That's new. As I recall, AV vs EB depended on team size. Think it was 4 or more players would mean Archvillain. While 3 or less would mean Elite Boss version instead. Which was a drastic improvement from Issue 1 just spawning them as an Archvillain to begin with. I remember having to recruit help because there was no way I could handle Dr Vahzilok on my own as an AV. Not that an Elite Boss is that much less dangerous then their Archvillain counterpart. Just that it was more possible to solo. Unless you're a controller, maybe.

I prefer +1 level, bosses enabled, and twice the enemies while solo. I'll need to experiment a bit to find that sweet spot with the "team size" metric instead of the old 5 tier difficulty setting though. This gives a good number of enemies that can be challenging without being too difficult to defeat, all 3 tiers of regular foes, and no risk of facing a full on Archvillain while solo. They can be difficult enough as an Elite Boss when you're solo.

I've been thinking of making a storm/water defender who's backstory is that due to a freak accident they have the power of an industrial cloths washing machine. Name? Laundro-Matt (the character's civilian name is Matt Matherson) -
A comic book from one of your characters
Pixie_Knight replied to MrNotorion's topic in General Discussion
Hmm, probably Arachnid Huntress would be the best one for a comic. It could focus on her transition from being a Super Villain to over time discovering she enjoys actually helping people and recovering her lost past. Her backstory is tragic enough for the best heroes, villains, and villains turned heroes from comics after all. -

To be fair, warshades appear to be more popular then peacebringers right now. And on a full team at high difficulty settings a cyst crystal spawn can be lethal. I've seen so many Terra Volta trials fail because of a cyst spawn or two which people didn't notice fast enough. And since cyst crystals only spawn if there's a keld on the team, I can understand a team running a difficult or tedious TF not wanting any kelds to join. That, and playing a keld well (especially a warshade) takes a LOT more skill then any other class. Plus specialized macros and binds which not everyone will look up how to make. People intentionally excluding Khelds are doing us all favor. They are showing themselves to definitely be a poor team leader, and there is a good chance they are also a control freak and/or just bad player. So it helps me decide which teams and leaders to bail on ASAP. I'm not disagreeing with you. I just can also see the reasoning why a team leader might exclude kelds from a TF they are running. As a responsible Warshade player I have a custom target keybind (on numpad /) to target any void hunters, quantum gunners, or cyst crystals within sight that are still alive. And I'll use it to multiple times before engaging a group to cycle through and see if there's any troublesome enemies among them. Especially important for me with Void Hunters and Quantum Gunners since if I don't spot them and deal with them first, they will wreck me. If I'm in a team and my targeting keybind selects a cyst crystal, I hit another keymind to say in team chat "CYST CRYSTAL! Target through me, we need to kill it FAST!" And when I first join a team, I'll ask if everyone is aware of the keld special enemy mobs. If not, I explain about cyst crystals and why they are priority number one if one spawns. I also use macros to switch my power tray when shifting to nova or dwarf from and a few other keybinds or macros that help improve my gameplay. On the other hand, just yesterday I was teaming with a warshade who kept getting caught by surprise by every quantum gunner or void hunter we encountered. He had no idea about what a cyst crystal is or why it's dangerous, despite having just done the HEAT mission arc (with me helping him) that introduces them. And every time he switched forms he had to take a moment or two to manually switch power trays by clicking on the arrows. He didn't even know that there's default keybinds for switching power trays. -

If they do anything like I do, it's not that we're ignoring people in Help chat asking for help. We merely take it to PM since the general conversations in the channel are so fast paced, any advice might be missed. So sending a PM ensures the message is seen. -
I've had a few motivations for villains. My first one, Mistress Poison, had been a lowly genin in a powerful ninja clan. One who wasn't particularly skilled at most of the craft, but very good with poisons. She was power hungry and ambitious far beyond her skill in stealth or combat. So she poisoned her clan's Kage and took over. Throughout her career as a villain the one goal that dominated it was the acquisition of ever more power. It wasn't enough to be the Kage of a powerful ninja clan. She had to be the most powerful person anywhere. The one who has no equals. And to achieve this goal, she is willing to do anything. My Arachnos Soldier VEAT has a backstory based on things I learned during the level 40+ story arcs Mistress Poison did. Arachnid Huntress was once a cop in Kings Row. She worked in Vice, and was under cover trying to infiltrate the Skulls. Since at the time the Skulls didn't allow women to become full members, she had to pose as a Skull member's girlfriend. When that particular group of Skulls decided to flee Paragon to the Rogue Isles the Chief of Police for Kings Row and higher ups in both Police and other agencies decided this was a prime chance to start getting real intel on the gang's leadership. After all, it was suspected the upper echelons of The Skulls were based out of Mercy Island. So the undercover cop went to Mercy with the gang members. Problem, she was latent psychic. And someone in Arachnos picked up on this. She got kidnapped, brainwashed, and shoved into the Wolf Spider program (due to lacking the aptitudes needed to become a widow). A few years later, and she no longer knew her original name and was a loyal member of Arachnos. Only she was getting extremely tired of being the punching bag for those 'destined one' pieces of scum that kept swarming all over Mercy Island. She was tired of being hospitalized by every would-be up and comer. So when she was contacted by a certain former member of Arachnos regarding an audacious plan to fake being a Destined One, well, Arachnid Huntress considered this her chance at getting some payback on those 'heroes' and the 'destined ones'. As well as all the rank and file Arachnos members who had kept crushing her chances of advancement on the grounds of "there's no such thing as a real female Wolf Spider." But as she goes on, as her force of will alters the very fabric of destiny, the brainwashing is starting to wear thin. So once again after completing the Patron arcs (and thus the Project Destiny storyline) she'll start the path towards redeeming herself and becoming a Hero.

