Hi, I've rolled the classic AV-killer, an Ill/Rad controller named "Green Dreamer." She is out hunting Skulls and dreaming of the upcoming epic battles, and I am working on an end-game build for her. I found a build online and used it as a base to make the one below, but I don't have enough controller experience to know how great the original build was, or how it has weathered the extreme surgery I've performed on it. I seek a few experienced troller players to weigh in. I'd like to get your overall thoughts on the build, plus I have a few specific questions. Leadership - needed? I'm thinking Tactics will help the pets hit, and hitting more does more damage. Also, I'm thinking Maneuvers will help the Phantasm live (the PA and Terror don't care). But maybe they do fine without these buffs. What's your experience? Spectral Wounds - needed? On one hand, it seems insane to go without a key piece of direct damage. On the other hand, direct damage is the pets' job and SW might just draw unwanted attention. I imagine that my troller will spend almost all of her time (when not renewing buffs) layering "Hold" onto hard targets, especially an AV. Is this true? Defense - the build I found had almost no defense. The author even mentioned not worrying about it... that's what pets are for. I sniffed at this and built enough ranged defense that a small luck will take Green Dreamer to soft cap. I'm not sure that's the right thing to do. What do you think? Survivability - aside from ranged defense and the smashing/lethal resistance, every other survivability stat sucks. I suppose this is just a drawback of being a controller, but do you mititgate this lack of survivability in any way? Build regen? Work more on the defenses? Hit points? Or just try to stay out of the way? Thanks in advance for any insight you have! Hi FourSpeed, I deleted my post as, on reflection, I think it didn't follow the spirit of your guide, which is an excellent adjunct to Warlawk's thread. Sorry about that! Thanks again for your guide, best of luck to you, and look for Max Hazard, Pyrohawk, or Fuchsia Flame in the City (Excelsior) and say hi! Cheers! - Robopop P.S. I do love the "crunch" of a good Cross Punch, and have tried it out and kept it on some of my builids. So, especially thanks for that.

The behavior you describe above is accurate, I found, for toggle powers. For click powers, it appears only one can be activated per keypress, except - as you point out - if one is set to auto. https://web.archive.org/web/20120508050831/http://www.barbariankeep.com/bs/bindguide.html

Thank you, I'll dig a bit more, then. I thought I read about someone who put their whole attack chain on a macro. I'll try to find that post again.
-
If I press the button while Burn is on cooldown, I get the disappointed "woop" noise of something on cooldown. Pressing the button after Burn is recharged, Burn fires again. So the macro is not considering Healing Flames at all.

Hi, I've read a few guides and references on macros, and I think this should work for firing off two powers: /macro foo powexec_name Healing Flames$$powexec_name Burn The command creates the macro button in my tray, but when I click the button, only the Burn fires. I have tried putting quotations in a variety of places, but they either did not work or caused the macro to error. I thought the spaces in "Healing Flames" might be an issue, but "/macro foo powexecname Healing Flames" works fine. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks.

I don't have Burn on auto, and currently it's slotted with Superior Avalanche (which has a proc that eventually knocks mobs back). Maybe just fixing that improves my clears. But I think the perma-haste and close to perma-Momentum is going to help, too.

Well put, and I understand better now. I'm with you, looking for speed. I currently clear that map in like 20 minutes, when it should take 5. I'm definitely doing something wrong. That's why I'm back at the drawing board. 🙂 Thank you for the advice.

Wow, Frostweaver. I'm like... jeez... forget making my own build... just copy yours. I never thought of using Mocking Beratement like that. You perma-hastened this... are the -recharge procs overkill? And did you slot up Healing Flames for the recharge? In which case, I might slot down in my version, since hasten still perma'ed afterward. Also, I'll pose you my same question about Incarnates powers... this requires the Agility to support the END usage? Great build!

Hi, TheSpiritFox, I'm not sure the OP is still engaged, but I sure appreciated your feedback on his/her build. The reason I ran across this older thread was that I am tweaking my own TW/Fire farmer, and looking for some inspiration. I recently respecced my farmer. My first build did okay at +2/x8, but at +4/x8 it suffered a slow HP drain and required a fair bit of attention to the END bar. My respec took care of all that with a bunch of regen and +END; currently I can go AFK on +4/x8 without fear, and smash away to my heart's content without worrying I'll run out of steam. However, that meant five-slotting Health and three-slotting stamina... seems a little strange. Plus, I put Superior Avalanche in Burn, which causes enemies to get knocked back, which sucks. So... time for another respec. I agree with your comments on the OP's build. I especially like your idea of taking fireball, and I'm going to incorporate that into my next respec. I have a few questions. Your build looks like it could run low on END, possibly HP, like my first build did... you're assuming on taking some specific Incarnate powers that offset these issues? I don't have any Incarnates, and I don't really understand them... perhaps I need to for a real farmer. Were the OP's Incarnate choices workable? Maybe I should hold off my respec until I get those incarnates. Also... do you think Hasten works here? I'm wondering if the animations on TW neutralize Hasten's advantages... you can only go so fast. And Fiery Embrace's description technically says it helps your other powers... does it not? Thanks, I appreciate the thought you put into this, and hope for more.

Hi, I'm hoping for feedback on my SR/Rad tanker respec build. I've been very happy with Miss Amazing's progress through 50, achieved yesterday, except for her ST damage. This respec build keeps her current soft-capped defenses, close to her current RES levels, and her same regen. Additionally, I took Assault and prioritized damage set bonuses, resulting in +45% damage (better than her current +9%). Also, I want to up my notoriety a bit. I play +1/x6 mostly, but would like to go higher, and so took both Tactics and Focused Accuracy to be able to hit higher level enemies. Lastly, so many toggles... I added a lot of END recharge. I have three "chance for +END" procs, plus 3-slot Stamina and 2-slot Physical Perfection. I'm really wondering if I'm wasting my time getting so much +DAM? I think I leave a bunch of RES on the table, and maybe I'm better off just combining inspirations into reds and getting damage that way. Also, I'm not sure I can support so many toggles; maybe I should choose just one between Tactics and Focused Accuracy? Lastly, I know nothing about Incarnate slots or powers (level 50 yesterday, remember), so maybe those influence my lower level choices? I'd love to hear your ideas. Thanks in advance!
