  1. OK Got the build completed and....I'm not digging the hover Bruting and there are some serious End issues. In game I'm using 2/3rds sitting idle with nothing but my toggles running. Radiation Therapy does helps but apparently there is only a chance for +End and it misfired a couple times in small mobs and that lead to some hasty inspiration clicking. Also, I don't think Performance Shifter is doing anything in Gamma Boost. The damage, however, is good...real good. And I might have to agree, Ground Zero is slightly OP, but needed, I think. And you were 100% right about the procs! I retooled the build a little. Switched to Super Speed and dove deeper into Energy Master to grab Physical Perfection and dipped into the Leadership pool for Maneuvers to replace the Def lost from no Hover. Overall, it's basically the same, little more Def, team buff gained from Maneuvers, little bit more End recovery, a bit slower global recharge. I switched the PS-+End out of Gamma Boost for a generic +5 End Mod and that did make the bar move in Mids. I'm pretty sure the Performance Shifter wasn't working. So how important is recharge to this build, ya think? Because that's the biggest change/loss. I'll attach it but it's basically the same as it was. Thanks!!   3. Anyone know if a knockdown proc would work in Lightning Field? I had it in originally but couldn't see that it worked when I moused over the damge to see the proc %, so I swapped it out for another.
  4. No you are right....I forgot that it has 100% end and recovery.
  5. I loaded out my attacks and capped-out Res on all but 2 types of damage and still was able to get max Def on Melee and S/L, not sure how else to do it. Besides you had a hand in my build education. I think it was you, maybe, but someone told me on my first toon when I focused on my primary attacks and didn't realize the importance of the secondary, that "you do zero DPS when you're dead." I learned a great deal from @Sovera the other day also. Seriously though, been so many people that's helped me...great community. Gonna need to come up with a third build though...a hybrid of the two. The Ageless build doesn't have Power Sink and that'll be needed to shore up endurance use or loss from Mu's and Sappers etc.... Just means losing Fold Space, I think. And I could prob just leave PS at 1 slot, that'll still net me 70ish endurance leach from just 2 baddies. Thanks!!
  6. Hi all! So I'm finally getting around to gearing my Electric Scrapper...my altoholism is in full swing 🙂 and my bank account is showing it. Any who it's all funny money so blow it I shall. I am torn between two builds. I was dying to make Teleport work for me because up til now I leaned on Fly or a Super Jump as my final build's travel power and well...I needed a change. What I am trying to decide between is the Destiny incarnate power: Ageless Core vs. Barrier Core. I like both builds, one has a bit more survivability the other has slightly less survivability but with Fold Space; which I haven't personally ever used but have witnessed, and it's a great utility in groups, in my opinion, and good fun imagining the look on the bad guys' faces when the ambush goes all sideways on them. I'm posting both...and yes Imma junior "Mids warrior" blah blah and I know these builds are not perfect BUT the only way for me to learn is ask questions and test things out. And, as my Inf is thinning out a bit, and this will probably be my last geared 50 for a few weeks, at least until I shore up my finances again, I wanna give the better one a go. So which do y'all think is better? All opinions are welcome. (yes, I just said that to people on the internet...) I want this dude to be good at solo and group. Solo: maybe +3/8 hopefully...   7. Well that information changes alot! HAHA thanks! And...yeah...I mean Relative level. I keep it set to that but always assumed +100% was needed to guarantee a hit.
  8. That's a good build. Have you thought about putting a Gaussian-Build Up in Follow Up? It doesn't look like you need the 10% recharge bonus from that loaded set.
  9. I'm beginning to wish I'd selected a different primary... Cool about the badge though. LOL Vet lvl 42 not high....yeah I mean I've seen much higher but 42 ain't nothing to sneeze at. Can't wait to see how this guy turns out. He's so much different from my SS/Inv Brute. I've gotten so twisted around on his final build! If it weren't for @Soverahelp I'd probably shelfed him after spending inf on all the wrong stuff.
  10. I like it! Quick question, cause I don't know if I got the correct build loaded. I had switched my Hybrid from Assault to Melee, but the build you just posted has Assault. Is that what you suggest, or would Melee be better for the Res boost? Sorry missed part of your post... 95% at level 3? I mean I trust you, but I don't understand that.

  13. Working on it... It would seem though that it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison though. With one swing of DA you are untouchable in melee, that's not the case with my build. So I have to chase at least soft cap there which also inherently gets me close to soft cap with S/L. If I spec into Alpha Agility Core that'll help as will Destiny Barrier. I've got my S/L resists up to 83% but everything else is still lacking. Is the whole "this is a Resist set" because there's no inherent -def resistance? Before I made adjustments, I had 54% melee def and 48% S/L def, now I'm in the low 40s and my resists have only gone up marginally, a few %. I do like what you did in Radiation Therapy. How did you setup your incarnates?

