City_of_Jedi
Fellow Scrappers! I seek the support of our finest scholars in the following submission! This is a proposed build wherein I am seeking feedback. (Currently level 43 with almost entirely standard IO's). The first issue is Incarnates, because I am mostly clueless about those. I'm curious to know what is conventionally done. My only pick so far is Tsoo Core because apparently they are one of the better ones in terms of DPS, and because it fits the theme. The second issue is Exploding Shuriken. Originally had Frozen Blast in there, but it seemed like overkill, so I switched to Annihilation. Is there a better option? There may be other issues that I am not aware of. It is over the softcap for Ranged, but perhaps this is useful as a bulwark against defense debuffs or tackling Incarnate content. I am not sure if this is useful for that purpose, but I assume that it is. It does not have perma-Hasten, but it appears that it is achievable by having Agility in the Alpha slot. If someone could speak to the issue of Endurance sustainment, that would be welcome, because I do not know what to expect at this level of gameplay. Edit: Please ignore the second slot in Kuji-In Rin. I'll probably move it over to Health or something once I have enough recharge rate to no longer need it! I'm curious to know what is conventionally done. My only pick so far is Tsoo Core because apparently they are one of the better ones in terms of DPS, and because it fits the theme. I'm not the best with Incarnates but Looking at them for the Alpha I would go either Musculature Radial for the Damage, Endurance Modification and Defense Debuff. Or Agility Radial because of Recharge, which you really don't need that much more, Endurance, and Defense buff. With the Defense buff that would put you close to the Incarnate softcap. For Judgement I would go with Vorpal, while it's not the best I think it would fit your alt better because it is a cone and it does a bunch of kicks. Interface, Diamagnetic is always a good choice because of the -reg or Reactive for the -res, because you are lethal damage and that could help. Destiny, A lot of people take Ageless for the +rech and +end but Barrier could be good too because it would take you over the Incarnate softcap. Hybrid, Assault or Melee. Assault if you want to do more damage and Melee if you want to be harder to kill. But I would most likely go with Assault. 10 hours ago, City_of_Jedi said: The second issue is Exploding Shuriken. Originally had Frozen Blast in there, but it seemed like overkill, so I switched to Annihilation. Is there a better option? Frozen Blast would be overkill IMO because of the def you already have. Anyways I like Annihilation there for the -Res proc. While procs are not the best in AoE it's always nice to have -Res. If someone could speak to the issue of Endurance sustainment, that would be welcome, because I do not know what to expect at this level of gameplay. While you are over the softcap for Ranged and AoE it's not a bad thing because /Nin doesn't have DDR like SR so being over by a little is nice and it makes you closer to the Incarnate softcap. A weird as it is perma-Hasten will help with end because you won't have the crash, IIRC. Also you have a power that gives you end so that really shouldn't be a big problem. If you go with Ageless as your Destiny slot you'll have more end then you can use. More thoughts on the build. I would put achilles' heal -res proc in Sting of the wasp, speaking of SotW IIRC Gambler's cut is a better DPS attack. but both or good. The two slots in Kuji-In rin is fine, it makes it so you have it double stacked with is great because it caps your psy res and gives more mez proction, so while running the ITF you doesn't have to hide when romy rezs. Since you're over the softcap you don't need DA but it will help if you plan on running lots of Incarnate stuff. Over all the build is good and you should have lots of fun playing it. I have a kat/nin I'm leveling up now. This is the build I'm planning but I'm most likely going to pick something different than Body Mastery. Might go weapon mastery and I haven't picked my Incarnate powers yet. Riverdusk
Was just going to say the same thing about Kuji-in Rin, not necessarily a bad thing to have it double stacked. It gives ninjitsu some of the best psi resistance of any set, very nice to have when you run into those few psi attacks that don't have a positional vector to them and otherwise blow right through your defense. But if you are desperate on slots it can be sacrificed down to 1 slot. Edited December 12, 2019 by Riverdusk
StoneKarma
I found this from the other thread for Katana/? that you cross posted to. Many of my comments are over there. Kuji-In Retsu isn't worth it. Your DEF is already soft-capped, the recharge is 16 minutes, it lasts 3 minutes and the crash is 100% of your endurance. If you want an "oh $%^&" button, consider the Epic Soul Mastery power Shadow Meld. It give +20% to all defenses, lasts 15s, recharges in 37s and no crash. But really, you could just keep a purple and an orange handy in your Inspiration tray. Leadership Pool: I tried Maneuvers and I found that the Leadership pool powers were just too -END heavy for me. I would take them down to conserve End, and then not put them up. Combined with Hasten, it was hard for me to keep my endurance up, even with Incarnates and IO sets. Some other things I like about Ninjitsu: It doesn't really take that many slots to soft-cap your positional defenses. +END and +HEAL powers. Only 7 of the 9 powers are "must have," leaving a couple of extra slots to do whatever you want to with it. Things that make it balanced: ENDurance is a challenge. It's hard to get perma-Hasten, but you can come close. And you have to remember to activate Hasten because you're probably going to want to auto-activate Kuji-In Rin (+RES status effects and PSI). Ah...I had not considered that! Thank you both. 😁 What about the placement of the Scrapper ATO's? I took my best guess as to what powers to slot them in, but maybe things could be moved around somehow for better results? I just realized that Combat Jumping can't be used along with Shinobi-Iri, so that's disappointing. I was trying to eek out a bit more defense that way. Critical Strike would be best in Sting of the Wasp because the +50% Crit Proc, letting you get the +50% on Soaring Dragon and Golden Dragonfly. I put it in Soaring Dragon so I get the buff for Golden Dragonfly. Scrapper's Strike Proc is Global so it doesn't matter where it goes. Does it have any defence to Defence Debuff's? Yes, just not near the same levels. At level 50 you'll be at about 35% def debuff resistance. If you take the tier 9 power you can get up close to 70%, but it isn't permanent. I'd say katana/Ninja has less of an issue just because you can stack so much extra defense with divine avalanche (at least against melee/lethal) when you need it to overcap and just absorb the occasional debuffs that might hit you. In exchange you get a lot more utility with a heal, endurance recovery, a confuse, and a ghetto travel power built in. Can potentially give you more build freedom as you don't have to spend power picks on a travel power and/or aid self. As previously mentioned, it also actually has some very nice psi resistance and psi can sometimes be one of the biggest weaknesses of a positional defense set. Shinobi also allows you to start every fight with an almost guaranteed crit (somewhat similar to a stalker), which is a decent damage boost, something often overlooked. Can use it to help take out a troublesome boss or annoying sapper, etc., or lay down something like Lotus Drops and get a sea of crits to start. Only drawback to the set for me is no taunt aura. Thematically it makes sense, but it means be prepared to chase down runners sometimes. Luckily it has a big +speed power in it so you can chase them down fast. Being SR you should already have a feel for that. Edited January 24, 2020 by Riverdusk