See, I would have expected Dante's Impurrrno. She has a bunch of imps (she thinks they are really weird mice) following her around, has fur, and was mutated into a nekojin by her former boyfriend who was named Dante and kept claiming she belonged to him. I'll probably make a mad scientist type villain named Dante Cattman or something as her archnemesis. That, and Inpurrno was taken already. As was Infurno. Actually, I was chatting with someone named Infurno earlier today on Torchbearer. -
Yeah, take it from me. Some things you really want a bit of wiggle room for. I've lost count of how many times I've gotten hit by a hold or stun over the years because I was chaining attacks too efficiently and didn't leave a gap for Practiced Brawler to activate during the second it recharges/expires.
-
Huh, what do you know. I actually was right about the limit.
-
As I recall there is a cap on recharge reduction. But I can't remember off hand what it is. I want to say something like 300%, but I'm probably wrong. I know that some things like Hasten were patched back in the day to have recharges so long that you couldn't stack them.

That got fixed years ago. Open your map, if there is only one or two enemies left or only one glowie left the location appears on the map.

I personally tend to want to clear missions to begin with. The whole 'one player stealths to the end then Teleport the team' bit is kind of boring after all. But yeah, I've done a few TFs over the years where skipping most of the enemies was a decidedly good idea. Only for the person with stealth and teleport other to botch the teleport order, so the fight's triggered before everyone is around, and the entire room has been engaged. -

I use to have a catgirl themed demon summoner/Thermal mastermind named Dante's Impfurno. Might remake her. -
WIth that question, you can, IMO, launch a career in psychology. It is facinating to me, the brain chemistry of people that cannot let these things go. It's just... You know the saying. There's no use crying over spilled milk. When GDR hit, I was annoyed, but adapted. Actually I probably over compensated. When ED was announced I raged, ranted about how it was a bad idea. I tried using logic and reasoning (based on the incomplete information I had) about why this was detrimental. And when ED finally hit I tested, realized it wasn't as bad as I feared it would be, and adapted. Same with every other change I was worried about. I'd complain (if we had advanced notice), test things out when it went live, then move on. After all, there was nothing I could do to repeal the changes i didn't like, and they were never as detrimental as I feared they would be. It was almost like (gasp) the devs extensively tested the changes to make sure they weren't breaking things. Okay, patches did usually break something. But it was rarely anything directly related to what the patch was changing. It was things like the entrance/exit doors to Lord Recluse's tower vanishing. or server stability getting shot to heck till a hotfix patch was released. I remember after one patch (think the one that added Grandville and raised the villain level cap to 50) for a few days the game would crash after five minutes or five steps, whichever came first.
-
I just don't really understand why some people are so up in arms about the GDR patch, ED, and other early game balance patches. I mean, they happened within the first year and a half of the game. The game ran longer with the changes then it ever had without them. So why are people still clamoring for their removal?!

That's... EW, that's disgusting. Those things were all metal, and were not designed to be removable without the key. How does she go to the bathroom?! -

I remember back on the official servers running across a hero named Local Man. His bio was rather amusing. It went something like this: "Local Man, the most famous of heroes. Local man rescues cat from tree! Local man saves child trapped in a well! Local man arrested for (insert crime since I can't remember it)... Er..." -

I'm making a version of one of my Pathfinder Society Organized Play characters... Still deciding on powerset and archtype, but the name is Flo Ry'vir. Whatever I end up making, it'll involve water. -

Neither, he Cares. And he will save the world (or just rescue someone's cat from a tree) because he Cares. When you're lost and a lone, he'll find and rescue you because he Cares. Feeling depressed, he'll cheer you up because he Cares. Walking down a self destructive path of villainy? He'll stop you (and try to convince you to abandon villainy) because he Cares. Basically, think Care Bears in human form. Tiny human form, but human form.
