  1. I highly recommend an MMO mouse or at least one with some extra buttons because it made playing my PB, and CoH in general, much easier. My key binds are all done on the mouse.

This is my current set up with my Steel Series Aerox 9

    G - bright nova

    V - white dwarf

    X - light form

    Left Shift - down flight

    F - energy flight

    T - white dwarf step

    B - combat flight

Then I combine multiple binds to the same key:

1 - "powexecname photon seekers$$powexecname bright nova bolt$$powexecname white dwarf strike"

    2 - glinting eye/dwarf smite

    3 - dawn strike/nova blast/dwarf flare

    4 - essence boost/nova scatter/dwarf antagonize

    5 - reform essence/dwarf sublimation

    6 - glowing touch/nova detonation

    7 - quantum flight

    Shift+7 - quantum acceleration

    8 - conserve energy

    9 - teleport target

    0 - inner light

  2. I love the choice as I can now take Ageless instead of Rebirth and take on tougher 50+ mobs like Carnies, Arachnos, and Malta. I added more recharge to Inner Light so it stacks for longer too because it recharges in 23s so I always have at least a 126% damage boost in nova going up to over 200% when they stack and that's before using Hybrid's damage buff.

I'll add which incarnates I have as well:

    Alpha - Musculature Core Paragon

    Destiny - Ageless Radial Epiphany

Interface - Reactive Total Core Conversion

Lore - Polar Lights Radial Superior Ally

Judgement - Ion Core Final Judgement

    Hybrid - Assault Core Embodiment

  4. Hey guys! I've been toying around with the build for a while and I think I've found a build I really like. The goal for this build was to gain more Psi res without changing much of my previous build. I wanted a lot of recharge and as much psi res as I could get. In human form I have 77% psi res, it's 72.25% in forms because of the Kheldian's Grace Form Empowerment IO. My recharge from sets is 142.5% (212.5 with Hasten).

The main differences in this build is the removal of human form melee attacks like Radiant Strike and Incandescent Strike to focus damage purely with Nova and nukes. I have always enjoyed taking Glowing Touch because I love being somewhat supportive and it does come in handy to help teammates. I was also able to pick up Teleport Target, which again leans more towards helping your team. I'm not 100% set on when to take which powers because if you exemp down a lot you might want something sooner.

Let me know what you think! If you'd like to team with my I'm always happy to meet other Khelds!Orivon - Peacebringer (Luminous Blast).mxd

For a tri-form PB, what would be considered must have powers and which ones can be skipped or are limited in their usefulness?

Light Form is kind of obvious because it's your main defensive power. I took Reform Essence and Essence Boost to help keep your health up and dealing with LF crashing at less than ideal moments. Also helps bump up max HP.  Inner light is a must because it helps with ToHit and Damage and it's effects are stronger for a couple seconds and then reduce after but you can get your recharge time low enough to have the remaining Inner Light stack with your new one for some extra buffs. At this point it can be somewhat up to play style. I chose a lot of the shields because I was slotting them with +Psi Res IOs (my psi res is up to 77%) and stealth power pool for some extra Luck of the Gambler 7.5% recharge IOs. My build has changed over the years and just updated it recently to remove all human attacks except for Glinting Eye (usable in Nova form), Photon Seekers, and Dawn Strike. I primarily use Nova and Dwarf attack powers.

As far a skipping: Pulsar is up near the top for me and the animation time is kinda long. Which is also why I have respec'd out of Incandescent Strike. It's a really fun power to watch but it's a longgg activation. Since you're talking tri-form you can skip all the human attacks so you don't have to slot them and you'll have a better version in Nova form.  You could skip Group Energy Flight because these days it's easy for people to get around and not really necessary.

Lastly, I take Glowing Touch because I like to heal (also slotting Panacea for set bonus) and it does come in handy in a pinch but this may not be someone else's play style so you could potentially skip this too.

    Hope this helps!

Anyone else remember the "No Khelds Allowed" while teaming? The pleading of "Please kill the Voids first". I really need to resurrect my WS/PB alts, just to see how they function in a i27/Incarante world now.

YES! ALl of that and we used to have targeting macros to quickly find those in a group to make sure we addressed them first.

