Shouldn't you ask how the update is doing? After asking where and who, it must be going through some identity crisis now.

Fire Epic, is not there for thematic purpose, I think I just had it there, mainly there as I had it there cause I did have what I had originally on the build which is currently on the build. This is just a 1.2 re-tweak of the build which feels better than what I have right now, but does not kinda feel good on paper yet. So I will look at taking the Psi epic as a replacement for fire and piece around stuff. Also originally in my re-tweak I did have arcane bolt 5-slotted with Apocalypse which I think gives the best oomph, but I forgot about a couple of other pieces I did not slot properly. Which kinda made a mess at the end. If going Psi mastery for Indomitdable gives the mez resistance, I would easily move off RoP, as that was more for the emergency button. I will take a look at the Camel thread and see what he has done out and make my plans accordingly.

A true guide to Doms under 5 secs. 90 secs for perma-dom.

I was going over an old build of mine which I was never happy with, which was my Fire/Dark troller. I went through what it currently has on it it and trying to change and retool the character. I do not think I had a real specific goal in mind like perma-fade, just looking for a nice well rounded character. I think it is almost there, but maybe missing a spot or two. I just wanted to see if there was something obvious I missed before I started the retooling. Controller (Fire Control - Darkness Affinity) 2.mbd

What's the point of this SG base computer?

Primarily originally for the Silver Mantis SF back in the day, and CoP trial. That is the two thinga I remember doing on live with them. -
What are the actual mechanical benefits of Domination?
Snokle replied to Story Archer's topic in Dominator
Is the 117.5% recharge with hasten running or just you base level global bonus recharge? If that is you global recharge minus hasten then you are more than golden with a bit of buffer room. Unless you are getting crammed with a lot of slow or -rech effects. Which the Ageless will counter act if you have that T4 version, then you are fine. -
I think you can go with no hasten and make it Perma-dom, if that is the goal, it might be just a bit of planning to make sure to go there. I would not skip on the fire armor epic, as it gives too much resistance numbers for you powers. You can take CJ, Leadership, Force of Will set for travel power, then Fire Epic, with the primary and secondary, it should be doable? I would have to look more into it in Mids. Skipping hasten just adds another power which could take a LoTG mule if you are short for that.

What are the actual mechanical benefits of Domination?
Snokle replied to Story Archer's topic in Dominator
Majority of people try to make domination permanent, as it is easily achievable and it has a very clear upside aside from just more endurance but improved holds and Mez protection. Even minor min/maxing people will try and get that. It is not needed but people will always go for it as it is just clear mechanical improvements. It turns the tied in all field of combat, while not always needed and people do not need it, there is an advantage with it when going against tougher encounters or increasing difficulty Also I play the game and the end game. I plot and plan out my character from 1-50 and then redefine them at 50+ if I want more out of them. For my dominators, and most other ATs as I have seen other commentators on this sub-forum say, I play the character to understand the combo I picked, which powers work and what doesn't work. Once I know what I like and do not like I will make a build and refine it over and over again, getting peer reviews until I get something I am happy with. -

I mean as a wrestling fan in real life MMOs do not really have that unless you are going one on one with an AV, then you want perma dom anyway as it still is quite a tussle. While certain builds can do it easily, it is not just a walk in the park. Also since we cannot control the number and rolled for you and against you like how it is planned in wrestling the moment for your signature move does not match that fully. The best you can do usually is to take advantage of the mechanics of the game and work best to leverage to what you desire and want. -
I do not have a farmer, and never had any interest in farming or Auction House work in this game. While I am probably low on alt counts sitting around 26 lvl 50 characters. Easily most of them are pretty much fully kitted out. While the one I def call my mains are highly kitted out. Unless you want to immediately want to get all the powers slotted with purples, winters, PVPs, etc you can make quite a bit of money playing the game and through merits to get the gear you need. Just takes some planning on what your goals for a character are.

Never got to experience that, only read about it on the wiki, and I would love to see that in game, especially if it is designed to be no holds barred against us. Also the Rularuu invasion from Issue 2 would be really cool to reintroduce as I read up about that stuff. In a way you could use the Shard TFs to trigger that in a zone possibly? Give them some more juice to do than just when they are WSFs.

