Katana/Rad improvement suggestions

I had to piece this together from other sets since I couldn't find a katana/rad build. Are there any improvements I should consider, including the incarnate choices?

Frostweaver would approve, I suspect.  It appears to be competently slotted.  (I can't comment on Incarnate picks because I have no experience with that).

The only thing I can suggest is to put enhancement boosters in Hasten, although I assume the plan was to do that.

Thank you.

Yes, the /Rad side was actually from a post Frostweaver was theorycrafting in to help a Claws/Rad build with improvements. I guess my main concerns are end usage of katana and the end recovery of rad. I'm new to both sets and was wondering if Ageless Core Epiphany would be needed vs Barrier Core Epiphany.

I had to pass on Flashing Steel to squeeze everything else in, but I think I can live without it even though all katana builds seem to have it. It would be nice to have if exemping to very low levels, but I think the 10% damage increase from Assault would outweigh FS's usefulness overall.

I had a little wiggle room on slots and wanted to know if putting 6 in maneuvers would be better spent in some other defensive/resistance slot.

Finally, it seems I can slot a Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge in Soaring Dragon and/or Golden Dragonfly. Would it be worth it to lose an ATE in those for FF's, maybe even switching out one of those ATE sets to The Lotus Drops or Divine Avalanche?

This pretty much covers the areas I was unsure about.

That was me.  😋

I specifically asked Frostweaver for his help, and he was very gracious in offering his time and expertise.  I saw you had no replies and thought I'd give the build a quick look out of the same spirit of generosity.  Note, however, that I do not have the same level of expertise.  I am not the person to turn to for high-end optimization of IO builds, as this is something I have never manged to accomplish due unrelenting alt-itis.

The loss of Flashing Steel is unfortunate but not devastating.  You'd want to have that while leveling, obviously.

You have Gamma Boost and Particle Shielding to help with that.  These are advantages that not every set has.

You're looking at 18.16% proc chance for Soaring Dragon and 6.43% for Golden Dragonfly according to the proc calculator (which comes from the PPM list).  Doesn't seem worth it to me.

As for your other concerns, my advice is to get someone else's advice.  I feel it's generally unwise for me to comment outside of my discipline.

Well, not exactly.

I never quite landed on build for my Kat/Rad, though I am considering circling back to it for [Reasons].  Here's some of my thoughts on Rad armor from a while a ago; scroll down-thread for some excellent counter-points and a build from another player.

Can you post what you've worked up?  Posted builds tend to get more advice/tips/comments in these threads. 🙂

That said ...

I don't think my build will be all that helpful for you as I am likely dropping GZ in favor of tLD (*) and worked more on resists under some defense while leaning into DA or Shadow Meld to conditionally bolster defense.  Here's a current draft though just in case it gives you any ideas.  Drop Teleport if you're not into CT for CJ (and the 5th LotG), could swap in GZ for tLD although keeping both means moving slots around.  The idea here was to leverage Ageless for recharge and DDR, but I don't think I like building such that an iPower is needed, so that might change too.

I'm not overly happy with this result just yet.  Considering a Hover/EvM/Combat Teleport version, but that's another story.

I'm not sure how I broke it several months ago, but in-game it was never really finished anyway so .... 🤷‍♂️ Even unfinished Kat/Rad carves up AVs, a better player could do quite a bit with the combo.

* - Ground Zero is a fantastic power, and when I was playing this toon regularly it kept both GZ and tLD, but I was never happy with the 3s activation time - it just doesn't flow with Katana very well, one can fit a *lot* of tLDs into the downtime of GZ, and I needed to make space for my personal "must have" - combat teleport.  I am by no means saying anyone else should do what I did and go either/or on those powers. EDIT: Apparently the live version still has GZ, suffice to say I go back and forth on this one.