  7. The other ATs don't need to get anything. HEATs are supposed to be "epic" archetypes. I was just suggesting the teams ones they may be lacking (WS team tp) and those that are often not taken (PB group fly). They already have less powers to worry about which is almost a blessing because our Khelds often have several powers fighting over enhancement slots (and my idea is to give them more powers? albeit for free). I'm trying not to suggest too much as I prefer how the game was at closing and I don't know the limitations of the coding etc... one could even go as far as to suggest all the travel related powers in the khelds sets could be inherent.

From a standpoint of the ATs, the “mirrors” aren’t always of the same function and/or exact tier. Twilight Shield is obviously the mirror of Quantum Shield, they just happen to be 1 tier different. What’s the PB mirror to Starless Step?  Arguably it’s Proton scatter, even though they have nothing in common except tier.

Anyway, more to the point, right now each AT has 2 inherent and 2 picks in their respective “travel pools”. Give each the team version as an inherent, and now PB’s can have all the utility with 1 pick, while WS’s still need 2.

And, what are the other ATs going to get in exchange for the HEATs now having FOUR INHERENTS compared to their one. Remember, the reason HEATs have the two extra inherents is because they were locked out of the respective regular pools (or vice versa).

I think we're still misunderstanding each other about what I meant by "mirroring." It has nothing to do with the relationship of Warshades to Peacebringers but those ATs and their respective travel powers to the standard travel powers in the power pools. In my earlier comparisons was I just using the ATs themes to come up with solutions for powers.

The WS “mirror” to Group Energy Flight is actually Shadow Cloak. Personally I think it fits the AT better and I’d much rather keep that then get group TP.

So what would replace GEF for PB’s if it was made inherent?

If by mirror you mean unlock at the same time then I think it would be Twilight Shield.. I meant that WS mirror Teleport pool, PS mirror Fly pool.

As far as what would replace it, a group heal or buff. It could be called Radiance, Glowing Aura, Lustrous Aura and you could summon a well of light at a targeted location that provides either a small tohit buff (think of shining light on something helps you see it better) or healing aura. Warshades are all about extracting/absorption, outward->inward. PBs are all about extending essences/radiating light, inward->outward.

  10. Both PBs and WSs have always mirrored the Fly and Teleport pools with their own themed versions, many of which are inherent. I have an idea I think would be cool.

Both ATs should have the group travel abilities. PBs have Group Energy Flight but WS don't have Team Teleport. They can both be situationally useful in a team setting (navigating areas like shadow shard, helping lowbies reach new heights - although we get travel powers at lvl 4). Due to Khelds extra power choices and slotting challenges these are some of the last abilities players will opt to get. I feel that these should both be inherent. I doubt it would be game breaking but would fit thematically with the ATs theme of being team oriented (Cosmic Balance/Dark Sustenance) and their selections of Fly and Teleport pools.

Group Energy Flight could be added to the Server Tray for Energy Flight, like Quantum Acceleration, and could be explained as your Peacebringer extending their energy to nearby allies. This could also be mirrored in the Fly pool.

Playing around with names for WSs Team teleport:

    Shadow Transit

    Quantum Step

    Shadow Fold

    Shadow Lunge/Leap

    Group Shadow Step

    Cluster Step

    Thoughts?

  11. I play the exact same way as @Doomrider and @Xiddo.

I change forms constantly to get those other abilities. Take a lot of damage and human heal isn't up? Switch to Dwarf and use that heal then go back to Nova and do damage. Inner Light recharged? Drop down to human form and get buff then back to Nova to blast and use Ion Judgement for the extra damage modifier. There was a time, back on live, where the forms had a "cast time" and weren't instant. You also couldn't use forms with Light Form which forced you to be human during that time and be a whispy ball of light.

  12. Welcome to Khelds! It can be a lot of clicking but I when you get your keybinds down it's actually easier for me then other ATs. I use a Razer Naga so a lot of my binds are executed with my thumb. I'm not sure if you're going to get the forms but the same key can be used to active a human form power, nova, and dwarf. For example: This bind will let me attack with Radiant Strike, Bright Nova Scatter, or Dwarf Flare depending on the form I'm in. Type everything inside the brackets [ /bind 4 "powexecname Radiant Strike$$powexecname Bright Nova Scatter$$powexecname White Dwarf Flare" ] I have all of my key binds in my build page here in the forums. I use F for fly, G for nova, V for dwarf, X for Light Form, Hasten is on Auto (hold control and click the power icon). Since you use 1-6 you could keep it easy and have all you're attacks that you use often there for each form. Hope this helps!

