Says who? You? Do you and the other 10 posters here speak for every single City of heroes player past and present? Hardcore actually does do well on other MMO's, as stated above its currently dominating Twitch. So, like i said, market research indicates there is a fanbase behind it. Now, its still up to Homecoming if they want to look into that fanbase and see if CoH would be a fit. A handful of players on the forums saying they don't like Hardcore is not "market research proving no one would like it"
-
If they won't, that's just the answer to the suggestion! but it would have to come from Homecoming not players. Nobody plays there because HC has the population and official title. Its playerbase is likely not a good reflection on how well a feature would do For example; They have expanded color options for costumes. Does their low player count also mean players here wouldn't enjoy expanded color choices? absolutely not. Now, granted that's an extreme comparison, It's just to show their playerbase is small all the time, not just because of any feature 😛
-
They aren't no, but your average CoH player tends to be a bit older and likely /literally/ does not watch twitch and likely wouldn't know Hardcore WoW is dominating it atm.
-
So thunderspy's smaller dev team can make a HC server, but Homecoming's larger dev team... cant? 😕 Homecoming is capable of doing their own market research to see what additions could bring new eyes if that was their intention. Players suggesting things, like a common feature Hardcore mode, does not require such effort.

the old people who haunt this forum don't understand Hardcore MMO play is pretty much everywhere and is dominating twitch. It's a reasonable request given its popularity. I wouldn't do it personally, because Coh is ass balance wise, but i also don't give a shit if others want to enjoy something. Given we have 4 low pop servers, i don't think adding a 5th low pop server is gonna change much. You can do it yourself, but i understand the benefit and talking points for it being hard-coded and an official option from every other MMO who had this discussion already. I'll throw some ideas at you since everyone else is being a stick in the mud, How would you handle character transferring? Would you want that disabled entirely or enabled for transferring off of a hardcore server? Honestly, if they did do it they could make a badge for hitting 50 on the server and then allow you to transfer off once you've hit 50. That could be cool. Similarly would this server just not have an auction house? I'd think it wouldn't right? Most other MMOs disable that on HC servers. Would probably also need the character unable to accept anything from the email system.

They are still leveled yes, WoW was just an example on how to rank enemies as more difficult despite being the same level at max. I dunno bout this "recoded" stuff exactly, but it would be too much work for no benefit. Games that use world scaling, like ESO, have public quests in the open world and events that are worth keeping the scaling for, CoH has very limited use of that in the invasions and holiday events and crotoa monster fight, which already use scaling. They /could/ change it, but it would be a lot of work for no real reason. Sorry OP'
-
This is world scaling, the way it works in MMO's with it is older enemies scale low, white, while higher enemies would still scale as higher, orange / purple etc. At max level, everything would be bare minimum 50 while still being able to be 54. they would just never be lower. This applies all the way down as you're leveling. It is usually noted when its a more difficult enemy, in WoW they use "elites" and "rares" as ranks of enemies for example. Not saying Coh should, but if it did, we already have blueprints to follow on how to do it properly as other MMO's make use of this already. Edit: Might as well clarify my own thoughts on this suggestion. I think it'd be a waste of dev time for very little benefit to the player base. I personally like world scaling, makes it feel more alive when activities don't become outdated, but coh just wouldn't benefit much by converting to this system.