  15. I'm working on a EM/Rad build and got a couple questions. - I noticed from most builds that I could find, that no one maxes out any resistances. That a thing? - Can Particle Shield double stack? - Is it best just to 6-proc Ground Zero or put a set in it to up its accuracy? - Does /Rad rely on -Def for improved hit%? If not how can I get my %tohit up? - Meltdown looks pretty stout but the best I could do with its recharge is 121 seconds, is that worth chasing or would the slots be better utilized in other areas like Beta Decay to up the -Def%? Meltdown seems like a great OS button... - I went with Paralytic Core for the -Def but don't know if I'm being too anal about the lack of hit % or if I'd be better off with a more DPS oriented Interface. - I didn't really pick much to help with endurance, Particle Shield seems to shore that up pretty well, so I went with Ageless Radial to help with debuff resist. That sound about right? I'll attach my build. It's all hodgepodged because I'm on like the 6th rev, so I've swapped lot of stuff in/out/around. Thanks! Brute (Energy Melee - Radiation Armor)-6.mbd

    New To Dom

    Hi all! My son, technically sonS, have joined the COH community. One chose the path of a Sentinel and the other a Dominator! They are both very pleased with their choices, me...well I don't know how to help either of them, since I typically play melee and any range I get into is usually the Blaster type...ya know...the kill'em all and let God sort it out type. Any who I'm here to ask for a little help in Mids for my Dom-son. He chose Mind Control/Psionic Assault/Psionic Mastery. I put together a build for him, but I'd like some of y'all with a bit more experience in the Dominator world to help make it better, please. He wants to hover-Dom, so I focused on Range Def first, got it to 50% with incarnates, then let the other chips fall where they may. I don't know if Doms can solo high end, but I don't think that is his intent. He likes grouping and likes controlling the battlefield, that's where the power choices came in and where most of my uncertainties lie. I don't know how the mechanics work for the controlling powers, most particularly which are breakable with violence, and which are not; only one was clear about this. He's very excited to get Psionic Tornado, which I hope lives up to his expectations, it does look great on paper. Are Mass Confusion and Total Domination broken with damage? I would think they would be, seems OP if not, but also very cool if not. Personally, I can't wait to play with him all incarnate out, I love the chaos potential he could bring. I've taken him into a few AE farms now so that he can get an idea of how end game will play out with large pulls, and so that he could level stupid fast. But mostly so that he could see that if a power is breakable then it might not be worth taking unless he's rolling solo. He is sort of married to Mystic Flight, he likes the teleport and the "magic" appeal of it, as his hero has a magic origin, but he is logical and if anyone can give me a good argument for ditching that pool and going with Fly to free up another power pool to make the build better then he'd likely change his mind. I took Tactics partly for the protection, but mostly because out of what I could choose from it looked best. I wanted to get into the Fighting pool but couldn't get deep enough to get Weave, so that's why I went with Leadership. Something looks off when I toggle Ageless on. The End recovery goes off the chart, literally. I'm going to suggest he tier 4 both Ageless Core and Barrier Core depending on group. On the Dominator enhancements, are they best choice? I took them mostly because of their set bonuses but would other sets be better in those powers and if so where would y'all recommend I place them...or use them at all? I am open to any and all suggestions and any help will be greatly appreciated! Below is his build-to-be, he's only level 36 right now. Thanks!!   17. Can Phase Shift be used as a get-out-of-jail free card? Can you be mezzed and use it or be used after you run in and nuke a mob? Does it take you out of combat? I've never even looked into it, but I've got ideas now about using it, provided I understand it correctly. I like the Concealment pool. I particularly like Infiltration; it's got such a good "hunter" feel to it. Also, that build looks great! I'm going to use it. 🙂 Thanks!
  18. So, if a Brute or Scrapper focuses on melee def and a Blaster (or other ranged hero) stacks ranged then it sounds like that is better than shooting for a multitude of type defenses. I know naturally that you'll get some of all with the sets, but am I right in my thinking? Melee/Range > Fire/Psy/Cold/...etc Is it possible to get good defenses in both Range and Melee on the same toon? I retooled a Brute last night after @Snarkyreply and managed to get his melee def up to 50% and that's when it hit me... That melee/range def max sounds like a better goal.
  19. Can someone also explain Melee and Range Def, please? I understand how Def and Res work, but with Melee and Ranged, if I'm being targeted with a ranged Fire attack does both my range and fire def come into play, same for Melee?
  20. Yesterday I played behind a Tanker and so was able to jump in the fray and that was good fun but I kept getting mezzed hard. I worked in Mids for a bit with an Ele/Ele/Ele but I couldn't find a way to get decent protection. Is that just the life of a blaster? I was reading @Snarkypost about Fire/Fire and his strategy of running in stealthed, AOE nuke, and run out; that the best I can hope for? I want to sort of run and gun. I'm not married to the electric build, just already had the guy made so that's what I went with. I was originally going hover blaster with him but then I'd already taken melee powers so I figured what the heck and it was good fun. LOL...now I think about it Snark's strat is sort of run n' gun. But still how can I get the status protections up?

  23. Help me understand Defense and Resists... Does defense reduce their chance to hit me or if they're hitting me for a potential of 100 damage and I have 48% Defense then I reduce their potential damage to 52? But then in my mind that's how resistance works. I resist 85% of the 100. And is there an order in which the math takes place? Is Def calculated before or after Res? So my Def blocks 48% then I resist 85% of what's left?

  25. Ah well the 2 travel powers was because out of the pools I'd picked the pickens were slim.
