Pressing alt+enter changes to fullscreen from windowed mode and vice versa. If the res is screwy or zoomed in the disable display scaling takes care of that. To change resolutions use the settings option at log in screen if that doesn't work changing it ingame via the menu/option/graphics. If that doesn't work you can look in the registry and try changing it there. Two ways to open the registry in windows 10: 1~ In the search box on the taskbar, type regedit. Then, select the top result for Registry Editor (Desktop app). OR 2~ Press and hold or right-click the Start button, then select Run. Enter regedit in the Open: box and select OK. Once in the registry look for (in the left window): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\coh When you click on the coh folder in the left window all those REG_SZ files will show up in the right window. You can can edit a REG_SZ by right clicking it and choosing modify. Look for fullscreen and make sure value in the data column is 1. 1=fullscreen yes 0=fullscreen no Also look for screenX and screenY. 1920x1080p for example would be: screenX value for data column 1920 screenY value for data column 1080 See the screenshot: If the above solutions doesn't work I dunno tbh as those have for pretty much everyone else. Follow what is said in the OP. Tequila and Island Rum are homebrew launchers. The i24, i25 also known as issue 24 or issue 25 are the actual games files that you need or are talking about here. They can be downloaded from Tequila which I don't recommend it as it's not good at downloading big files OR you can get them from the torrent in the OP which is only the game files. You can also use the alternate torrent (magnet link) mentioned in the OP but that is located in one of my post near the bottom of page one of this thread. This torrent contains the game files AND tequila.

Guessing you are on w10 not w7 so keep reading, it's a little lower down. "For windows 10 Start > PC settings > Display > Under "Scale and Layout," change the dropdown option for "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" to the recommended setting (100% in my case)." @Misty your friend might want to try getting help on discord setup-install-help channel in the support section if she needs someone to give her a walk through it. Link is in the OP.

See post two of my install guide, a recreation of my previous guide in the "old" forums that got wiped out, look at link in my siggy. Might be nice if you guys moved all this to the Help forums and to my Install guide thread as I am sure linux users looking there might appreciate the discussions.
-
If you look at my my siggy there's a link to the old old forum via the waybackmachine which has a player guide section and maybe have what you need in the guide to guides.

I am Calistin on Discord so might have been me or one of the other people helping there. :)
-
It's a false positive, so add the whole game folder to you av whitelist/ignore list
-
Check the notes section of my install guide see link in my siggy, U need to disable display scaling and maybe even turn off vsnyc. you can use alt+enter to switch to windowed mode.
-
DO NOT use Tequila to download the games files. Tequila truly sucks at downloading big files and has issues and stalls etc etc. See my post above. Qube you can restart Tequila to make it start downloading again btw if you want to keep going that route.

People with windows 10 in discord are having all kinds of permission problems. You have to make sure you download all the files somewhere that has both READ and WRITE permission. If you stick these files somewhere that is read only it will not work. The launcher has to be able to overwrite the files to be able to update them. I made this for those not understanding which should help: 1~ make a folder on your c drive called "Games" (go into the c: drive, right click an empty space and choose new then folder) Important: Put the Games folder you just created into your antivirus exception list. 2~ download this: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:FD5ADD155E5FD01D6013B026A8766E56C2841E3D&dn=City%20of%20Heroes This contains both the game files and the Tequila launcher for windows. 3~ Once the torrent is done downloading move the "City of Heroes" folder (that you just downloaded from the torrent) to the Games folder you created in step 1 4~ In the city of heroes folder find the Tequila.exe right click, choose properties go to compatibility tab and make sure "run as admin" is checked hit apply and ok. 4.5 ~ In the City of Heroes folder rename the score folder to homecoming. (this is due to the server migration while torrent file are from before). 5~ double click tequila.exe, make sure score is highlighted, go in options and make sure the install path is C:\Games\City of Heroes, do this by using the browse button. Then click revalidate. 6 ~ Repeat step 4 but for the homecoming.exe. If windows defender is giving you problems, add the game folder (City of Heroes folder) to the exception list, in fact you should just do it. see here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-exclude-files-and-folders-windows-defender-antivirus-scans

I start tequila but it say validating and then closes
Silk replied to Shivenn's topic in Help & Support
What I meant, was that I tried launching it from score.exe as an alternative, since Tequila goes to download, then closes. Tequila does this also when running as Administrator. If tequila goes to downloading then you dont have it pointed to the right place check your install path in options make sure tequila is pointing the the game files. -
Yes because the torrent in the OP is the game files only, They are also referred to as i24 or i25 or issue 24 or issue 25. The "score" files are part of the launcher. There are two launchers Tequila for windows and Island Rum for Mac OS This is stated in step one.
-
Not being a laptop expert here but make sure your laptop is running of your proper gpu and not off the integrated one? Seems I read some laptops user were having this problem.
-
The magnet link near the bottom of page one (as of last night) had everything you need. It contained all the files. There might be a small update but very small this morning as they have been something to the servers and mine just downloaded/revalidated. The torrent from the OP has only the game files so you then have to download the Tequila launcher or the Island Rum launcher depending on if you have windows or MacOS. People on Discord have used it quite successfully and I have helped quite few people that needed help yesterday. Be aware the magnet link near the bottom of page one is for windows OS and not MacOS as I stated.