What are the actual mechanical benefits of Domination?

As others said the Fiery Orb ATO is nothing to go home about. For creepers the best thing to slot would just be procs, primarly the AOE dam procs as those go off the most for for it. Then others after to fill out what ya need. -
Sounds good, I am interested to see what you plan out with /earth, as it is a great set, and I had a great time with /Earth Dom. Lots of KD potential and stun effects. Endurance can be heavy at times, but once you get more control under it you can make it a real beast!

What are the actual mechanical benefits of Domination?
Snokle replied to Story Archer's topic in Dominator
Domination power as per the wiki: Domination protects the villain from Knockback/Knockup, Repel, Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, and Confuse effects, and can be activated even while suffering from them to break the villain free. Domination doubles the magnitude of the villain's own Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, and Confuse effects for their normal durations, then keeps them going at normal magnitude for half that amount of time longer. Debuffs and other secondary effects are not improved. Also I think for the first 10-20 secs you get a to-hit bonus to all your power as well which MIDS does show when you toggle Domination On. So, 10-20 sec to-hit buff, double magnitude for control powers for 90 seconds, and for 90 seconds have mez protection, which can be activate while under an effect. -
Don't get me wrong I love Ice Control, it is a personal favorite for dominators for me. I can help the best I can with ya. I do not want to deter you from using if you want to. Just giving my experience so people can enjoy the set as much as possible.

I will take a look over the build a bit when one is posted, I cannot talk much for Elec Assault, but Ice Control works best and excels in melee combat. You bread and butter soft control powers work best in melee range which is Artic Air and Ice Slick. So working with a secondary that excels in melee will make the build feel much smoother but again anything works. For Ice and Psi epics, I usually prefer Res Armor Epics because Doms do not get inherited -defense debuff, so unless your primary or secondary can really take advantage of defense armor it can be tricky. Psi has the advantage of having a lot of LoTG mules which gives a bit of a bonus, but the AOE is just average. Ice armor is great and gives you high levels of def where ya want to be which is S/L, has an amazing debuff in sleet, good AOE, nice heal, and an oh shit power. The epics are always players choice but it fits what you want your character to do, as I said my preference is res armors. Aside from that control is your primary defense, with 90% recharge being the main goal to get permadom to lock down enemies. Then shore up with a layer defense mix of res/def numbers till you are comfortable. Also adding about 50% slow resistance for comfort if possible. Edit - spelling errors

Shoot, I misspoke about IO to put in frozen armor, I am sorry. It should be Gladiator Shield, the Def PVP IO. Those three set bonuses are better than the LoTG three set bonuses, and getting +5 on the Def and Def/End should push your numbers a bit higher. It is looking good, I liked the slow resistance, and you usually like to have about 50%. But 30% with your recharge should be a okay.

So just looking through the picture, these are my immediate thoughts on specific things. A lot of recharge, you could trim a couple a bit to place some procs in other attacks to really build up the attack chain to up the damage. Usually I am not a big fan of just defense on Doms, but with the -to-hit from Dark it should help negate a bit there. Aside from that, I just wrote a kinda list of notes of stuff on how I have my /psi dom and dark/ dom. Lliving Shadow - 2 slot winter IO is all that is needed TK - I prefer 6 slotting this, putting the KB-KD IO in and then proc bomb Mind Probe on mine, I proc bomb, but five slot Heta is good Possess - good Fearsome Stare - best put Clouded Senses four slot, and +5 them. Or Five slot it with the ATO without the proc Heart of Darkness - Proc Bombing it is good. Haunt - Good as is, you can look at putting the +rest IOs in here if you want Umbra to be more tanky. Drain Psyche - Fine, I usually us Hamis in mine and ignore IOs for this. But Prevent is good here. Another to think of is Pancrea Shadow Field - Solid slotting, if you used Clouded Senses, you can put the ATO here instead. Psionice Lance - good slotting. If there is enough recharge this can be a good proc bomb. Shockwave, - 5 slot Armageddon is the best way for that. Umbra Beast - good Frozen Armor - Use Gladiator Armor Def and Def/End instead of the LotG ones, they are generally better with better bonuses. I would look at trying to find a way to put in subdue into your attack rotation, as it can put in the ATO proc, so you can have it up 2-3 times consistently and have good DPA. I cannot say what power to take out, but that might be something to think about.

