  1. You'll be surprised I think when you get him finished out with the regular armors. I've ran a fair bit of content with this one over the last few days at 54x8, and had very little problem so far at all. No deaths, only one close one when I wasnt watching end or refreshing Ageless as I should. Even holding Rom and half of Cimerora, or the big bot and friends in Market Crash,  health never dipped low enough to NEED the heals, other than just using them for the +hp buff or the damage in case of the rad heal.

I think I see a few places I can make some effective changes, including another proc in Irradiated. But I'm pretty close to having this build finished. While I was hesitant to shift from Granite, I think I'm a big fan of this change and don't see myself keeping it beyond a mule or oh shit power. Stone finally feels top tier without it.

  2. I made this toon a year or two back for granite form with Bopper's help, worked fine and had enough speed but still felt limited. I redid it with the new changes as non-granite, and by god it may be may favorite tank yet. Capped defenses to all but fire (37%), most resistances 50-80 except e/n/psi, even higher with easy ATO proc stacks. Was able to switch out agility alpha for musculature, and add in a few more procs as a result. It's like a whole new beast with the stone changes, and having more fun with it than I have in a very long time.

Here's the build, any criticism or pointers welcome. I don't have the new values in mids, and the powers don't line up so there's some defense slots missing in stone skin and perf shifter/end in crystals.

  3. My favorite melee centric dom so far has been Fire/Savage. Fire has good controls on good timers, and aoe damage toggle, and pairs well with the melee centric Savage to boot. If you haven't tried Savage on a dom yet, I highly suggest you do so. It's got good sustain, a self-heal, a couple of AOEs including Savage Leap which is the bees knees (AOE plus teleport).

  4. Thank you! I still like EMP for the buffs if nothing else, hopefully the debuff will get fixed in the upcoming patches. I think I'm sold on Degenerative as is anyways, I take reactive too often on other chars.

I didn't think about the placate, but it's a great power for PGA. I'll have to try that io.
Edit:  I have have the 5-piece of that set already in the build (not live), so easy switch for one slot.

Yep unless you'll never use the build below level 45 you want to achieve perma PA without Incarnates.  Further I'd be shooting for 58 seconds or less not 60 as it takes 2 seconds for all 3 decoys to appear (at the 0, 1 and 2 second marks).  That said perma PA while ideal is only truly 'needed' if soloing max difficulty content.

I think I'm at about 56-58 with Ageless, which should give a bit of buffer. I do not plan on exemping with this toon, so purely 45+ content and have adjusted some things for that like boosters and all.

If you take alpha agility you nerf your own proc chance. You'll want to achieve your recharge need without crippling your damage output.

Yep. Currently I have Cardiac slotted for end recovery, about 183% global recharge, and 107% in PA. My plan is to take Ageless to make up the rest, plus more end recovery for longer solo AV fights.

I did some reconfiguring and dropped Spooky, Assault, added EMP Arrow, PGA, and dropped about 6% def across the board. But enough recharge now to not need an alpha with +recharge, and three solid procced single target attacks in addition to Acid Arrow. Once I get Ageless today and run it a bit, I'll post results and the current build I'm using. But I like it quite a bit.

So I have a Plant/Poison and I am struggling with Incarnate choices. I unlocked Alpha and really don’t know what’s best…I am struggling a little with End at 50 during fights.

Cardiac is always a solid choice if you have end troubles. But it also depends on what you plan for your Destiny, if you're getting Ageless you may not need cardiac.

  8. I'm really iffy on Spectral Terror here, have been since I built it. I'll have 4 sets of pets to summon, and I think Spectral gives the least of what I want. I may eventually swap it out for EMP arrow.

Already swapped Assault for PGA and feeling a lot better about  that one.

  9. Thanks for the input folks. I'm gonna go through the builds posted and see what I can change in mine. Like finding a spot for PGA, which I definitely will miss.

I definitely wanted EMP over Flash, just want to wait until EMP works as it should.

I wouldn't worry about being a few seconds short. Perma PA isn't like perma-dom where it drops and you have to refill your domination bar. It just means you have a few seconds down time before you can resummon.

BTW, neither Flash Arrow or Oil Slick Arrow require accuracy in PVE.

Yeah, just part a consequence of the set bonuses I was going for, not actually wanting the acc.

  11. Tons of trollers and doms played, but this is my first Ill controller. I've got a tentative build, trying to decide between Ageless Core and Agility Alpha to get the rest of the recharge I need for PA. I'm sitting at 176.25% global recharge, and 103.25% in PA itself. I know Agility alpha gives ~23% when ED capped, and my calculations on Ageless Core are ~21% global over the duration. This should put me over the 200% I need either way, anyone have a preference (Agility hurts procs, Ageless is another timed click). Here's the build, any feedback or mistakes I've made are absolutely welcome.

  12. More than a few here. My favorite, now retired, was TooGhoulForSchool, a Savage/Radiation Brute. Back story was a 50s nerd who bought the Charles Atlas method to beef up. Tried to kiss his high school crush, and was pushed into a radioactive waste pond. He came back to life for his girl, and to know if he aced his science test.

  13. I run it as a proc machine, since it will fit up to 5 damage procs and 2 -res. Early on I run 1 acc, 2 -res procs, 3 damage procs, but at later levels with enough tohit and acc you can run 4 damage procs/2 -res and it's great.

    I went sonic/psi so i can have 3 cones.

Are you skipping one of the 3 sonic cones? Which one? I use them all on my defender since they can be made to work well with procs and all the -res that Sonic/TA offers.

  15. Most of my dominators tend toward melee range, I'm just not a fan of ranged ones personally. You'll definitely want a more melee oriented secondary, savage, stone, and martial are all good picks. You're going to want some defense to go with it too, so scorpion shield or ice shield for your epic is almost a must, as well as building some decent +ranged. It certainly can be done, but it's not going be a cheap or easy build, and you're still going to have to pay a lot of attention to which AOE controls are up when playing them. It can be tight to get all these things plus high +recharge for the permadom you're going to want.

  16. My go to for it has been one of the 4 piece Pet Rechg sets (gives 6.25% rechg bonus) and the damage proc from Cloud senses.

It's a solid pet, I like it well enough. But lord you'll hate the sound of it.

  17. Currently I'm finishing off my Rad/Mental/Ice blaster, and it's a ton of fun. I don't know that it's the best blapper, but its definitely a lot of fun and has plenty of close range tools to deal with most things. My only issue is that it ended up being a bit harder to softcap ranged than I thought it would be, whereas melee would have hit softcap for incarnates without trying. If only mobs would actually run in and punch blasters, as opposed to forming a circle and opening fire.

I haven't seen one. But back on live there was, Knights of the Redneck Republic. You could only join if your character was both Star Wars themed and country as hell. I can't remember all the character names, but I know my wife and I played JoeBob Skywalker and Darth Tater respectively lol.

  20. PUG Life! I love it, actively prefer pugs for the chaos and not knowing what the hell you're going to get any time you join one. I PUG pretty exclusively, which may be partly impacted by most of my RL friends having moved on from COH for now too. Embrace the chaos.

Right on. I have another friend who did it, published several stories and just got her first book picked up by HarperCollins. So I know it happens, glad to know it's more than just that one person.

Hey, a start is a start man. So be kind to yourself with this dude, small steps will help towards larger goals. I'm actually on the verge of quitting my full time job to try writing full-time, and it's scary enough. But 15+ years as an academic librarian and no room to grow has just done me in.
