Pyropath Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 (edited) Looking for some feedback on this controller build. Should I just go for the proc monster instead? I was looking for higher defense numbers through Clarion+Fade, but I am worried about possible endurance issues without Ageless. Doc Ranger Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 I'll chime in... Twilight Grasp put Touch of the Nictus for the Accuracy bonus so it will actually hit. It looks like you are going for more dmg than control with all your dmg IO's in everything. I typically slot more for control but it's personal preference. I would proc out Hot Feet and Bonfire. I would put some EndMod sets in Soul Absorption. I put two heals and 4 endmods. It really helps. Just my initial thoughts. A bunch of toons. Global DocRanger All on Excelsior.
Razia Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 How could you possibly have any end issues with Soul Absorption?
Camel Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 This is my Fire/Dark Controller. Fade, Hasten and Soul Absorption are all perma before any incarnates (None of my incarnates provide recharge anyhow) Fade powered by Clarion gives you an average of around 47% defense to all and max Smash/Lethal resist. Out of all my builds this one has impressed me the most, the utility you can bring to teams is top tier. I've had the most success on teams running ahead of everyone and CCing the mob and getting Tar Patch + Bonfire down on all mobs before the team engages, then using Soul Absorption to buff everyone's regen/recovery. Then rush ahead and repeat. I have zero end issues with Soul Absorption having a 100% uptime, I still feel Cardiac is essential though as sometimes you will not be surrounded by mobs. Anyways, check it out! Ran a 31 minute Master of Statesman's (Liberty) TF at +4 with this toon. Face rolled anything and everything in our way. I've been focusing on other toons and need to dust this guy off. You can swap Fire Blast for Ring of Fire to be more exemplar friendly. My build currently has Ring of Fire and not Fire Blast, but I am fixing to respec into it soon as I want damage that is more upfront and also think it's a bit flashier than Ring of Fire. Both are entirely viable and Ring of Fire does slightly more DPS I believe. It requires a lot of attention to play this build to the best of it's ability. Fade recharges so quickly that it can be annoying to have to reset it. I try to buff the teammates with it as much as possible but frankly, if I am alive and doing my job, my teammates don't even need it. Tar Patch and Bonfire alone completely neuter mobs, any other CC after that only makes that combo even greater. I haven't done all of the content on this Controller but at 50+ I haven't come to fear anything. I'll rush into mobs without a second thought and can only remember a few times where it didn't work out for me. Switch the slotting on Tough and Fire Shield. Due to limitations in Pines Hero Builder, I had to slot the Hami-Os in Fire Shield because it abides by level up slotting. When you respec you are allowed to put your slots into any power freely, regardless of when they were granted. Doing this brings the enh value from 59% to 69%, it's not much, but it's a buff nonetheless. Also could take the toxic damage proc out of Fire Blast and instead slot the chance for Absorb proc in health.

BTW, on my Fire/Dark right now... my opener looks like this: 1) Flashfire / Howling Twilight 2) Bonfire 3) Fire Cages 4) Tar Patch 5) Darkest Night Do you do something similar?
Camel Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 It all varies. In the lower levels I do tend to open with Flashfire a lot. But at higher end content I open with Darkest Night (sometimes... other times I find the animation to be a waste on some mobs, as even without it they pose very little threat, but I do use it!) then immediately follow with Bonfire/Fire Cages and Tar Patch, use Soul Absorption if it isn't up or is flashing and about to be down, then I either spam my AoE (Fire Cages, Fire Ball) and throw in Flashfire here and there. If I know I will be dealing with the mob alone for awhile, I'll stack both stuns. But I often find it to be overkill, especially if the entire team is there, at that point I just spam my AoE damage and watch everything melt and bounce away. My biggest tip is to be aggressive. You want to be in the thick of things at all times, not only does this maximize your damage but also your survivability. With a healthy amount of Soul Absorption stacks you can have anywhere from 40-60 HP regenerating per second, it caps at 10 stacks in Pines but you can get more in game and you ALWAYS want this up and fully stacked. 1

Doc Ranger Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I typically lead with Flashfire. Then Fire Cages, Bonfire and Tar Patch. I use Darkest Night for the Bosses. Howling Twilight I will save if my teammates seem to die fairly often...otherwise I use it whenever it's up 😉 A bunch of toons. Global DocRanger All on Excelsior.
Meknomancer Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I'd drop woc its teeny tiny radius means the mob has to practically sit on you for it to hit. It does look cool and it seems like a great place to stack a load of procs but you'll never see them fire off after immob'ing everything with fire cages. 99.99% of the time your immob will leave them out of range leaving you with nothing but the end drain and cool graphx effect.....assuming you don't get mezzed.
Doc Ranger Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) I use it for farming 🙂 But in normal content it works great with my play style which is sitting in the middle of everything. Edited January 9, 2020 by Ice_Warden A bunch of toons. Global DocRanger All on Excelsior.
