Thank you very much for sharing this. I'm considering cobbling a copy together for my WP/SS tanker. Would you perhaps have any helpful suggestions for alterations to it with SS in mind?

I'm copy-pasting the TL;DR mission text into a Text-To-Speech reader and it's 10x better than reading it myself and gives me;
1. time to play the game instead of reading text, and,
2. actually know what's going on in the missions,
3. it also gives a bit of immersion because it's another voice.
I wonder if there would be an easy way to hook these things together, like a macro button or something? Does anybody have experience of this?

I think it's worth mentioning that lots of these work well in their set, so for example, if you want to Frankenslot for 12% regen, slot another numina as well as the unique.

Would Earth/Radiation controller be good? It seems that both of these sets do -Defense....
... what I'm REALLY after is something that makes it easier to hit enemies because my L50 tank has found that some AV enemies seem hard to land ... anything... on.

I put them in to try and increase the duration of the taunt, so that it'd overlap (seen it recommended on some old build guides to help Willpower tanks). Are they completely worthless?
As far as we can tell, Taunts never stack. Only the longest-duration one applies. As a Tanker, your Gauntlet or actual Taunt is almost certainly a longer duration than WP's aura, even slotted. The WP aura is marginally helpful when you're surrounded by enemies (since Gauntlet and Taunt powers only affect up to 5 at a time), but slotting it doesn't significantly improve that utility.
A lot of people seem to have the same idea as the OP tho.... now I'm confused as to who to believe.

Are full sets the way to go with Willpower?
I've been told that WP is really about regen.
Thus I was considering putting two Numina's into Fast Healing, High Pain Tolerance, Physical Perfection and Health, to rack up a whole bunch of 12% regens.

It seems like svartypops has provided at least one option of doing so in the post right above yours.
I have been using an online .pigg viewer to look for sound files, but viewing is very different from extracting and repackaging.
Just for the record, I'm not doing any repackaging, I just extract them, then alter the original and put the new file in the city of heroes/data/sounds/ogg/whatever folder.
ALSO: Teleport power sounds are as follows;
teletrans4 happens at the place you start from, so you miss the end of it because you have teleported by then.
teletrans3 happens at your location AFTER you have teleported. The whole sound triggers when you arrive.
teletrans2 ... don't know what that is, but it's not in the "Teleport" power... maybe it's a different power - could be TP team or LRT or Recall Friend.

I can't find any incarnates yet. I guess people are still levelling multiple toons instead.

If you want to find the Ogg files yourself, you can use this python program to extract the pigg files: https://github.com/ovekaaven/cohtools
You will need Python.
Enter the pigg folder with
c:
cd games\city of heroes\piggs
(put the readpigg file in this folder, for now).
Run it like this;
c:\python\python.exe readpigg.py sound.pigg
That will create a new folder in your pigg folder with the original file structure in it.
Replace "sound.pigg" with whatever file you want to extract.
(obviously, the location of your programs may be different than the above).

I've been reading about how useless WP tankers are and wanted extra feedback. My L50 WP/SS feels pretty good, but I don't want to commit to incarnate gubbins if I know there's a better way and no amount of fancy doodads is going to get me there.
So I need to know whether to cut loose now and rebuild this toon with better powersets or commit to it and own this tiny taunt aura business. Any support or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for the guide. Personally, I'd hold off on IOs until L25 and only use L25 enhancements all the way to 50, but I'm a skinflint.

Yeah, but you do have to get there with one character first. :)
I can't emphasise enough how amazing it is to have a L50 to bankroll all my other toons enhancements.
I got there by making a Fire/Kin Controller (always popular) and teaming my way to 50. Don't even CONSIDER levelling alone.
Once you are 50, it rains inf. It costs less than 2m inf to fully trick out a L22 IO build with L25 IO enhancements. Those will be good enough until you get high level.

To complicate matters, I think Dual Blades no-redraw is broken. When I try to use Typhoon's Edge animation it doesn't show up UNLESS the previous move was also power from Dual Blades. So a prestige power or no power first shows no animation.

This guide, while in good faith, is not entirely accurate. While any powerset choice, when properly built, can be viable, there are some that are objectively bad without optimization.
When a new player asks "What is a good powerset", you should tell them what is a good powerset. They are asking for specifics. Saying "play what you want" is not an answer to that question, and is more confusing than helpful to people that ask that kind of question.
Give people advice on something easy and low-maintenance but still powerful -- like, say, a SS/WP brute if they want to punch things or a Beam/EA sentinel if they want to shoot things -- and then when they have a grasp of the mechanics, then they can try their hand the more difficult and less optimal powersets.
Don't trick newbies into making a Trick Arrow defender because they wanted to be Green Arrow and you told them to 'play what they want'. Trick Arrow is decent in the hands of a veteran player who knows how to optimize their build and afford set IOs, but nobody deserves to suffer through Trick Arrow as their first character.

I haven't taken it this go around but I remember Leaping's Spring Attack being really fun. Come crashing down into a group of enemies from above is a good feeling.
It's also a useful power on a stone tank/brute. It's teleport.. WITH DAMAGE! :)
Can confirm, Spring Attack is a fun AoE that does good knockdown. Great for tanks, it compliments Foot Stomp when it's on cooldown. The only thing I don't like about it is that often I end up miles away by accident because it's not PBAoE. :D
