool is if we could right click on on a player and give them a LIKE or THUMBS UP for their costume. Each time it happens, you can get a notification, and somewhere in your ID badge or Personal Info, you could see how many likes you've received. You could even give out badges for receiving or giving a certain amount of likes. What do you think?

Is any of it worth doing? Are there any actual story arcs in the non-Ouro stuff? It seems to be a lot of filler and hunt missions. Do you think there's a chance this stuff will be added to Ouro later?

Do you do the old school contacts, or do you skip them entirely? As a completionist, I feel some obligation to do them, but completing them all would be extremely time consuming. Is there any advantage to doing old school contacts instead of relying totally on Flashbacks?

This is a very petty thing, but as a perfectionist it really bugs me. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I accidentally failed one of the Safeguard Missions, and now I permanently have "Tasks Failed = 1" on my kiosk profile. I know these kiosks are old as hell and don't really matter, but why do they have to keep track of your failed missions? I'm not against failing missions, but why do they have to keep a permanent record of it?? In the next update, could you just remove that stupid "Failed Tasks" thing? It would probably take two seconds to edit it out and would be a big relief to lots of OCD people!

When we chat with the contacts, why does the font have to be so small? Could you give the option to increase the font size a little? In most conversations, the words are barely taking up any space in the menu. I like reading all the story stuff, but I have a large monitor and get tired of having to focus on the small letters all the time. I have 20/20 vision, but its still a pain after a while. This option already exists for the chat windows. Why not the contact/NPC conversations?

The P2W Vendor calls it the "Undead Slaying Axe", but in the power menu is it called the "Ghost Slaying Axe".

The Sorcery power pool has an excellent and unique color palette that can't be recreated in the Character Creator. Its a collage of purples and blues. Could you make this palette available to all powers in the Power Customization menu? You could add it as a special option along with Bright, Dark, etc. It would be so awesome to have ALL my powers with this same palette, and not just Sorcery. You could even add the Experimentation and Force of Will palettes as well.

More Ways To Fill Contact Relationship Bars?
Phanto replied to CraterLabs's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm with you on this. I just searched this topic and made a similar suggestion myself! -
Maybe I'm being OCD, but I hate having incomplete contacts in my Inactive Contacts list. It would be great for us completionists if there were a way to finish all those old contacts. I know that Ouroboros offers old missions, but the problem is that (as far as I know), Ouroboros only offers missions which award badges and/or souvenirs. Even then, (as far as I know), the updated contact relationship isn't saved on your list. A possible solution would be for Ouroboros to allow us to search by both mission and contact name. I also heard that Thunderspy allows you to unlock old contacts manually when you speak to them. Anyway, thanks for reading this!

Are all contacts available through Ouroboros? From what I understand, Ouroboros only offers missions that award badges and/or souvenirs, and even after that, you don't maintain the contact and relationship. Maybe there is some function I'm missing. I'd love to complete some of the relationships with old and inactive contacts.

West coast location!

I'm being lame by bumping this, but I'm surprised no one is interested in this!

They should bring it back as an option in the power customizations.