I usually put in Ice slick for my alpha then dive in to start abusing AA procs. Flash Freeze is nice if that is needed, but Ice Slick/Flash Freeze -> AA is all that is needed.

Hey all, So after benching this toon for a bit after hitting 50, as I felt it was alright I went back to the drawing board, and looked up some other notes and ideas from other peeps around that had some experience with the Storm powerset. With the the new found knowledge I have this build currently going. I am pretty happy with it, but always checking if there is some minor tweaks I can do that I might of missed. One thing I will say for this, is I did opt not to take hasten for this build as a choice, as I was running it earlier in the build but I found I was just sucking my blue bar way too much. I find right now, I am able to get pretty smoothly two tornadoes, and usually two to three lightning storms at a time. Defender (Storm Summoning - Water Blast).mbd

Trying Dark/Assault, not sure what's worth taking
Snokle replied to BasiliskXVIII's topic in Dominator
So looking through what you have, just some eyeball suggestions. I have no experience with Arsenal so I cannot help there, but I played a bit with Dark, and can try to help with it. I am guessing you are trying to get perma-domination correct? There will be some of peeps will help out with some builds and parts when it comes around but, purps, ATOs, and some winters super help make a dom a beast. For power choices, looking just at Darkness control, I would remove Shadowy Binds, you do not need a single target Immob. The damage is poor and will not help ya in the long run. Possess can be helpful if you are running the Purple IO, but personally I am not a huge fan of it, but can be strong if you want to run it. I do not link the AOE hold, it has a long recharge time, and there are better powers, I feel Doms have that can take in AOE in controls that take over than the hold. Heart of Darkness is a must, it is a signature power of the set, while PBAOE it has a huge stun time, and if you want to (I recommend) it can be highly proc'd to do some good damage. Pick it up as early as possible, and six slot it. Fearsome stare should for 5 slotted, with 4 clouded senses and the proc for Glimpse of the Abyss, the fear has a natural long time, and the -to-hit is the big draw. Dark Grasp, can be 4 slotted if you need IO bonuses, or 6 slotted for proc damage. Living Shadows, only really need 1-2 slots. It is best to put winter IOs if you got the money for them the Winter range IO is best for them. Immob time is nice and long. Hasten only needs two 50+5 IO slots now, no needs to three slot it now. If I recall right now, I use Clouded Senses x6 in Haunt now, trying to lean more into the -to hit for them then damage. Umbral Beast - Expedient Reinforcement, All three Damage IOs, and the Res Proc, Soulbound Proc, Clouded Sense Proc Also as a general rule for the sniper attack, people usually go six slot it if they can, 5 manit, Apocalypse proc. -
I have three melee Doms in various levels which I feel are great to play around with, with the following secondaries, psionic assault, earth assault, and dark assault. I have Ice/Psi, and a Plant/Earth at 50 and an Ill/Dark in the early 20s. They have a solid melee components to them with a nice feel of punch.
-
So I think the psi resistance think is a bit overrated. Yes robots have high pain resistance and some AVs do as well. But all in all there is a lot who have no resistance and you can really lay into that. Also if you were worried, the two main melee attacks have great proc quality, as well as the range immob attack. Drain Psyche is the bees knees for it, as well as psychic shockwave. Once you add plant to it you will be a monster running through mobs. Plant is extremely procable with vines, roots, and carrion doing some massive work, adding in the handy -def as well. This can be an AOE hoser with some solid ST chain attacks. Epic/Patron would be more personal but with the little extra they add you can be a beast.

I will say, I understand the pain sometimes that come up for this. I know there is a SG that Voltor is apart of that does planned MO events at times where you can sign up and do attempts with them. I was able to get a few hard runs with Voltor, as he is a machine for badging. If not, and I am around to play a game I can assist on that. I enjoy the old school challenges of this. It has been a while since I done old school MO runs.
