  1. Thank you all for the input! It has been very edifying. I *vastly* underrated the Theft of Essence proc; it's basically a mini Consume from Fire Armor. Incredible! I also didn't even know the Kismet one existed. Not sure I'll actually need it, but it's good to know it exists. So just from observations on live versus mids, I got the sneaking suspicion that numbers vary widely as you level up (spoiler: they do). So I got on the beta/test/brainstorm server whatever you wanna call it and made the build as I posted, but with the Theft of Essence proc instead of the pure Heal enhancement. It was very illuminating, and the build should work fine for what I want to do with it. The strength difference between Attuned set IOs and +3 Set IOs was surprisingly stark, but as my purpose will be exemplaring, I have to use attuned (it also shouldn't make much difference when exemplared). I was able to pretty comfortably fight +3 minions (at level 22). I tried using mostly SOs instead, thinking that I could improve endurance efficiency to offset the loss of endurance set bonuses. That did not work *AT ALL*. Even +3 SOs were jocularly weaker than using even attuned IOs. Less overall endurance efficiency, less damage, less accuracy. --- --- --- EDIT: So I finally figured out how to exemplar down and test things out, and I'm kind of astonished at how well-balanced the exemplar system is. I took my level 22, exemplared him down to 7, and I made a new character and leveled him up to 8 (for Dark Regen) and slotted him with +3 SOs (plus Panacea and Theft procs). Playing each of them feels almost identical against similar-leveled enemies. Even though the level 8 has superior bonuses (38.3% per enhancement) and slightly better damage, the additional abilities and slots and set bonuses keep the level 22 competetive. Testing this over on Brainstorm has been incredibly eye-opening for desinging characters to be exemplared. I've tightened up the build even more (for anyone interested, I don't expect many are. XD). "Still only 3 slots in Dark Regen?!? What's wrong with you?!" It has 95% to-hit against even levels. 87.45% against +1s, 77.74% against +2s. 3 hits very nearly completely fills my HP bar. Touch of the Nictus requires level 27 to slot, and exemplaring down loses all the set bonuses. That's why I did away with Impervium Armour in Dark Embrace and Murky Cloud, too. The whole point was the endurance mangement set bonuses, and I lose those going below level 9. Dark-Dark17.mbd
  2. STO actually has this exact same problem sometimes.
  3. I got on the Brainstorm to test some things, and one of the things I wanted to test was exemplaring, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it without another player. Is it at all possible to add something to allow players to self-exemplar? I don't want to bother other people who are engrossed in their own testing.
  4. I don't really like procs, so I tend to ignore them and pick sets based on bonuses. I needed Accuracy and Healing for the ability, and I wanted the End Max set bonus. Let me take a closer look at the proc... 3.5 PPM on a 20 second CD ability is 90% proc rate, so I guess that's good. Drop the Acc/Heal for it?
  5. I had a concept for a Dark/Dark tanker I wanted to park at level 22, but after playing him a while I noticed I'd burn through my blue bar STUPID FAST. I asked in chat and it seems well-known that Dark/Dark is very end-hungry, but it gets better as you level. My question is: can it be stabilized by level 22? Enclosed is the build I was planning on, it's probably awful, try not to die of cringe. Dark-Dark22.mbd
  6. Yes, reading is very important. I actually had the exact opposite 'problem' recently. For years and years I assumed Cosmic Burst only had a chance to stun, but nope, it always applies its mag 3 stun. I guess the times I've noticed it not stunning are when I use it on bosses. I wouldn't worry too much about 400k waste influence. It's not fun to waste influence, but 400k is pretty pocket-changey once the reward merits start flowing in. You could also attend Monty Haull's game show this Saturday! Even if Excel isn't your home, you can global mail yourself the influence and access it on your home server! Not a wall of text; has plenty of line-breaks. THIS would've been a wall of text: Note the difference.
  7. Would it be possible to get an option to make it give me an alert like when someone reacts to or quotes one of my posts instead of e-mail? I really don't need more e-mail spam, but I would like some notification when threads I'm following are updated. I don't quite understand why this is not the default functionality, TBH.
