Radiaria Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 So I was looking into Elec/Shield... I came across Fortunata Hypnosis: Chance for PLACATE as a proc... if this is so... wouldn't that practically be yet another source of guaranteed critical damage if this procs?!
Hopeling Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Placate is a debuff, like stun or immobilize. The effect of a placate debuff is that the target cannot attack you. The power [Placate] places a placate debuff on the target, and as a second separate effect, it immediately puts you into Hide. Other placate effects don't do that second part, including (as far as I know) the Fortunata Hypnosis proc. 1

Frostweaver Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Like hopeling said, I played around with it on my bs/bio, it doesn't force a crit. Kinda lackluster, to be honest.
William Valence Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Placate(Effect) is not what causes crits. The hidden(status) causes crits. The Placate power that stalkers have provides two effects: It placates the target which drops threat. This is the effect that the Fortunata Hypnosis proc has. It applies the hidden status to self. This is the effect that the Stalker's Guile Proc has Other placate powers such as Smoke flash or Pacify are the same as the Fortunata Hypnosis proc. They Placate, but do not grant the hidden status. 1
