I often skip Tornado too, and I'm often inclined to skip Steamy Mist because it makes my charcter transparent (which I don't like)... but it's too useful to skip.  The main issue is that I can't run it because of endurance issues.

I was thinking of picking up SM at 35 so I can 6 slot it with enough endrdx to run it on occasion. Swap the endrdx with Hami-O's at 50. It probably is a useful power, but it needs slots due to its massive starting endurance.

I have a max level storm/storm defender myself and I'll agree there's a lot of powers that look good, but how did you come to skip Steamy Mist and Tornado? Steamy mist has great utility and increases defense and resistances. Tornado just does a ton of damage.

Ill probably have to try those eventually on a secondary build. Tornado has always scared me as an uncontrollable pet that brings on too much aggro. Steamy Mist I skipped because I generally solo. If I teamed a lot I would pick up SM to invis the team if necessary.

  3. I have a Storm/Storm defender currently at lvl 34. I took 6 Storm Summoning powers, skipping O2 Boost, Steamy Mist and Tornado. I took all Storm Blast powers except Jet Stream.  I try to keep the foes flopping in the Storm cell epicenter. I start off from full invisibilty, with Storm Cell, then Snow Storm and Freezing Rain. Then I start with the Storm Blast Powers. If the group has a boss or 2 lt, I will lay down  a Cat 5. I keep the KB powers like Gale and Hurricane to a minimum only using defensively if I have too many punching me in the face. Endurance is sometimes an issue soloing in long protracted fights so I have to toggle off infiltration and sprint (w/Celerity). I know I can put that Celerity into infiltration, but as I am still leveling up I needed a place for KB protection, and a Kismet +tohit. Eventually Ill get that Celerity moved over, and just use infiltration. This combo works just fine, albeit slow against foes that are energy resistant.

  4. I have one corr that is /Traps. I set up 3 toe bombs and a smoke bomb and caltrops, then fold space. Is that lazy, not generally. I only play that way when soloing. Teams would never wait for that. There are quite often a few slivers of health to clean up with energy blasts after the bombing.

  5. I have a SJ/Regen Scrapper that made 50 over a year and a half ago. I did not keep record of his leveling build, however. I do remember just placing priority into slotting all my attacks, and pretty much ignoring secondary slotting until mid 30's and upwards. Sorry I know that this is not much help, but its all I got.

  6. Speed runs, when you are soloing is fine. Try to beat your best time. When on a team, I find it hard to justify. There are some teammates that cannot survive being attacked by an entire spawn group, or don't have adequate stealth, or when you're facing enemies that rez themselves end up getting stuck dealing with that themselves, when the rest of the group moved on.

I just don't partake in team based speed runs. Hard pass for me.

  7. I have played Thugs, Bots, Beasts, Mercs, and Ninjas. That is the order of my preference as well.

I agree that MM /Poison secondary needs looked at.

Knowing what style of play works best with your choice of Primary and Secondary leads to the best success.  At range, in melee, that sort of thing. Also, some need the advantage of Bodyguard Mode, while others don't. Experimenting with different scenarios is what I like best about playing a MM.

  8. Fire RI(no one gets hit) + LR(no one moves) + EV( everyone dies fast, due to being debuffed hard) onto a LT in the grouping. Kill it last, that is your anchor. Run up next to him, he cant hit you especially if you have CC (PBAoE hold) kill everthing else first then humiliate the LT by Sands of Mu to the face. You can have any secondary, doesn't matter really.

  9. Farming to power level your lowbie weak character, I am assuming through dual boxing, is different from just making a Farming Brute or Tank and farming solo for influence.  I don't have any trouble with you doing either. However, some in the community do not like to play with a new 50 who made it to 50 by getting power leveled. They automatically think you do not know how to use your powers correctly.  When  I start a new character with powers I have never used or do not know their best use, I tend to solo that character and learn the powers, while feeding him influence my farming tank grinds for. It takes a while to get to that point.

Welcome back to the game. There is a whole lot of new content to enjoy that doesn't require a lvl 50. This is not a game that ever required you to get to max level to actually enjoy the content.

  10. OP I am the same way. I solo 95% of the time. I do join a league to kill a GM. I solo TF's that I can, like the old original Posi or maybe a Numina. I will join anyone that asks for help to kill something, or find a lost glowie, stuff like that. But I really don't do pick up groups anymore, unless they advertise as easy paced. I know why people do lvl 54 Paper missions but I don't need to do that so I don't.