I start tequila but it say validating and then closes
Silk replied to Shivenn's topic in Help & Support
First you must launch the game from Tequila.exe not score.exe. Make sure once tequila has opened that score is highlighted and hit play. IF it just crashed there good chances the City of Heroes Folder (or w/e you called your install folder) does not have read AND write permission. -
No I dont think the servers are linked. Atleast when I checked out excelsior my character from torchbearer was not available.
-
I had the same error. I had to right click the coh folder and turn 'Read Only' to OFF, then run tequila as administrator. Hope this helps. Try re-verifying if those steps don't work, Options in tequila. If you get any errors check that read only option again, mine got turned on again after a patch. Tequile was having an issue downloading the score files earlier but it should be fixed now. Try revalidating via options and don't forget the city of heroes folder needs to have both read and write permission. The launcher (Tequila) needs to be able to write to the folder so it can update.

Updated a few things for 4k res users in the notes section.
-
Guys go look at my Install Guide scroll down in the NOTES section it shows how to fix all this.
-
If i recall right in another thread, cant remember which one other 4k users fixed the problem by editing the system setting in the registry somewhere. See here: https://score.savecoh.com/index.php/topic,198.msg1732.html#new Remember that the graphical settings are stored in your system registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\coh . You can run Regedit to access and modify the values if needed. Fixed it. Had to set the DPI setting to application and NOT system!

Cipher I originally got the files from last weekends Bree server. They also worked when this server reopened after Yuki or w/e panicked. I guarantee there is nothing other than what you guys put in it originally, please feel free the download or have someone you trust download and check the files. Also the files from that google drive I do believe are from my torrent, just someone from discord also uploaded there I think since my upload isn't really on par with my download speeds. Also may I suggest you guys make this whole process easier as people seem to be having lots of problems this time around compared to last weekend guide I wrote up. Tequila really sucks at downloading so why do you guy not make two or three magnet torrents With both the i24/i25 files AND Tequila in a City of Heroes folder so people can download that the first time around. Do likewise for Mac users with Island Rum. This way Tequila or Island Rum would only have to do smaller downloads when you update something.
-
You guys can use the link in my previous post and once the download starts just download the file you need, You don't have to download the whole folder. Your bitclient should have an option that lets you see what files you are downloading and it should have an option to stop and prioritize, which files you want. This should also allow you to stop downloading the individual files and just download the ones you need like score.exe and the score folder ones, they should look like score/.

UPDATE: I have updated to a new magnet torrent which updates everything to 5/8/2019 including the tequila, xml with the new code so it will no longer be necessary to use the tequila.xml in the OP (attachment). See my post on page 6 for more details. I will try an experiment if you guys are willing. I have the game running, I am on windows 7 64. (It should work for w10 too) I am using Tequila, the Tequila and game files are in a folder called City of Heroes. I can make a magnet torrent that you all can download. You should be able to get the game working simply by putting the folder from my torrent which is "City of Heroes" in your usual games folder as long as it's not in c:/program files it should be okay. Once downloaded just use the Tequila.exe, it may ask where you want to install it, just choose this very same folder. Game should work, you might have to check settings and keybinds though as I play at 60hz/1080p and switched the mouse look toggle to right click instead of having it hold right click down. magnet:?xt=urn:btih:FD5ADD155E5FD01D6013B026A8766E56C2841E3D&dn=City%20of%20Heroes If you are having "Access to Path" problems make sure to give the City of Heroes folder both read AND write permission.

