  1. Leaked before embargo earlier, official version now up: New Daredevil. Looks like they're doing the Mayor Fisk storyline. (Maybe a little on the nose right now.) Also, I sometimes like and sometimes loathe when writers/directors pay tribute to their favourite flicks. But giving Charlie and Vince the diner scene from Heat to play with is a good use of their time. Also Jon Bernthal back as Punisher. Ironheart: suggests RiRi may not be a cut-and-dried Hero, more of a Rogue. Could be standard, could be a surprise. Might skip. Friendly Neighbourhood Spiderman: looks like they're taking the Miles Morales style from the games and Spiderverse, but with Peter's story - and the What If Spidey Hudson Thames voicing. Charlie Cox will guest as Daredevil. What If Season 3: last part of these adventures, sadly, with a cowboy Shang-Chi and mecha Cap: and already also announced, Bucky and Red on a road trip, and Agatha going to the musicals. Because the series wasn't camp enough. Marvel Zombies: the What If ep was well-received, so it gets a season order. Should be fun. Eyes Of Wakanda: the origin stories for a nation. Also for an artist: this is the brainchild of one of Marvel's storyboarding crew, ran it past Ryan Coogler, and they let him run with it. Let's hope it's good. Wonder Man: MCU's sending itself up (again) with this one, with Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen) auditioning for the role. He then gets teamed up with a superhero storyline consultant, one Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley back again), and Ed Harris as his long-suffering agent. Oh, and Demetrius Grosse as Simon's brother Eric, aka The Grim Reaper. I get MCU Get Shorty vibes from this, and that's a good thing. Hope I'm right. Plus the D+ release of DP&W. Definitely watching What If, might give DD a go if it’s not full-on DARKNESSJUSTICEOPARENTS grimdark, and will give WM a shot. Everything else… we’ll see.
  2. They don’t normally make flashy EPKs for dead shows either. My info may be wrong… or just premature.
  3. Fun thing about this series I’ve just been reminded about via an interview with Jac Schaeffer: …almost all the FX in this series are practical. (Partly because it’s cheaper than CGI, especially with digital artists in so much demand for movies. Mainly because it looks better on camera unless you’re prepared to spend A LOT, and you never get the same actor reactions from tennis balls on sticks.) That includes… 😨
  4. So, after Aziraphale and Crowley were left on a cliffhanger and breaking up with each other... ...unfortunately, so was the production team. For reasons. I'm not going to rehash the news here. It's an easy Google. I will say, on a personal level, that I've never before been through that unique kind of heartbreak when you find out your heroes are total POS. The Great John Scalzi has much to say on the subject, much of it as NSFW as I'd like to post here, and I'm pretty sure he's not done anything perverted*. The upshot is that we do not get Season 3. Instead, we get a "Season 2.5" feature-length movie, co-written by PTerry's faithful sidekick Rob Wilkins and some hired guns, and run by BBC Head Of Comedy Josh Cole. NG will not be credited, and anything he wrote for the show will go through script surgery first. In related news: Sandman S2 is effectively dead at Netflix. Which I'm okay with, since they got through most of the good bits in S1. The much-delayed Anansi Boys adap at Amazon is in Dev Hell, and may wind up being Batgirl'd out of existence. I'm mildly gutted about that, since it would have suited Delroy Lindo to a tee. Dead Boy Detectives cancelled, but it was twee even for my tastes, and on Netflix so probably doomed anyway. Graveyard Book adap at Disney is dead. Deader. Oddly appropriate. *Except to burritos. If you're reading this, Scalzi, your crimes against God and culinary science WILL BE JUDGED.
  5. Emily/DW, trying out some new fits for the Road... (PlaygroundAI / 2.5 / Realistic Portraits) (MS Designer) (MS Designer) (MS Designer) (MS Designer - I didn't ask for Chibi Me, but I like it 💜)
  6. I had a crack with it, as I liked the games and am The Biggest Hayley Atwell Stan Going. Erm... not to be a naysayer, but they've nerfed Lara's force of personality quite heavily: and after the cold-open adventure, Ep1 is very hard going. I might go back to it, but this is not great or exciting stuff so far.