Just came across this (working on my first PB, and was searching regarding Incarnates), and noticed you mention you farm with your PB, due to capped resists.  Opening your build, though, I notice no DEF (but with resists capped with Light Form).  Are you managing to farm on +4/x8 with no DEF and 85% resists?  I usually farm on a 45% def 90% resist brute, so you should be taking 15 times as much damage, by my calculations (5% chance to be hit for 10% chance of the damage, for the Brute, vs 50% chance to be hit for 15% of the damage, for the PB).  I'm not trying to imply you're being anything less than truthful, just wondering whether I'm missing something!  Are you chomping on purple insps to keep DEF up?  Are your healing through the extra damage?

Hey, it's been a while since I've been on but hopefully you're doing well and still playing! I took some time off because of everything that happened last year. Yes, I do chomp on purple insp. (a lot of them) I can keep up with healing and I use the incarnates to add damage and heals. It's really just something I do for fun or for farming IOs or influence. I basically only play PB so I just try to keep him versatile and challenge myself. I even do PvP with my same build. I can finish with bosses turned on but it definitely requires attention and watching Light Form. I also use Quantum Flight to help mitigate if I need to. Thanks for checking this out though. 😄

I've been looking over your build and find it very inspiring and interesting. I did however find a few inconsistencies.

    1. You write that you bind solar flare to 3. But when looking over your mids build you never took the power.

    2. You also claim to have enough recharge to make hasten perma but, again only going from what I can see in mids, your almost 7 seconds off perma hasten. It might be because of updates and changes since you posted this but I would still like to know if the build you posted still has it ingame.

Other then these two, in my opinion, minor things. Very well done sir. I tip my hat at you.

Thank you very much! I appreciate that!

I'll have to look at the build I have listed, I have made some personal changes to it but the build has perma hasten for sure. I have 140% global recharge without hasten (210 with). I did switch out of Solar Flare because I realized I don't need it when I have the dwarf flare. Ever since shapeshifting became instant cast, I pop in and out of forms constantly. My power rotations vary and are flexible but I look at all the form powers as things I can use at any moment. Oh, and I getting surrounded by mobs? I can use all of my AoE powers (dwarf flare, seekers, dawn strike, nova detonation, etc...) from all forms.

I'll try to upload my current build soon (maybe tomorrow?).

On the pb side of things, I still take the forms explicitly for exemping. Any content below light form/dawn strike/solar flare makes the value of both forms very clear. Otherwise I tend to stay in human at 50. For warshades I think the forms remain valuable all the way through incarnate content, unless you are trying to run a lot of human toggles.

I feel like we've gotten on a tangent of "how do we make khelds better", which was not really what I was intending to spark. The intent was a discussion of build and play tactics to overcome the few things that aren't 100% the best at all times. The blinged out versions of these characters are some of the tankiest in game and simultaneously have excellent AoE potential. I don't think you'll get very far arguing for large buffs other than quality-of-life things like toggle suppression with that being the case. Not to say the discussion is invalid, because there are certainly some clunky design decisions still affecting khelds which you all have highlighted.

When things aren't 100% going my way, it usually involves endurance drain and recovery debuffs. A tactic I use to combat this involves Conserve Energy as well as Ageless Destiny. I can't stop -end attacks from happening, but Ageless will give me endurance to get the fight back, and Conserve Energy will help make sure I only sip at my end reservoir if my recovery has been tanked.

Another time things aren't going my way is a mob full of holds, slows and mez. Like a pack of seers or Illusionists or a large mob of nictus/void. LF+Dwarf greatly helps but if I start to get overwhelmed I can use Quantum Flight to phase out and wait for the status to wear off (this particularly works for slows and debuffs), re-buff and counter.

True, but with IOs set bonuses and incarnates granting the human form permanent hasten, permanent light form, permanent inner light and permanent essence boost can come close if not out doing the performance of the forms. So if human form at 50 has the potential to out dps nova as well as coming exceptionally close to dwarf form in terms of resistances but keeping the high dps that human form brings, and can come with all the standard team buffs and utilities, what is the benefit of forms then?

