We have a pretty passionate player base here. This suggestion is for both the community and the Homecoming team.

How about recording voice-overs for mission descriptions?

We could find some volunteers from the community who would like to record some NPC dialog lines. I don't think it would be too hard to add a script that plays an audio file when a mission window comes up.

IMO:

No to voiced lines in this game, ever.

Double no to amateur voice acting.  Even professional voice acting can be wildly uneven in quality, and that's with a consistent recording setup, etc etc.

Agree.  It's one of the nice things this game never had.

I'd even go as far as to say it's nice that it doesn't have audio chat for similar reasons.  Nothing to screw with my immersion.

Optional voice over is a good compromise. We have a lot of talented people in our community. I'd enjoy helping with this. Easy enough to make a yes/no setting.

If it's completely optional I would have no issues with it.

And by "completely", I mean "I don't want to download another 10 gigs of voiced lines from people who think they're talented voice actors."