  7. Funny you should say that, because Episode 7 first throws narrative causality out the window... ...then uses it to wind backwards through everything and make it make sense. And I think Aubrey's a little more subdued than usual - other than a fabulous witch cackle - because of who she's playing. This was spoilered a while back if you're Very Online, and finally gets the reveal it should have had in this episode. The performance makes sense. The calm. The romance. The threat. The stillness. The sudden violence. BTW, excuse me for any thaumaturgenerdery... It was not a spoiler for Joe Locke & co to say this was their favourite episode, because it's an absolutely bravura writing and performance. Give that lady all her flowers. Next week is the double-drop finale, just in time for Halloween. I for one cannot wait. Because even if my Big Theory proves correct - and the midseason trailer drop also fits - I still don't know where this Road ends, and I love that.
  8. Echo & The Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
  9. More of Stuff By Mark's musical comics... and yes, these are very my aesthetic. Plus one more. Thangy'allvermuch.
  10. It's been... a ride for Mike Angarano these last ten years or so. Not quite an Adrien Brody-level run, as he's shown up in Oppenheimer and a couple of other decent things too. And that mad Kevin Costner multipart Western thing, although he's already died with somebody else's boots on...🤠
  11. Wastin’ away again in Armenelos Searchin’ for my… lost island resort Some people claim that there’s an elf queen to blame But I know It’s all Sauron’s fault (XKCD 2994)
  12. Co-workers. Can’t live with ‘em… …can’t have them extradited.
  13. What. …some days I wonder how a movie got made, and what drugs may have been involved in the creative process. I’m not sure I want to know, definitely don’t want to try them. But I’m kinda glad there’s still room for out-and-out weird in Whollyodd.
  14. Been having a lot of fun with my new villainess Angela Heartless, especially doing all the costumes. (Just missing a theme song - although with the Supernatural events on a lot at the moment, I seem to have intro music anyway.) Some quick questions: As I'm levelling up, what powers and combos should I prioritise? Any slotting tips? Good ways to build a little bit of +DEF in? /Soul seems the best Patron to take thematically... am I going to have a rough time with Ghost Widow?
  15. Episode 6, and time for a rewind. If it's every theatre kids' dream to work with Patti LuPone, every movie nerd wants to pull a Rashomon. But here, it works.
  16. Jools Holland & Dr. John: Return Of The Boogie Woogie Twins
  17. Okay… so that was... *blink* D+ shows have this habit of throwing the Big Damn Twist in Episode 4 or 5. It did not disappoint. In fact, the whole structure of the show so far might have been to lull you into a false sense of security. (If you like Evil Dead movies and the Evil Overlord List too, that helps.) Here we go...
  18. Also... Eminem would kill it as a Viking. Thing I found out this week: Vikings, Scots and many other Northern Europeans engaged in flyting - duels of insults, often as poetry, sometimes with heavy drum backing, judged by the crowd. Sometimes as a pre-battle warmup, sometimes as a form of combat on its own. Viking Rap Battles. It was a thing.
  19. Herb Alpert - Puttin' On The Ritz ...see also... Gene Wilder & Peter Boyle - Puttin' On The Ritz
  20. XTC - Sgt. Rock (Is Going To Help Me)
  21. It's a neat little tool... though being someone who works in this space, it's worryingly good. Previously, when we've been looking for scammy auto-generated audio, it's been garbage, music clips, static, or recycled clips from other shows, all of which are relatively easy to detect. Having tried it on a couple of colleagues, this is... not easy, unless you know about the topic at hand. Even then, if the machine learning bit had more material to work with than a single source, it might be able to create a better summarisation to work from.
  22. So say you were in the market for something to get you from A to B to Crime scene (or away from one). What real-world vehicles would measure up? I ask because I may have to start saving for something. And yes, it comes in black. (Though I might ask them to throw in a little purple metalflake, just for good measure.) This is the forthcoming HiperCar. No, this was not posted April 1st. Ariel are a British marque known for subcompact toys like the Atom (which I've had a lot of fun with on a track day) and its chunky off-road cousin the Nomad, plus a long history with race-performance motorbikes. So I can fully believe this is the kind of thing they'd come up with while drunk, and and then a whole bunch of people just go "ahahahahathatsfunnyohandYESPLEASE". It's their first experimental EV, but that jet outlet on the back isn't an Adam West tribute. It really is a Cosworth turbine - used to recharge the batteries, so you never have to worry about range. (Or anyone parking behind you.) Assuming my PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS predict tonight's lottery accurately, I'm reserving one. Like, the second the cheque hits my bank account. So - money no issue - what would be your ride of choice?
