Krazie Ivan Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 i've never used Hover with Claws, so i'm not sure how near the ground Spin might need to be. the rest all activate for me while jumping, so it's an assumption they would work while flying. are you running w/o Tough toggled to save End? if no, then i'd consider swapping out a few sets to shift bonuses away from S/L Res to SLEN Def & E/N Res ...Unbreakable, ShieldWall, TiCoating, Eradication, Cleaving, etc. personally prioritized SLENFC softcap Def, then E/N Res (F/C came easy with Winter/Purp), and didn't need as much Rech due to Claws being so fast. with Invince saturated, the icap levels of Def provides great buffer for -DDR mobs, & no real issues with Psi mobs either. good first pass
Hobbes Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 Only level 12 so far, but Spin works at any altitude while flying. If the rest works while jumping should be good to go, thank you! Yeah, S/L Resistance is capped and then some, tough to figure out what sets to drop. The S/L Resistance just kept piling up while chasing other things. Happen to know how much Global Recharge does claws need to hit the optimal DPS chain? : )
Bill Z Bubba Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I've got 186.25% and run followup, focus, slash, repeat. You can go a lot less and do followup, focus, eviscerate if that stupid backflip animation doesn't drive you mad and get higher DPS by a bit.
Krazie Ivan Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 mine only has a bit under 130% Rech. at L50 with Agility i use Strike/Focus/Follow-Up on a boss, & let Spin/Shockwave alternate (depending on my/mob position) to remove all the minions/LTs. because i use Follow-up so much in my chain, i put Gaus BU, Scrap 50% Crit, & 2 dmg procs in it which also adds an E/N Res bonus. Shockwave is over 12sec base Rech (but under 4 once built), so the Rag purple proc fires often. def use the KB->KD proc in it, as you've got in the posted build. Spin with an Avalanche KD proc is slight mitigation. i have Evis 6slotted, but never use it... mostly a mule for Eradication/Cleaving bonuses. def no downtime waiting for good attacks to recharge on Claws.
Doomguide2005 Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Long time ago on live, pre sets, I had Hover on my Claws/SR. Never encountered any issues using it with my powers. If anything it helped with mitigating the KB in Shockwave as the kb got limited by the ground. I'd definitely get the kb to kd IO for the obvious reason of not sending your defenses flying. One of the best things about fighting +4 and +5 as a not yet 50 without those slotted in my Shockwave is they dont go flying 🤪
Bill Z Bubba Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 On topic, I don't like hover on melee. Follow doesn't get you into melee attack range like fly or run do.
Hobbes Posted January 7, 2020 Author Posted January 7, 2020 (edited) I hover scrapped a Martial Arts / Invuln as a main back on live. Hover doesn't follow correctly, you have to give it a little tap. It's not for everyone but Fly is my favorite Travel power, Hover adds to defense, and now I can use all those Wing and Jet Pack costume options. But mostly, I like to Fly. Minor changes. Dropped Fighting pool for Leadership which feels wrong on a Scrapper but since the Fighting Pool was two mostly wasted picks it was the easiest to swap out. Moved some sets and slots around.... Doomguide2005 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Agreed. Having to "move forward" after using follow to engage the target eventually led to dropping hover for combat. Now CJ+Hurdle joust, Focus and Shockwave deal with flyers or other up 'out of reach' foes. 1
