Please explain why you're using "mm" to denote millions?

    It's either "10mil"

    or "10kk" with k standing for a thousand. So 1kk = 1 thousand/thousand

The "mm" makes you texts just frustrating to read.

If that is the most frustrating thing about reading my materials, I'm going to count that as a win!

To answer your question, I use that because in my personal and professional background, that is what I have used and continue to use.  I realize that the abbreviation for 1,000,000 does often differ from country to country (and even how that number is written).  Now you also know that there are different conventions in other parts of the world and/or business practices.  Since I know I am the one writing this, and I don't know who is going to be reading it or what their conventions are, I'm going to work with my conventions, especially since they are generally pretty easily understood by my audience.

  2. At this point, the character I'm playing the most at 50 is Stone Hands McGee, stone/rad/soul scrapper.  I'm currently (slowly) taking him through all Made content in Ouro at +4/x8 using only passive incarnates.  Not immortal by any stretch, but probably my tightest build in terms of managing offense and defense/other mitigation.

Stone -- lots of high damage, lots of AoE knockdown (with a few FF +recharge I don't need Speed as a power pool).

Radiation -- extra AoE, lots of debuff, two heals, and an "ok" oh shit button in Meltdown

Leaping (Combat jumping); Fighting (Kick, Tough, Weave); Experimentation (Experimental Injection, Speed of Sound, Adrenal Boost)

Soul -- always feels like a cop-out, but Moonbeam and Shadow Meld are really nice in this build.

Which ones keep you all excited/playing, without feeling that it's just a lesser version of another one of your characters?

For me, it's scrappers for exactly the opposite reason of OP.  I like melee, but brutes (kinda) and tankers are too overpowered for my tastes.  For some reason I have 72 scrappers at this point (22 at 50) and I'd be hard pressed to find enough time in the rest of my tenure here to play them all!

  4. For the most part, this is available through the current system.  You want a Lotg +recharge?  You can buy one on the /AH for a handful of million inf.  Or you can spend 100 merits on a recipe, buy the salvage at seeded levels, craft it, maybe spend a catalyst to attune it.  It's available, but now you are just negotiating for a better price than whatever the kind-hearted marketer has decided to provide your supply today!

  5. I'm certainly not going to gatekeep, but I always found it a bit distracting from immersion that there are just so bloody many incarnate characters.  "Fartknocker27 defeats Hamidon!"

Personally (and I am NOT suggesting this!) I'd feel better if you could only have a small number of incarnates on any given account, like 2 or something, and you had to choose to "demote" one of your all powerful characters to promote another.  But instead I'm going to get Fartknocker28 up and running.

  7. EDIT:  (29 February 2024).  The "official" giveaway is over, but I will continue to monitor my in-game emails and I will continue to give inf away.  The main difference now is that I will do it if and when I'm able to get to it, and that is going to be significantly slower than it has happened in the past, or even at all.)

EDIT:  (22 January 2024).  I am officially giving notice that this giveaway as it stands will cease February 29, 2024.  Details in a later post on this thread.

I have decided to give away a portion of my inf for my own inscrutable reasons.  Here's how it works:

    1.  You send me an in-game email to @Yomo.

    2.  I send you an in-game email with 100mm inf.

EDIT:  Here is how you send an in-game email.  If your Chat window is not open, press "C" to open it.  Across the top you will see captions that start with "Team", "League", etc.  Click on the caption that says "Email".  The window that now opens has two captions "Inbox" and "Character Items".  Click on Inbox and hit the New button.  For To: input "@Yomo" with no quotation marks.  Write something, anything, in the subject line and in the main text box.  Hit send.

EDIT:  Please do not send an in-game email to @Yomo Kimyata.  There is a difference between forum handles and in-game handles!  I do also have an account with that email, but I rarely log onto it.

    FAQ:

    Q:  Whut?

    A:  Yup.

    Q:  Why?

    A:  My own inscrutable reasons.

    Q:  Can I have more?

A:  Nope, and only one request per global name.

    Q:  Can I have less?

A:  Nope, I will not give you one sou less than 100mm.

Q:  What if I have more than one account?

A:  Do as you will.  Make a hundred accounts!  Only one gift per global.

Q:  How long will this last?

A:  Until:  1.  I run out of disposable inf; 2.  I get really bored with it; 3.  Someone seriously griefs me and I stop my giveaway in outrage.  I highly doubt it's going to be the first one.  I'd guess not any time soon(tm), so no rush.

