  1. It's not irrelevant, because nerfing a iconic power in a set this hard when it has never been above mid-tier isn't how you do game balance. Also, UM is the better high end option over rage, because ultimately, having better damage scales is better than crutching on a redundant damage buff.
  2. Isn't fiery Melee kinda mid outside pylons? But the overall message is sound.
  3. More sets should honestly be made with the intention of bolstering your primary. It's a shame we're moving backwards.
  4. Kinda starting to lose the plot, aren't we?
  5. I wish people who don't understand the set would stop acting like they do.
  6. -defense hurts resist characters, and -res hurts defense characters. This line of thinking is why this new rage crash is largely hated.
  7. Then we are in agreement. Some people really seem to think that -20% resist wouldn't hurt a set like SR, and are just flat out wrong.
  8. It kills me that rage is such an absurdly overrated power that we're at the stage where we're bargaining with a 40% resist crash. Give me the new hand clap and delete rage, I genuinely won't care.
  9. Because the crash is worse for every set now, rather than being a small hiccup for three of them and a cascading funfest for the others. For this downside for rage to make any sense at this point, Super Strength would have to be on par with old titan weapons, and it isnt even in the same realm as martial or savage. Oh, and I'll wait for the "rage is op" camp to provide any data to back up that claim, as they are making the claim. Rage has been fine for 21 years, but you think its a problem now. Prove it.
  10. The new crash really is the contentious issue here. It's the one they need to budge on because the idea behind it is inherently flawed. On what planet is making regen squishier neccesary because the poor bastard took rage? If you're concerned about porting the set to scrapper, just don't port rage. Remove the crash for brutes and tanks and the two options are competitive, hell, I'd take UM most of the time regardless.
  11. It's a shitty attack, is what it is. Beanbag energy. I'll never understand people who defend worthless attacks like this.
  12. In summary: Rage changes: terrible. Remove the crash, the justification for making it worse is flimsy at best. The fact ss has bottom tier dps in all single target benchmarks makes a mockery of the notion it's overperforming. Unleashed Might: A weird approach to buffing ss's poor damage scales, but its servicable to that end, perhaps will need a buff when/if procs are deleted. Um+hand clap: Solves a lot of problems with ss before foot stomp is obtained, and gives you an actually usable aoe filler. Hurl: Too slow and clumsy to get value out of for a set with ss's aoe coverage. Just make it a good single target attack, that is a huge issue ss has. It's interesting to me that people who claim rage is too strong can't really substantiate that claim beyond "but big damage % number!" By that metric, why aren't brutes the strongest dps in the game with a constant 400% damage buff just for existing? Ss isn't top tier, so how is it a threat to game balance? Like sure, if you put rage on a claw scrapper, it would be broken, but ss is balanced around it, just like dark melee is balanced around soul drain. Ss's one major advantage was foot stomp's radius, power and mitigation, with the brute buffs, those advantages relative to other sets like martial take a substantial hit.
  13. I speak to synapse regularly, and its entertaining af to see how much on the same page we are when it comes to coh. He also thinks the bio changes are terrible, lol. The whole point of offensive adaptation is to give you an offensive benefit when you aren't in danger anymore. In a game where most sets are old and in need of modernizing, its stupid to focus on the newest thing with new ideas and direction and act like it being an outlier is the problem.
  14. Why is there no feedback thread for pyro? The set is terrible at being a control set as it stands, but the nerfs to it's procs essentially destroy the one thing it had going for it without adequately fixing the core issues.
  15. Still beats titan weapons and martial in that respect. You have no notable aoe until you're already halfway to 50. I do have long term concerns about ss performance if/when they nerf procs, but until then, um + handclap is a fine solution to a lot of ss's problems
  16. 1) Containment is a shitty band-aid solution that doesn't work for the problem of controller damage. The person who worked on powers for paragon would tell you the exact same thing. If it were up to either of us, we would remove containment and rebalance control set damage across the board. 2) sleeps and adaptive holds arent a Controller fix. They fix specific sets due to inconsistent application. Great for mind doms, terrible for elec, plant and gravity controllers, for example. Making it work on fear just makes it functional for sets like illusion and mind. 3) Pets weren't improved beyond basic radial controls. A wise person once said about masterminds: "if basic radial controls count as a major feature of the AT, we really are fucked."
  17. @FupDup It's also the fact bio was NEVER top tier on surviving. Ever. If you want to live forever? You go shield or Sr and laugh at the entire game. Want to kill things faster? Well your options are bio and fire, but they effectively killed fire as a valid option until this patch. Brimstone is nice, but doesn't come close to cutting it. Bio on its own is actually rather poor at handling difficult mobs, it has zero debuff protections. The one advantage bio does have is the same as regen: its Regeneration, max hp and absorb are very good in a situation where barrier cycling and cold buffs cover all resists and defenses. Don't believe me? Go fight +5 arachnos without barrier or insps, tell me how that goes for you while my scrappers laugh at it.
  18. I'm going to give you a crumb of credit here: this is a much better way to handle this.
  19. The revisionist history is cute. We're almost at the point where hc is as old as CoH and this is what we have to show for it? Controllers as an at weren't touched at all in a meaningful capacity , and continue to be neglected. Terrorize proccing containment doesn't fix controllers, it just makes some sets functional for controllers that weren't before. And mind control on a controller is still pathetic. Why are we making things up?
  20. Is this the bio armor thread, or the Arcane's opinion about balance thread?
  21. It's also the fact that your top chain is basically impale>throw>ripper+lunge to maintain buff. So that's a chain consisting of a 2.23s cast, a 1.63 cast and a 2.33 cast. It's not really fluid, but it does hit hard, which is something a lot of slower sets lack.
  22. Just seems like the best way to determine if what it loses to not feel like crap is worth the trade. If 2s impale launches, it'd be fine, but there's definitely some flaws with it, especially for a scrapper. This is the perfect time to try different options for burst and impale.
  23. Are you open to trying it for the next build and having us sort of decide what we liked better? Maybe just for the sake of testing, have both versions as two selectable powers.
  24. This seems intended, or is probably just a quirk they can't change. I like it, though.