Updated to v3. # How to fix City of Heroes issues with OpenGL on Intel video cards (GPUs) Please note this procedure has been updated as of 16 May 2019 to reflect the change in Homecoming's file name. Further updates have been made to update more GPUs. This process was created by the SCOTS team in order to allows you to create what is known as a driver shim. This is basically a way to force the Intel driver (which is the root of this issue, not City of Heroes at all) to work in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. Usually this sort of thing is handled by the folks who made the driver or by a game's developers. Since we lack the latter here & Intel doesn't seem to care about OpenGL support, we're forced to do this ourselves instead. It may be worth attempting to run CoX in compatibility mode (Win7/8/8.1) first. That's not a universal solution but some report it does the trick and is much simpler. Ask how in one of the support channels on the Discords if you're unsure! Please note as well this will not likely improve performance for folks who can already get into the game. This is generally intended for allowing those with the affected GPUs to launch the game at all or who experience crashes almost immediately to play. This is somewhat of a work in progress as to specific GPUs and such. Please bear with us. If you have feedback for this process, please be sure to let me (Nilt) or another SCOTS volunteer know. List of Intel GPUs confirmed to operate well with this process: Intel HD 3000 Intel HD 620 Intel HD 630 Please let a member of SCOTS know if more GPUs are confirmed to work with this. I will be happy to update this as we go. Anything I ask you to type will be enclosed in "quotes". DO NOT include the quotes, they're just to make clear what you need to type. Any bold text below is either a button label that you need to click or the name of the window or list where we are. ### Let's figure out which version of Windows 10 you're on: 1. Right click the Start menu in the lower left of your screen and choose System. 2. Scroll down to Windows specifications and look for the Version. It should be 1607, 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, or 1903. 3. Go to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/get-started/adk-install & download the Windows ADK for your version of Windows. ### Now to install the program: 1. Run ADKsetup.exe when it is downloaded. 2. Leave the top option selected & click Next. 3. Choose whether to send Microsoft some usage data & click Next. 4. Click Accept after reading the agreement (ha!). 5. Uncheck everything in the list of features & click to check Application Compatibility Toolkit. 6. Click Install & choose Yes when asked if you wish to allow it to make changes to your computer. 7. Click Close and restart the computer if prompted. ### Now we need to run the "Compatibility Administrator(32 bit)" program: 1. Click your Start Menu (usually in the lower left of the screen). 2. The application should be at the top. If not, start typing the name above though there's no obvious box to type in. 3. Click it when it shows up. 4. Click Yes again to allow it to make changes to your computer (it needs to be run as an administrator). 5. Select New Database(1) [untitled_1] under Custom Databases from the list on the left. 6. If Custom Databases is not present, click the New button above. Otherwise, skip to the next step. 7. Click the Fix above. ### Now we're in the "Create new Application Fix" window: 1. Type "City of Heroes" in the first box. 2. Type anything you wish in the middle Name of the vendor for this program box. 3. Click the Browse button & locate the game's folder. * If you do not know where your folder is, ask whoever you got these steps from or seek assistance in the Discord's tech help channel. 4. Navigate into the hc-bin64 folder. * Do this if you're running a 64-bit operating system, else hc-bin32. 5. Click one time to select cityofheroes.exe then click the Open button. * This may only say cityofheroes depending on your system's settings. If so, select the one with the City of Heroes icon, not a folder icon. 6. Click the Next button to proceed. 7. Click Next to skip the Compatibility Mode options. 8. Scroll down the Compatibility Fixes list to Win81RTMVersionLie & click the box to the left of it. - You may press the W key on your keyboard to jump most of the way but don't check any other boxes accidentally if you do so. 9. Click the Parameters button above the list. ### Now we are in the "Options for Win81RTMVersionLie" window: 1. Leave the Command line box completely blank. 2. Type "ig4icd64.dll" in the Module Name box. * You might need to use ig4icd32.dll if you're going with the 32-bit option 3. Click the Add button to the right then click the OK button below. 4. This brings you to the Create new Application fix window. Click the Next button. ### We're now in the "Matching Information" list: 1. Click the Unselect All button to the bottom of the left. 2. Click the checkbox for ORIGINAL_FILENAME=CityOfHeroes.exe. 3. Click the checkbox for INTERNAL_NAME=CityOfHeroes. 4. Click the Finish button below. ### We're now back in the main view of the Compatibility Administrator: 1. Click the Save button at the top of the window. 2. Type "CoH OpenGL" in the Database Name box then click the OK button. 3. A new Save Database window opens. Type "CoHOpenGLShim" in the File name box at the bottom. 4. Click the Save button to the bottom near the right side. 5. Note: Stay in the same program for this step. Right click CoH OpenGL [C:\Games\City of Heroes\CoHOpenGLShim.sdb] and choose Install. * Note that the C:\Games\City of Heroes part varies. Your path, if different, will show there instead. Also, the part in brackets is often cut off depending on the size of the window. 6. Click OK to the prompt when it's installed. Try running the game. Hopefully it'll work but if not, please be certain to let someone in the Discord tech assistance channels know! You may have a slightly different Intel driver file or something which we can help you identify.