[EDIT:  This is "officially" over, but will continue in an unofficial manner for as long as I will continue to play.  However, that is infrequent, and may stop completely at any time without warning, so apologies if I have left the game completely.]

    Q:  What's the turnaround?

A:  When I log in, I'll check my emails and respond.  I'm usually on at some point most days.  It will not be instant, but generally within 24-48 hours.  EDIT:  Call it a few days at this point.  If you send more than one email, I'll only respond to one of them.  I keep a database so I'll make sure you get only one gift.  But I will get to you and if I cancel the giveaway I'll say so in this thread.

[EDIT:  The "unofficial" turnaround is now:  "if and when I get to it."  I'm sorry to not be able to be more specific.]

Q:  What if I send you a tell or a message on these boards?

A:  Please don't.  I'm only going to send 100mm checks to those who send me an in-game email.  I'd rather not get drowned in tells, and it certainly won't induce me to send you inf faster.

[EDIT:  at this point, I will either ignore the tell or message on these boards, or possibly send an owlbear to your home to devour you in your sleep.  Apologies in advance.  Only in-game email.]

Q:  Can I tell my friends?

A:  Absolutely.  I'm only going to post this here on the boards, but if you want to tell your friends or SG or whoever is in Local chat, go right ahead.

[EDIT:  As long as they read this thread and understand my conditions, we are still groovy.]

Q:  What if I already capitalized on a previous giveaway?

A:  We're cool.  If you want inf, who am I to gateway?  Come on in!

    Good luck and happy hunting!

  8. I can't stand them.

The reason to do a speed run is to get something over as quickly as possible.  I'm presuming that is for the merit rewards, or whatever.  I'm not exactly a stop and smell the roses kind of entity, but this tells me that people aren't doing it because they are enjoying the experience, but because they want some sort of pixelated reward as quickly as humanly possible.

Most of the time, I don't care.  Live and let live.  If you want to play a game that you hate enough to zerg through it, um, good for you?  But when it affects others then I get worked up.  When was the last time you were able to get a slow Eden trial running?  For 8 merits because it is gameable.  I get it that "Blah blah blah I've done this thousands of times I want to do it as fast as possible" but I ask why in the world are you doing it thousands and one?  Why do you enjoy doing it at all?  The rewards are exceedingly simple to come by, so if you are suffering through a 45 minute ITF for a handful of merits and want to bitch about how your time is better spent, maybe you should spend it there?  I'll send you inf.

Right now I'm using SO enhancements, but I'm getting into my early to mid 20's and I'm looking at diving into IO's. With SO's I can simply pay a fee to raise the effective level of all of my enhancements across the board. Can I do that with IO's as well, raising their effective level by paying a single fee? I know that they don't expire with level but they don't improve either and as a newer player I don't quite have the crafting system down yet. I wanted to see if I could save some money and (potentially wasted) effort by simply upgrading the IO's once I've bought them

Nope.  The benefit of common IOs is that they never get outleveled.  You can always get a certain % out of them.  The downside is that in order to upgrade to higher %, you need to go through the effort of upgrading.

I'm assuming you are talking about common IOs as opposed to invention sets?  If the latter, then we are going to get into a discussion about invention sets at a specific level v. attuned which level with you.

I planned to skip Oppressive Gloom! On other characters, I've never been satisfied with this type of aura, even if they seem to be what the cool kids are wearing. Global Accuracy is vitally important for my take on the build... The finished build will have the Kismet +ToHit piece in Cloak of Darkness! This is weighing heavily on the "play-up" period because I don't yet have those set bonuses for Accuracy, and I'm slotting for Endurance management pre-50.

    Oh, my!

I find OG to be marvelous and take it with reckless abandon whenever I can get mag 4+ disorient in total.  The endurance cost is minimal, and I find the damage inflicted is significantly less than the damage mitigated.

Reminder that the inherent accuracy of Lightning Clap is an abysmal 60%!  That's going to make my mind up to put +5 Absolute Amazement there rather than in OG.

(*1) I'm liking the Experimentation pool so far.

I've been going there the last few months as well, and I would on an Elec/Dark scrapper as well.  Generally I skip Toxic Dart and take Speed of Sound (20% Slow resist) and Experimental Injection (PM proc) as the pre-reqs.  Adrenal Booster is bueno with three Membranes, and I like Corrosive Vial with two Lysosomes and two -res debuffs.
