Whining about Staff

I really want to love staff because its the only place to get a naginata.

 

Who on earth came up with those animations though?

 

Guarded Spin is right on the edge but is at least survivable.

Eye of the Storm looks like a break dancer with cerebral palsy.

Innocuous Strikes looks like a spastic exterminator chasing cracks in the sidewalk.

 

Put the whole set together and it makes Concentrated Strike from Kinetics look glowing by comparison.

 

Rant off.

 

PS: My apologies to spastic exterminators with cerebral palsy. You're good people. The comparison is kind of mean...but effective. You break dancers, on the other hand - no insult is too cruel for you - just suck it up.

Keep in mind the staff animations are based on hollywood kung-fu idea of fighting with a staff ala Neo from the matrix...in fact several of the moves are lifted directly from that fight scene

 

I'm not saying they're good but I'm just showing you where the ideas came from since the Matrix was a big influencer at the time. It's the same deal with Dual Pistols and Equilibrium being a major influencer.

I had a concept for a Staff/DA character that I wanted to play but found the animations so bizarre thay did not fit the concept. I shelved the toon.