  8. You are responsible for your reaction. You are responsible for your own happiness. It's true, you cannot control others, but you can control how you respond to them. If I had been in your shoes, I probably would've left after that first mission and saved myself all that frustration. If I join a team, I do so under the implicit expectation that the team will actually play like a team; when it doesn't, I no longer feel any obligation to remain. That said, if a team that plays like a team wipes all night I'll stick it out. I do find it funny your entire OP is laced with vulgar name-calling based solely on peoples' playstyles. But somehow we're supposed to take your side when you start off your post being extremely unlikable. Shed that persecution complex, friend, you'll be a *lot* happier in life. If you didn't want to discuss, you shouldn't have posted on a discussion board. Try writing in a journal next time you want to vent without any dissent.
  9. That may be your inference, that was not my implication. My implication was that you're complaining about something you had the means to avoid. Trying to excuse yourself with "but I wasn't the leader" doesn't fly with me. If I want a badge that can be screwed up (e.g. Cadaver Counter in DFB), and I don't say anything in chat; if I don't get the badge, it's my own fault.
  10. Did you, or anyone else tell him not to?
  11. Thanks everyone. That's how I thought it worked at first, but then I saw the accuracy in MIDs and was worried I needed to consider that.
  12. I wanna see that studio filled to standing-room-only this time! Tell all your friends. Only 4 contestants at a time this time seems like an expeditious change. I like it.
  13. MIDs lists an accuracy for it, but it can't be slotted with accuracy, but if you slot a set item that has accuracy, the accuracy gets boosts, so does it need accuracy or not? It doesn't list a to-hit roll in the combat log.
  14. Will you be updating this post when you do another show? I certainly don't want to miss it. Easier to check this thread every day or few than to try to catch an ad in chat.
  15. I'm curious, what kind of defender to *non*-defenders (which is why I put this here instead of the Defender sub-forum) most-like to have on the team. It would be nice to know what AT you play, too (e.g. Tankers may prefer Empaths for healing and Fortitude, but I doubt blasters would most-like Empaths, as they would die before the Empath could even react =P).
  16. My best advice: make a spreadsheet and track it yourself. The badge progress is useless since it doesn't tell you how many of the different levels you've made. Which baffles me because the Firefighter badges have two entries which each track hellions and fire defeats independently. Why invention badges didn't get the same treatment is beyond my ken.
  17. I'm not nearly so fussed about the damage as the RNG. If they actually did only have 5% (or 10.5% as RCU suggests), and hit you that reliably, that's nonsense and a prime example of why defensive Streakbreaker should be a thing.
  18. Oh, is that what he's talking about? Yeah, the enemies are all over-sized, but I'm quite accustomed to that from other MMOs. I don't really like it, but I'm well used-to-it by now. I was talking mostly about the environments and objects therein. Though doorways and ceilings tend to be a bit high because they have to accommodate the +8' giants we can make.
  19. I mostly mean real world. Like, 1' in-game, is a pretty consistent unit of measure. Yes. Cars look a little small (I think the problem is they're all a bit low-to-the-ground), forklifts look a little big, but overall, it's pretty close to real life.
  20. Yeah, I'm totally fine with that if I plan to skip contacts in the "real" world and just do everything in Ouro. All empty bars are uniform and thus more aesthetically pleasing than mostly full and few mostly-full bars. Heh.
  21. The physical dimensions are actually very, very close to accurate scale compared to most MMOs. Some stuff looks wonky, it's true. But by-and-large the scale is remarkably accurate. Also, Manticore is about 5'8".
  22. I'm not speaking for anyone but me. As tidge points out, there's other reasons to do it, and that's fine, but for me, the whole reason was to have a contact list full of filled bars, and the partly-full bars would and do irritate me no end. This is fully acknowledged and admittedly a personal problem. ::shrug:: Ouroboros lets you do the overwhelming majority of the content with actual story, right? That'll be good enough.
