[Build Request] Illusion/Nature Affinity

Hey everyone. Blaster here, I just made my first controller since the game came back.

 

Just wondering if anyone has any good builds for the ill/plant combo, or if anyone could make one up for me?

Edit: If it sweetens the deal I can compensate you with some influence or some farms runs for the build if it helps persuade anyone to chime in 😄

It's been a day and no responses so I'm just going to say it.

 

It's a weird (random) combo.  It's not bad it's just …. what are you going to do with it? The build would completely depend on what you want to do. It's a very random pairing that doesn't really synergize or complement. You have a pretty good set in your left hand and a really good set in your right hand, are you right handed or left? Are you going to play it like a Nature Affinity defender except with an innate invisibility power and the ability to selectively hold and confuse more difficult targets while focusing on support, basically trading off the blast secondary for a small handful of controls? Did you see yourself primarily soloing buffing your pets? The secondary isn't going to be very helpful I that case. The phantom army is invulnerable. You can buff your phantasm but just aoe buffs that affect you as well, it's not like an Illusion/Empathy controller spamming Fortitude on their minion. Nature is very team oriented though it does affect the caster as well. It does give you the personal hold aura power which I can see being helpful to an illusion controller, but I can also see it going to waste. 

 

My actual advice, but not the advice you asked for, would be to play a different type of controller altogether for your first controller. Illusion is one of the 2 more unique control sets, it just plays really differently than most of them.

I think this kind of Controller is fine. Nature Affinity isn't any worse a pairing for an Illusion Controller than it would be on a Corruptor or Defender, and in some ways it is a better pairing. Both sets benefit a lot from +Recharge, which is where the majority of your efforts should go.

Here's a quick build I made for this combo. Note I am not an expert on either Illusion Control or Nature Affinity.

 

This is a modest priced build that mostly avoids purple sets. I made the assumption since you don't know a lot about builds that you aren't shopping for a tip-top maxed out character. (I am too much of an alt-a-holic to go for those builds anyway. Often you can outfit 2 or 3 characters for the price of 2 sets of purples, so I rarely persue them except on builds where it is critical. e.g. perma Dominators.)

 

This build would give you around 34 S/L defense, 36 Ranged defense, with +88.8% Global recharge.  I went with Scorpion APP because Nature is lacking in resistance debuffs, which you will want to boost the damage of your pets. 

 

None of the key powers are truly perma, but they are close. The chance for +100% Recharge IO in Disruptor Blast should help close this gap, and you can look to Incarnate abilities to close the gap further. 

 

Note that Disruptor Blast needs a KB to KD IO to prevent it from knocking foes backwards. There isn't one in Mids so I left that slot blank.

Hey thanks a lot! Ya Im good at following recipes, not so good at creating the recipes haha. Middle priced was what I was looking for.