A benefit of the forms may be what some consider to be our largest problem: more powers. Since form transformations are instant, they’re basically buff powers that give you more attacks per power pick. Allowing us to have access to more powers for IO hacking. I think a build with nova will still out damage a human build because the form itself gives +damage and then the base of all the attack powers are already a higher scale than a blaster’s.  So the ceiling is higher. Dwarf gives you more mez protection, heal, HP boost, and a teleport. Plus all the strengths you mentioned will work in forms allowing them to go even further than by themselves. It’s also just a fun part of the lore and how our characters specifically are woven into the story, which I find pretty cool!:)

Downside? They cost endurance to run (kinda wish they didn’t), presents a problem for human toggle abilities, and will need to be slotted haha

  17. I kind of wish Group Energy Flight was inherent like Energy Flight and Combat Flight. You could also make the Shadow Slip for WS inherent too. I feel like with all that the game has for getting around, those power will never be taken. There are times I could find using Group Energy Flight for fun or for helping a lowbie character or even Shadow Shard stuff (since we don't really have TP friend powers - unless you choose Incandescence Destiny). Because all base building being free and "enterbasefrompasscode" macros to instantly TP to your base with no cooldown, WSs don't really need to take Shadow Slip either. They could be made inherent and either take set IOs or not.

I would also like Quantum Acceleration and Starless Step to be inherent (basically just giving us a travel pool for free - we have enough powers to worry about) but I'm on the edge about thinking that's too much lol.

Another idea I had for PBs would be to make Restore Essence usable on us (like normal) or usable on an ally. When you use it to rez an ally, they could get a temporary power called "Infused Essence" where their character is "infused with kheldian energy for a short time" which would give them a small +HP boost, small recovery boost, xp dept protection, and their attacks deal -def for 30s.

Also, if people think that's too much, perhaps because the Peacebringer infused part of their essence to resurrect a fallen ally, their max hp is reduced for a minute. Or not 😛 But thematically I think it's cool and we have Essence Boost to counteract that naturally.

  18. On 9/16/2019 at 11:47 AM, chi1701 said:

My simple issue is that forms are still very restrictive as to what abilities you have access to whilst in your forms. With incarnates and set bonuses, would giving pbs/ws access to some or every ability whilst in your forms be overpowered and why?

Wouldn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of the forms then? They're meant to be a totally different set of powers.

  19. So here's my take on this list for PBs

Mez- I would say the 1% is if I'm fighting a pack of Illusionists or AVs with large magnitude it does become an issue. But then, it would be for anyone. If I do get some status effect, it usually doesn't last long anyway, and I have no toggles to worry about dropping in my tri-form.

End - This I think is our biggest one really but if you know your enemies going in, you can adapt your alpha strike to deal with some of this. LF helps as well as Conserve Energy and IO procs. Late game, this is can be mitigated with Ageless Destiny. I would say there is one IO that can help with this and that's Panacea because it grants you an infusion of end rather than a recovery buff. But I wouldn't say it fills this hole.

Slow/-Rech - I do enjoy the fact that we have so many powers to slot that it allows us more variety of IO choices for set bonuses. My character has over 200% recharge and winter's gift slow res. So even if I get slowed, the fight won't last long enough for this to matter and I can use dwarf TP to move around. If it is long and drawn out, Dwarf can substitute for the remaining time until either LF has recharged or the fight is over. You can also use the phase shift to let status effects expire. The 1% problem is in the ITF Shadow Cyst mission. Now, that fight can last a while because they're all bosses. I could see soloing that to be an issue for sure.

Single Target Damage - I can agree our damage scale is lower than others. But I never felt like our attacks were weak, just that we have long animations. Radiant Strike is quick, but if Incandescent Strike was more like Bone Smasher, that might up our DPS a little. But I will never argue against having our damage boosted 😛

Psi - Sure, we don't get it from LF but with IOs and bonuses and with our heals and +HP, we can really handle this damage type well. It's also rare to be on a team without some Blasters, Scrappers, Stalkers, or Brutes to buff our resistance and many times adding their bonus to what I already have will cap my Psi res without me having to do anything. The 1% might be a pack of Seers, Carnies, or an AV.