Sorry but im gonna have to say no. No more concessions or trying to make people who aren't even going to use it happy. If you like knockback cool, go enjoy your knockback. I'm only interested in improving the experience for those who don't without dumb restrictions or concessions. Be it new sets that aren't gimped by a unique flag (unless its a global) just because they're KB>KD + Something else, Null flag, a START option, or even just making knockback better. IDC but this whole nitpicking and trying to limit options just because you like knockback is cringe and I'm done with it and anyone who suggests it Edit: you're not really a huge offender on my rant smalljoy, but my point still remains. No nerfing, no nonsense. Just give us better ways to not have KB.
-
This is pretty confusing to read, so it's melee AND 50's? Also, it's anecdotal and an assumption you're making based on personal experience. It doesn't make it a point of fact, seeing as I'm a blaster primarily and my issue is when knockback is used to knock things out of my patches, aoes, and especially my nuke. So you're wrong, again. It's insulting because you're trying to paint people in a specific image to discredit their complaints. I have said multiple times It's not about going fast, It's about a CC that is disruptive inherently unless you learn to use it, and far more players don't learn than do. Hence disruptive. So yes, I find it insulting, which as we've established is my opinion. You're not wrong, and i've said it in previous posts. This issue is very small-scale. It's not like every other team is being ruined, but an issue doesn't need to be end of the world level thread to be discussed. Yes it is an opinion, which you're about to figure out people can have differing opinions. Yep it is an opinion, that's how conversations like these happen. Nowhere do we say it's a fact that KB sucks and should be removed. It's why the suggestion tries specifically to ensure Knock back doesn't change for those who want it. Another back-handed insult, just to prove you're a hypocrite and another assumption that i am having these issues because i do not know how to use it. I do, i just don't like it. I'm glad you don't have a problem with knockback and enjoy it, which is why I'd like a solution that lets you keep it. As opposed to you who would rather everyone be forced to use it. Projection. Yes, you like to hide behind back-handed insults and then claim you're being attacked when someone doesn't like it. You're free to disagree with me, you're not free to be insulting and try to pretend people are trying to get rid of knockback when nobody is. They can yes, but you can't lie about other people and expect them not to reply. The fix is not good enough to many people. You are once again trying to say your opinion is better and it is a "waste of dev time" to go against it. I'm going to let you talk to you. There is no reason for us to keep going back and forth. I don't like you, we disagree, and i think you didn't read the thread, freaked out and knee-jerk reacted thinking people wanted to remove KB and now you're just defensive.
-
I didn't see him say he didn't insult anyone, just that he was leaving because they gave him a warning for it. He banned the homecoming forums from him.
-
"ask for sets" "no not globals" "not stats either, or it has to be unique"
-
I'd take more sets that offer it, but i'd like to see it in more damage based sets. It's not as ideal as a global or a null option for me, but i'd still take it.
-
That did happen, the ask was for a set that was global kb > kd and wouldn't you know it, pushback and no's all around.
-
Rudra, despite their own personal belief, does not speak on behalf of homecoming. The dev didn't say it cannot be done they basically said they'd rather improve in it other ways (5 years ago) They also used the bullying excuse, which I heavily disagree with as an angle.
-
This is literally what i mean by forum robot bullshit. Same old strawman, belittling replies just because they want to say no. It is correct though, there is no reason for this to continue.
-
No, this is a belittling attempt to make it look like a person is saying "oh wow i can't believe theres knockback!" No i'm saying KB sucks, dealing with it sucks, its a bad CC and i don't even think it should be a thing. However. Given that people enjoy it, removing it is not really an option. So you work to find a solution that works for everyone, now we've been over that this is a no go from the start given the 2nd post answered the suggestion already. So all of this is a big what if world pointless conversation. I take issue with there being a set that requires you to spend slots to counter-act a poorly designed form of CC if you don't want to deal with it. I think it could be better. But this is exactly my problem, this idea wouldn't hurt you or anyone else who likes KB but you're trying to find every excuse, backhanded insult and way to belittle someone you possibly can instead of DARING to let anyone else do something different from what you enjoy. You contribute actually fucking nothing to a conversation other than a no and a backhanded insult and then you get pissy if someone calls you out on it. I'm also completely uninterested in back and forthing with the lot of you, you just keep swapping out which forum robot says the same boring bullshit as the last one.
-
You know what? You're right, I think i can explain why i reacted negatively to your comment without calling you a hurtful name. You can safely ignore my previous reply i hid it myself. That's literally the suggestion. This is an insult, it's a baseless assumption that you're making to discredit people commenting for it, and insulting the poster who quite literally was trying to keep your desired playstyle in tact. This has been said repeatedly, this is not good enough. It feels like a punishment for just trying to play in a way that isn't viewed as disruptive to myself and others. You are literally trying to force people to adhere to your playstyle by shooting down an idea that would allow for you and the people who don't like KB to exist at the same time. Your alternative is to kick people from teams for not adhearing to your desired playstyle, and putting people on ignore in a small community and possibly exclude them from league teams you may run, holiday teams you may run or GM kills simply for their desired playstyle. To that i say, absolutely not. Calling people complainers is the same as saying someone is crying, maybe you should take your own advice and leave personal insults out of your comments if you don't want push back. (haha push back, get it?)
-
All this crying and you didn't even read the suggestion. It literally leaves knock back as is for people who like it

Arena - PvP as an in game character
Super Atom replied to Zappalina's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
DCUO does it, and it was actually pretty fun. Far easier to balance since it was only a handful of powers per select-able characters. I think it was called Legends PVP? Could be a fun gimmick for arena to get people to try it out. no stakes entry, mostly just a fun beat em up. -
Gee if ONLY homecoming could figure out how to get someone to do work for free. What's the word for that again? Galaxy city tutorial

I've been here since closed beta, I'm aware of the cycles of life this game has gone through. The difference between a controller using their AoE immobilize poorly and knockback, one is easily fixed while the other is a lot harder to control where the enemies are gonna go, and their entire powerset isn't AOE immobilize oriented. It's not even remotely comparable in terms of difficulty, opportunity cost, instructions on how to fix, or personal skill needed to not fuck up. You're talking about a single ability, whos player error is amazingly easy to self-learn and fix vs an entire power set that the only solution to fix easily is to waste a ton of slots. We can be cheeky and boil it down to just the aoe knockbacks being a problem, in which you still have 2 aoe and 1 cone powers that can fuck the team flow up. You don't often hear the groans about controllers or dominators ruining team flow, you hear about knockback frequently. The evidence is literally in the number of threads created for control vs knockback. quick edit; i also feel like i need to reiterate, this is a small-scale problem. It's well and truly not as deep as it sounds when you talk about it. Knockback is annoying and the fix is a punishment other sets don't have to deal with, but it's very very limited in scope. Teams aren't being ruined every 5 seconds by a knockbacker.
