Yep I totally get it, I do the same thing for most of my builds, but there are just a few I like to play through the level-up process, I thought it might be fun to try it with the PB and your build looked like a blast. No sweat, I'll figure something else out for levelling and come back to this build at 50.

I think he's going for S/L just because he can get there with cheaper IOs for starting out. I can see him switching to fire after he's started to make a bit.

Yeah - personally I am a fan of Rad/Fire - but my friend just wants to do something a bit different 🙂

A friend of mine has just got on to Homecoming after not playing since sunset. He's just learned about AE farming and decided he wants to make himself a farming toon, but he has a penchant for playing unusual/difficult builds so he wants to do it as Staff/Dark. I've not played around with either of those powersets and I don't really know how either work, so I have no idea how to help him so I thought the folks here might have some clues. Does anyone have any ideas for a staff/dark build for S/L farming? Is it feasible?

Am I doing something wrong, misunderstanding something, or is the slotting in the saved build broken? When I load it up in mids, I see slots in powers you don't have yet e.g Level 3 and 5 slots going into White Dwarf Smite (which you don't get until 20), L15 slot in Incandescent Strike (picked at 18) and so on. Obviously it would work fine if you were already overlevelled and respeccing, but it doesn't work for levelling up as you play.

My understanding was that Savage Leap was a pretty poor performer on Stalkers, is that not the case?

Well, one other place I've considered pulling a slot is Hasten. With Agility and Ageless T4, just one L50 Recharge IO gets the recharge on Hasten down to 110s so it's still perma. You do need to keep Ageless up on CD, but most of them time I find I'm doing that anyway. Obviously it means the build won't do so well if you exemplar down. But if I was going to exemplar I would be using a different build anyway, not my farming setup. For what it's worth, slotting the Unbreakable Guard 7.5% HP IO instead of a Recharge in FE gains you 113HP which works out as an extra 1.1hp/s regen. It definitely isn't a lot, but I'm not sure how to compare the value against just 2s of recharge in FE. I guess the real question might be what else you could do with that slot, I don't know if the HP is the best option. It was really just an idle thought.

@HelenCarnate, what do you think about swapping the recharge in Fusion for a Gaussians Build-Up Proc? With Ageless t4 and Hasten running it's only a 2s difference in recharge, for an extra 80% damage when Fusion is up. Similarly, I was toying with pulling the 2nd slot from FE and putting it into Fire Shield to fit an Unbreakable +7.5% HP for an extra hp/s or so. It's a much smaller change as you hardly take any damage once you crack the Def cap anyway, but with T4 Ageless and Hasten running that slot only makes a 2s difference in recharge time on FE and I'm not sure that's worth it either. The other possibility might be to combine the two and go with 2 slots in Fusion for either 2 Gaussians or Gaussians Proc + a Recharge IO. Any thoughts?

Blacken, Spines/Fire Brute, summoned from the nether realms: Bytesize, an Elec/Shield Scrapper (also a rock'em sock'em robot): Blazing Bolt, Fire/Fire Sentinel and my homage to a silver age style costume: Fiasco, SS/WP Brute: Gammgeddon, Rad/Bio Brute - probably my personal favourite: Siphonic, Kin/Sonic Defender (yeah, I really like that cape): Mechanicum, Bots/Time MM: Refraction, Ill/Rad Controller (did I mention I like that cape?): Trailblaze, Fire/Time Corruptor: ...that's probably enough of an image dump for now!

I'm torn between Musculature Core and Radial.

I'm not sure what triggers this as I've completed the mission on other characters with no issue however: On one of my characters, at time of writing an L42 Ill/Rad controller, during the "Deadlock's Personal Story" solo mission from Eagle Eye in King's Row, the "Super Serum" power does not get granted - it doesn't show up on the hotbar and it doesn't appear anywhere in the list of powers. This makes it impossible to complete the mission.

... which in turn means you can fit everything on 4 portals, for what it's worth.
